I've just read Atalanta by Jennifer Saint, and it was excellent. I've had Psyche & Eros in my Audible library for a while, and this discussion has made me even more hyped to read it. Love the sound of the new book too! Medea is a fascinating figure. I'm a mythology novice, but I love how these modern stories, and your channel, make learning more accessible.

I know this video is over 1 year old, but seeing as you mentioned you were kind of disappointed with the depiction of Medusa in the Percy Jackson movies, I would love to hear your opinion about how they changed her character in the new Disney+ tv show if you have seen it. Personally, I think it brought her closer to the original myths and it added more depth to her as a person and not as a monster, but I'm not an expert on Greek Mythology and I would like to see what one thought about it

Check out the book "The Goddess Letters" if you can find it. I haven't read it in like 25 years but it's a more honest retelling and goes over the traumas that she experiences and how she deals with it.

As a historian specialised in cultural heritage, I would say that for the most part it is a very fulfilling degree to get and experience, it was a lot of fun, sadly, the reality is that when it comes to get a job afterwards, especially with only a bachelor's degree is next to useless.

I adored Hay on Wye too when I went this year. I kept saying that I was so happy! It was incredible to be somewhere with so many bookworms around me. My favourite speaker at the festival was Jeanette Winterson. She is a fantastic orator! I discovered an amazing campsite called Raquety Farm which is above the village.

I sort my books by 1. genre, 2. read/not read, 3. author/collection, and 4. size/shape. Sorting them into read and not read makes it very easy to find the next book to read. Because I am quite easily distracted and I have my bookcases in the bedroom, it's more important that the books blend in with each other than creating absolute order. A small book placed between two large ones will not do.

Im not sure if youve ever gotten to the other books but i have to stand by Annabeths thoughts on Aphrodite and Demeter. NOT BECAUSE SHES RIGHT!! But because her character has deep misogynistic values due to her being forced to believe the only thing of value is brains and brawn. Honestly shes a bit mean in the first two books, but grows out of it. I feel like Annabeth is inadvertently a very relatable example of what growing up as a young girl is like (constantly putting other girls down "pick me") which is in direct contrast with Percys idealistic view of women due to Sally. Rick makes a lot a mistakes but that comment wasnt one of them i think.
