I’d recommend going with your usual size. I went with my usual US size and while there is some extra room in them, it feels like that space is intended by the designer. It feels good. Some more details on fit here: www.trailandkale.com/gear/adidas-soulstride-ultra-review/

Running in a seated position is basically a nice way of saying improper form. Its when someone doesnt have their hips pushed forward, usually due to either inexperience or overly tight hip flexors.

It’s a pity, I have the trail 2 gortex (blue and orange) and it has been unbelievably amazing to run in on Table Mountain and adjacent Lions Head. The shoe not only felt good, it looked pretty slick aesthetically. Then came the 3 and 4 and from an aesthetics perspective, it went from bad to worse in my opinion. I like the look of the 5 but concerned that it will hold up in the mountains where the runs are very technical. Also I feel that my trail 2 provides amazing support on technical terrain but performs equally well when hitting the road surface. Also I’m wondering if the change in lugs that was introduced with the 3 (I think) is indeed better than the lugs on the 2? Coz I’m happy with my grip on the 2
@trailandkale3 күн бұрын
The grip on the peg trail 5 is better than any previous version thanks to the new compound mentioned in the review. It handles moderate trails very well and even some technical stuff especially considering it’s a hybrid shoe. If you need a trail shoe for really technical trails, I can help you find the right shoes for that.

@trailandkale4 күн бұрын
The cloudsurfer trail is really nicely cushioned and has great traction - so if you’re big on cushioning underfoot then go with them. The Cloud 5 is an awesome everyday shoe as well but it’s a bit firmer - I love it because of how well they slip on but also they look quite stylish. The Cloudtilt I haven’t tested yet but on paper it should be a bit of a mix between the two in terms of feel.

Ok, I'm gonna say something I might regret (ok, already regret :), but I feel like Brooks is getting lazy with their technology. While everyone else is using new tech in their shoes with reactive plates and designs that look futuristic, Brooks is still rocking the old playbook, which has yet to change because it just works. The Ghost, Adrenaline, and Launch are, for the most part, the identical shoe. Let's call a spade a spade already!! They are identical, and every new version is about adding more foam. MORE FOAM, MORE FOAM Price-wise, there is no longer an advantage to buying a Ghost vs. Adrenaline; if you put them side by side on two runners, tell the difference. Ghost was a great running shoe for the economic or intermediate runner, but because of our love for FOAM, now it's basically the same shoe for about the same price; you can't even do what? 🤷♂ I'm running with the Launch series, and while they are rated for faster runs or speed training, I did a 1/2 marathon in them at cruising speed (10min-mile) for the first 8 miles. They felt great, and my feet weren't banged up. So yes, you can do distance, but not a full marathon. It depends on your speed and how you strike the ground. I use them around town for my 3.5. mile runs 3x a week and they're fine and I'm not a fast runner so it all works out. Lastly, I will say that I have tried more foam-filled shoes. I own the Glycerin Stealth Fit, and it's the worst running shoe ever. After mile 4, my shins are burning, and my legs are worn. They feel like heavy bricks. Who the hell designed them?! Holy Donkey shoes!!! They've become my walking shoes. I mean, if you're going to use the word "Stealth," you better BRING IT!! Launch 11 - Prediction...MORE FOAM MORE FOAM HIGHER PRICE
@trailandkale7 күн бұрын
A pretty good analysis there, although have you looked at the Hyperion Elite 4? The arris plate tech in that is pretty cool - but this is a component brand and not directly designed by Brooks themselves. We wrote about it here: www.trailandkale.com/news/arris-carbon-fiber-plate-brooks/
@buddymack7 күн бұрын
@@trailandkale Thank you for the reply and education here. I have seen the Hyperion but honestly haven't done the research on them yet..Love this link and read on the carbon plate... On another note, running is becoming a sport for the financially privileged. It's no longer a sport that everyone or anyone can afford to get into without dropping a few hundred on gear. While I am fortunate, I wonder how those less fortunate populations with health-prone disabilities (Heart, Diabetes, Overweight youth, and so on) will be less motivated because they won't be able to afford what the "cool" kids are wearing. But hey in America big pharma has a pill for everyone..🤣🤣 Thanks again!

BRO YOU ARE AWESOME!!! I just got a pair of Stan Smith Adidas shoes and I usually get size 12.5 to 13, they had 13 only in stock during the sale so I grabbed those. There is about 1/2 inch gap between my toe and the front of the shoe which is perfect for me. I found that the heel was slightly going up and down as I walked (very slight, but enough to annoy) tried this runners lacing.. AMAZING. Now there is almost zero movement of the heel. Thank you so much for this tip, was about to send them back and wait for a size down but this saved me.

My only experience with La Sportiva is with the Cyclon. I found them prohibitively tough to put on and the uppers had totally failed in less than 500 miles, although the outsole was still great in all but the thickest of UK mud. The rocklite V2 are a solid shoe like the V1, although there's now too much material in the toe box as I get some bunching below the laces. Initially, the Scott's are a fast and comfortable shoe, and are a possibility for an upcoming ultra. Greetings Helen, thank you for the helpful review. I am going to be moving to Thailand to train for several months. I usually wear vivo barefoot shoes for training and due to stepping my training level and frequency up significantly, I'm looking for a wide foor breathable cross training shoe to invest in. I tried these on in store, they certainly were wide and my foot felt free. I'm just wondering now about the breathability as you mentioned as thailand is very humid. I believe my main training is going to be weights, walking and some mobility/agility training. Do many shoes are far to narrow for me, hence being pleasantly suprised by the width on these, I did have to size up a full size. Any suggestions, would be much appreciated thank you.
