you scared me when the car actually started moving on the blocks. You are right, make sure you know what the ultimate engine output will be before replacing the transmission, My old car I started with a world class but then ended up with just under 500hp on the motor and destroyed the input shaft and ended up buying the TKO anyway. Once again give you credit for working on the road, reminds me of my youth working on my back in my driveway. Good luck on the swap, they sell kits with everything you need to switch from auto to manual.

You can probably find online how many turns out on the idle mixture screws on the carb would be good to start with and probably just leave it there. A Holley 650 or so you can start with all of them 2 or 2 and a half turns out and you will be fine. Then just adjust the throttle idle screw to where you like it, around 800 or so, and make sure it doesn't die when it is in drive with the brake on, around 600 rpm or so. If you have to go up a little that's fine, but if it keeps dying then you may have a vacuum leak somewhere or something wrong with the carb.
@adamscustomshop16 күн бұрын
The screw you mentioned you didn't know what it does looked like the idle adjustment for your throttle position. The idle mixture screws on the carb needs to be adjusted first and then adjust your idle with that other screw after you get the idle mixture screws good for the most vacuum you can get.

The whole panel just pulls off after removing the cranks and arm rest.
@68mustangrestoration34Ай бұрын
I believe there is a screw that holds it against the side of the car. pull them out and look on the body for a place where a screw can go. Also the aluminum sill trim usually has a more pronounced bump to accommodate the kick panel so it sits flat against the rocker. That is the problem with aftermarket parts, they are generic to fit many body styles and years and don't fit without some work. One job at a time and you will get there, keep it up

I had so many cars where the rear package decks rotted out. Sometimes it was the window seal but a lot of time it was simply condensation on the inside of the glass running down over MANY years. my record was 4 6x9 three way speakers on the rear deck , of course I think my hearing loss today is attributed to that . I suggest trying to push the speaker mounts up from underneath the entire rear shelf and through the cardboard you created , not between the cardboard and the deck or it will be lumpy. keep up the great work , restorations are one day at a time

good stuff, I used the autosound dual coil for the dash speaker as well. I forgot to ask, on the mirror , did you use the original mount or did you glue a new tab on the glass. I am using the original tab and with the mirror being so heavy it is having a hard time holding still.
@austindowney71422 ай бұрын
I used specific rear view window glue from the auto parts store, I used a metal mounting plate glued to the windshield. I believe It’s doorman part number 76864 for the mount (was an assortment, I’m not sure which one I ended up taking). So far it seems to be holding with no issues. The overall sound from the radio and speakers is great as well.

Of course that glass will crack if you put pressure on it this way. You should have take a knife and remove the rubber seal of the window first (the sides of it). That will free up the glass and you can take windshield away by hand. Then you just clean up rest of the rubber (sealer) that was below the window. I removed like that rear window, no damage.

good work, giving these old cars better brakes is the right way to go. I had the same issue with my conversion as well as the brakets needed "modification" for clearance. That's how it was for me. My first time. Ran into many issues and was nervous about it. Now, looking back I know I made a lot of mistakes. The temperature for the shot for the day was too hot. 90 degree dry day. Had a lot of overspray. I try preventing water in the line and still water got in. 30 gallons compressor could not keep up. Bugs for the year was bad, that is why I waited till summer. Should have waited till Early Fall. I was fighting bug and spray gun.. and I have a good quality gun. Devilbliss.. dialing in the speed and flow of the paint is very important. Paint would flash before it hit the car and psi was too high. Every little things count. Looking back I should have practice more on test panel fender or door. Maybe a little less hardener too. I ran into almost all the problems with spray painting. But it was fun doing it.
