I just hate how people think every minimalist concept group = NJs, am not a fan of NJs so as an outsider I thought their concept was 2yk street juvenile, like if S.E.S and Weeekly had a baby, while this groups that I just discover Illit is totally dreamy and "pure" like a combination of Gfriend, Kara, GWSM. I think MHJ has a idea in her mind of the group that is not the one we have, this is really common happends to movie directors, book writers, what they invision is not what comes across.

I laughed when I heard rabbits claiming NewJeans were being mitreated when they're undoubtedly the most privileged group in kpop. Imagine being called BTS'S sisters, getting luxury brand deals not even 6 months into your careers, and so much more. Lesserafim didn't get that privilege. The only mistreated group in a Hybe subsidiary is Fromis_9. These people are so delusional 😭

I have a feeling the next group the Newjeans fans are gonna target is gonna be the new Hybe American girl group Katseye. Because when their teaser for the debut song that just dropped tonight was released I was on Twitter and I saw tweets from Newjeans fans talking about “ugh Hybe really keeps stealing from Newjeans!” But like Katseye is definitely very different from what I saw in the teaser.

I keep saying that if you were confusing Illit for Newjeans, you never knew about or cared about Newjeans in the first place. Honestly how did you not recognise the members you claim to stan to the point where you saw a 5 member girl group with natural hair and assumed they were the same thing... you guys are telling on yourself, because you don't care about Newjeans you stan MHJ... Like if you go out and look there are plenty of groups who are aguably more similar but you don't see their fans saying people are going to mix them up, sure they may yell about copying but they are never outright confusing the groups they claim to Stan. You could make a fair case of Ateez and Stray Kids ccppyig each other (they aren't) using selective evidence such as both having 8 members, strong edm discography and difficult dance steps, which can occasionally overlap. But you will never see even a casual stan of either group mistaking one for the other

Also, and it could just be me but Illit gives me Red Velvet/Loona vibes more than NJ. I do think that Hybe made Illit as a way to have a New Jean's like group they could control without MHJ but I also think that MHJ is using New Jeans as a front to push her own agenda. I don't believe she really "loves" them. Both things can be true at the same time. Still, I think that no concept is exclusive. Also I find New Jeans concept more urban and "aesthetic" while Illit is more sweet like.

I used to criticise international fans who used to complain about K-Netz before but now that I have more exposure and knowledge of the kpop community, I see it. K-Netz are insensitive and the kind of people to ride whatever train is coming their way first, much better when it's young and innocent kind of concept. Though International fans might not be all good. During this controversy, I saw a larger number of International fans trying to go for facts and stay neutral.

The point of the Mhj’s accusation is not on the orginiality, but the system of the Hybe label. Usually under the same company, consecutive two girl groups don’t share similar concepts. E.g red velvet&aespa , or even though they have similar concepts it’s usually after a long period has passed since the previous group debuted. Why? It’s because they don’t want to compete for the same market pie under the same company. New jeans is still a fairly new girl group, and the debut of a new girl group, who has a similar concept with them, under the same company can possibly cause harm to both NJ and Illit.

The very first dance (the one in Ditto & Holiday Party) is also in Ateez's Say My Name (which is what I thought of the first time I saw it in Ditto).

Honestly I think the biggest thing I've noticed with newjeans is that they basically kickstarted fifth gen and set the trend that would end up being the thing we associate with 5th gen. Every generation in kpop kinda has a certain sound that kickstarted with a debut that inspired the sound associated with that generation. I definitely think that if newjeans didn't debut, illit and many other 5th gen kpop groups wouldn't have the sound they have today. However, do i think it's copying? Not really. Are there similarities? Quite a bit if im being honest but i think the real issue is that they both debuted under hybe with similar ish vibes. I can bet on my left toe that if they didn't debut under the same label (hybe), no one would have bat an eye on their similarities as newjeans kinda set the tone for 5th gen. They didn't copy anything, more or so just followed the trends of 5th gen that newjeans happened to inspire or participate in. Unfortunately this is what happens when you have a monopoly and create so many groups. There's bound to be overlaps
