Going back to Boston Baby!!! what a fantastic game. holy smokes! Did Boston steal that game? Frankel stood on her head to keep them in it. Looking back on the whole season now I think Minnesota really does have the best best team when they're playing their best. But this is series could go either way.

What a game! Hensley made some really big key saves but it did feel like Minnesota had this game and Frankel was well, Frankel lol. Similar amount of shots yet I thought Minnesota had more chances and the puck more. I think Minnesota was pretty deflated after the full celly and then having to go back to playing, but I think they got the call right. The ref was very emphatic that it was a goal and I think that’s why they were sure it was over. Maybe if the refs had gathered immediately it would have helped Minnesota but as you said it’s anyone’s series now! I’m excited for game 5 😃

Yes I couldn't believe the line score either after watching both semis (this 1st game of the finals was not broadcast on TSN in our area) 🏒 I'm saddened & heartbroken PWHL Toronto got beat out -- could it be. . .the LEAFS' CURSE?? 😱-- but I believe the better 'playoff' team (unfortunately) won. Toronto just didn't take care of the puck well enough in their D-zone. . .you can't give one turnover after another to a team with players named Coyne Schofield, Heise and Zumwinkle; and expect to win in the playoffs 🏒

Wow really?! We had it on here on tsn, but not sure where abouts you are. I honestly think Toronto would not have put up a good fight against Boston without Spooner. But I hope they come back hungry as they all looked super angry at the end of game 5. Also during the first round if you were a goalie and you weren’t perfect you looked bad haha that’s how tight it was. Interesting to get such a different outcome in the finals here. Wonder if it will keep up or if we’ll get a more defensive game come game 2. I wouldn’t mind some more goals 😄

Which penalty are you referring to? I know I saw when watching the Nurse one back you just can’t do that. Putting your stick out like that making no real effort to stop the player just throwing it out there for them to trip is not what you need from your top guns. The one on Larocque I think was a pretty weak call.

I think the 5min penalty is correct but I wouldn't give a game misconduct unless that's just automatically added to a major penalty. The reason given of "attempt to injure" is wrong though. The primary point of contact, while unintentional, looked like the head. That can't be part of the game. Players need to be aware of how they throw a hit.

I agree, although I’m worried about Spooner. It looked really bad especially in slow motion. That would be a massive blow to the team. If Boston does go through, I really dont know who will win. If it was Montreal I’d say Toronto for sure, but Frankel is just so good and I don’t think Boston's physicality should be underestimated as to just how much that wears a team down. I think Montreal got really unlucky having to play them in the last game of the season (which was probably the hardest fought game of the year) because it’s basically extended the series and thus wore them down even more. Should be putting up a video with a couple guests tomorrow talking about the two series and our predictions for the outcomes!

Calling this intent to injure just seems so far from what actually happened. She hit a player with the puck and I didn’t really see head contact. A lot of people definitely seem to think it was embellished. I don’t know if that’s what happened either but, zero intent to hurt the player here that I feel confident in saying. I was at Place Bell last night, and holy shit it was insane. This game had everything: drama, physical play, cancelled goals, so many shots, playoffs animosity and emotion, a pinch of MTL vs Boston hockey rivalry, a smaller pinch of a spice that I believe I have tasted in USA vs Canada games, two teams captained by legends of their sport and true ambassadors, questionable coaching decisions (at least for MTL), and questionable calls from the refs (death, taxes, complaining about refs are all inevitable things lmao), and almost 3 complete OTs. I will remember this one for a long time. I attended every MTL home game so far and it is a privilege every time for me, but last night was anthology material for all those things I mentioned. Now about the rant: I neither played or coached hockey in my life, so it's easy for me to talk, but I had the same thoughts you mentioned (except they were in French in my head haha). Especially the message part. I heard some people scream "WE WANT DEMPSEY" somewhere during the 3rd OT. And considering the way Boston plays, shouldn't a player like Catherine Dubois get more ice time? Her size is really useful both for physical plays and to blind the goalies. Like you said, I'd bet not many players on either side of the equation are happy about the line management. They gave everything, especially them MTL players that got so much ice time, Stacey and Grant-Mentis didn't have any gas left in their tank, you could tell their legs were dead. It was the case for everyone, Stacey was in zombie mode at the press conference. I have massive respect for players of both teams, and my emotions about Kori Cheveri's coaching have been a rollercoaster all year long, and it's not over... yet. There is at least 60 minutes left in that series and I hope there will be adjustments especially in line management, because game #1 was very questionable also. Thanks for creating PWHL-related content!

Thanks so much for the response! I love reading comments like this. You made me laugh when you said “except my thoughts are in French” 😂 Completely agree that this series has everything you could want. So happy for you that you got to experience it live. That crowd was LOUD on every hit, every play, every call. I love it. That’s how your home crowd should be! Especially in the playoffs! I don’t understand what Cheverie is looking at in her third line in particular that somehow made them unplayable for overtime. They’re a good line, give them a shot! How do you just have zero faith in your team like that? Why would they want to play for someone like that. Dubois's size is definitely helpful in a series like this. But even players like O'Neill at 5'3 can be effective when they play the right way, and she did drawing that first powerplay like a pro haha. It made me laugh the way she drew Keller into that. She must be so annoying to play against. But overall when you’re getting hit like that it makes you so much more tired. And the coach didn’t adjust to that at all which is why I don’t want her there next year. Like, Carla McLeod WOULD NEVER, pull something like that. As a coach she understands exactly what kind of message that would send to the entire team. Cheverie in my opinion has proved she doesn’t know how to coach for this level of hockey.

Yeah I take issue with them calling this “intent to injure” when there absolutely was none. Stacey had the puck so she was fair game. I didn’t see any raise of the body/elbow in an attempt to target the head. @@markd8469 I will politely disagree 🙂 yes Campbell has two shutouts but she also has faced a combined 47 shots in the series. Frankel has had to deal with more than that in each game alone! She’s faced 111 shots over two games, won both, and only let in one goal in both. . And both goals were on the powerplay where there is an open player that her team can’t cover. Frankel has also had to play an entire extra game of hockey on top of two in three days. That’s insane! So I just don’t think the two are really comparable at all. Will be really fun to see them head to head though! Then we can have that discussion 🙂 And you’re right. The top teams are using four lines and that’s how you win in the playoffs. Can win a single game with a couple star players but you’re not playing at this level where you’re playing every second day, with this level of physicality and running two lines. Just won’t work. Torontos depth has been wonderful for them. And Boston's is incredible, especially considering three of their key players are already out of the lineup. That shows incredible depth within the organization to be able to find three players and immediately have them go out there and make an impact the way Kelly Babstock has who just recently signed her contract.

Oh wow I’m jealous! That must have been such an amazing experience. That was playoff style hockey right there 🙂

I hate seeing that stuff, especially against the best players. Dirty... like how do we win a hockey game, lets take a run at the best players and take them out.

Yeah I’ve seen compher do this a couple times this season and it hasn’t been called. They weren’t quite as forceful but still you can’t be hitting people in the numbers with no way to protect themselves. This was a dirty hit and there’s no excuse for it.

I really like the competitiveness of PWHL games. However, there needs to be clarification of interactions. This hit should be an automatic game misconduct & player should be suspended for intent to injure. There's no room in hockey for this kind of dangerous hit.

It was a five minute major, game misconduct and she is suspended for the next game. I think that’s pretty clear and I love that they set a standard that this is not tolerated. I can see this being two minutes in the nhl.

@@pdubcentral You're probably right. The NHL would've let this go, until there was retaliation/brawling.
