Actually they do have incentive, here’s the breakdown: If Ottawa wins in regulation against New York on Tuesday, Boston will be eliminated. They will be tied with Ottawa for points however even if Boston were to win their Saturday game, they would come up with less regulation wins than Ottawa, which means Ottawa has the final spot. Thus they have a chance to accumulate points on Saturday and could steal the first overall pick if New York can’t find a way to win a game this week. They have massive incentive to beat Ottawa, and vice versa. This was I believe the point of the Gold Plan. Each team with just one or two games left are all severely fighting for something. @@pdubcentral You are saying in case of a tie between Ottawa and Boston, Ottawa would prevail. I thought the opposite, because in the five games between them, Boston had 10 points and Ottawa 5.

@@pdubcentral This is the first criteria. It means that 2 regulation wins and 1 regulation lost is better than 3 wins in OT. The logic is not clear. What I suggested seems better, BUT if the tie involves 3 teams, it's not necessarily working. So that rule has to be excluded. The best rule then is, in my opinion, the differential in GF vs GA. In this case Ottawa, it would be Ottawa again.
