I’m glad you appreciated it! Yes, there are so many members who receive amazing temple insights, but they aren’t always taught or shared with the rising generations. As we keep our covenants and live worthily, Doctrine and Covenants sections 121:45 promises: “Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.” I want to gather some of that dew which I have been blessed to collect and help share it with others, so they will appreciate the temple more when they have the opportunity to go for themselves.

Good points... Many great movies and tales are all the more so like this in reminding of what we knew before this life... Good to say how the symbolic characters flow from God to Jesus to us even while mostly holding one meaning most of the story Great point against those presuming they have place to rule w/o understanding or that they've been robbed like Scar

Three questions: 1. What is the significance of being anointed with oil from a horn to be a king or a priest (in the Bible)? 2. What is the meaning of the priesthood garments (Exodus 28) and how do they symbolize the temple covenants and promised blessings? 3. How does Jesus Christ demonstrate the path to fulfill our temple covenants and obtain the promised blessings? How would you answer these questions? The answers are all found in the video!

In case you don't see it in the description, I am posting here some additional thoughts on the priestly garments! 00:18:18 - Garments of the Priesthood In the video, I didn't talk about the linen undergarments that the priests wore. You can read a description of this garment in Exodus 28 (the same chapter that describes the other clothing): Exodus 28, New International Version 40 Make tunics, sashes and caps for Aaron’s sons to give them dignity and honor. 41 After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. 42 “Make linen undergarments as a covering for the body, reaching from the waist to the thigh. Exodus 28, King James Version 40 ¶ And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty. 41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office. 42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach: Note that while the coats, girdles, and bonnets were for glory and beauty, the linen undergarments were "to cover their nakedness". In the Wikipedia article titled "Priestly undergarments", we read: "The priestly undergarments (Biblical Hebrew: מִכְנְסֵי־בָד, romanized: miḵnəsē-ḇāḏ) were 'linen breeches' (KJV) worn by the priests and the High Priest in ancient Israel. They reached from the waist to the knees and so were not visible, being entirely hidden by the priestly tunic." Another point to touch on here is the term ephod. This term is used many times in Exodus 28 referring to the apron worn by the high priest. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the ephod is: "a linen apron worn in ancient Hebrew rites especially : a vestment for the high priest" The temple ordinances point us to Jesus Christ. How do these priestly garments point us to Jesus Christ? In the Mishnah, which is a codified collection of Jewish oral laws and traditions, we read a commentary about the symbolism of the priestly garments. This commentary shows that in ancient times, the garments were seen as a symbol of the atoning power cleansing the wearer of his sinfulness. For example, they saw the linen undergarment as atoning for sexual transgressions. The mitre or bonnet for arrogance and highmindedness. The belt for sins of the heart. The breastplate for errors in judgment. The ephod for idol worship. The robe (with the beautiful sound of golden bells) for the ugly sound of malicious speech. Zevachim 88b:5-8 Link: www.sefaria.org/Zevachim.88b.5?lang=bi The Hebrew word for "atonement" is "kafar", which means "to cover over". When we put on the holy garments to "cover" our nakedness and sinfulness, we are putting on the purity of Christ, which represents His atonement to "cover over" our sins. Revelation 3 5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. If we have been clothed and "covered over" by the white raiment that comes from Christ, then our name will not be blotted out of the book of life, but Christ will confess our name before the Father and the angels. I hope you gained additional insights in this commentary!

There is a great article by President Dallin H. Oaks titled “Miracles” that was published in the June 2001 Ensign: “As I said earlier, the Lord works miracles in response to the faith of His children. No denomination-not even the restored Church-has a monopoly on the blessings of the Lord. He loves and blesses all of His children.” In His sermon on the Mount, the Savior asked us which of us having a child who asks bread would not give it to him, but instead give him a stone? If he asked for fish, would we give him a serpent? If we give these things to our children, so too will our Heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him. Matthew 7 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Are their visions, healings, and other spiritual gifts in the church today? Yes! Believe President Henry B. Eyring! Expectations: Today's Youth Will Rise To Them "Elder Eyring quoted Joel 2:27-32: 'And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions . . . and It shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered. . . .' "Then Elder Eyring explained, 'The scripture does not say that your sons and your daughters may claim the gift of prophecy by the Spirit. It says that they will. It doesn't say that your young men may see visions. It says that they will. And it will come because the Lord will pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. Not only will the youth you love and serve have the Spirit poured out on them, but so will the people around them and those who lead them.' "But, he added, the Spirit will also wash over some and fail to make a difference. Choices, he explained, must be made in faith to receive spiritual power." President Henry B. Eyring, quoted by the Church News www.thechurchnews.com/2004/8/7/23237984/expectations-todays-youth-will-rise-to-them/

John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth". (John 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". 1 Timothy 3:16 "God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory". in his general epistle, the apostle John stated: "We announce to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld, and what our hands touched, as regards the Word of Life. And the Life was revealed, and we have seen, and we bear witness, and we announce to you the everlasting Life which was with the Father, and was revealed to us" (1 John 1:1-2) While still in the human flesh Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25). He also said that He was the "I AM" of the Bible (John 8:57-58; Exodus 3:14-15). Hebrews 1:8-9 refers to both Jesus and the Father as God. Matthew wrote before His birth that Jesus would be called "God with us" (Matthew 1:23). Clearly Jesus was divine, God in the flesh. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) Salvation cannot come through works, it is by grace we are saved lest any man should boast. It is ONLY by accepting Jesus Christ and His perfect work at the cross. He died for all that all may live! Salvation comes through the broken body and the blood of Jesus. I pray these words of life open your hearts to The Light! ❤

Before his mission, my son fell over 60 feet from the top of a tree. In the emergency room a portion of his life path opened up to me in a brief vision as I gave him a blessing that caused me to tell him that he still had much the Lord wanted him to accomplish in life and that his body would heal. He heard and retained that promise in his memory and he became a different person after that. He's done much to bless the Spanish community since that time and is currently raising 2 boys with a Columbian wife.

John chapter 1 and John 13 specifically the Jospeh Smith translations of these chapters have added to my understanding of the ordinances and covenants of God performed in our temples. I found these incites from the study of 2 Nephi 31 taking Pres Nelsons directive to walk the covenant path and come, follow me that I believe are taken specifically from 2 Nephi 31. 2 Nephi 31 describes the path of baptism of water, baptism of fire and the baptism of the Holy Ghost but John 1 and 13 help explain how these three baptisms make one, as Jospeh Smith said. One, new and everlasting covenant which starts just outside the gate of the temple as an outer ordinance with the baptism of water by a lessor priesthood but that initial covering of water brings us through the gate onto the covenant path that then leads us to the baptisms of the Spirit or inner ordinances performed by the greater priesthood in the temple, which include those ordinances and covenants that are of the redemption and of resurrection.
@oooee
@oooee 22 күн бұрын
John describes this walk down the covenant path as a progression from darkness to light or exaltation needing to receive the outward ordinances before you can learn and understand the inward ordnances. John said " I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you (Christ, but specifically Christ as the covenant with Israel), whom ye know not (because Christ's ordinances are not known to the world); ... who, coming after me [baptism of fire, baptism of the Holy Ghost], is preferred before me [baptism of water], whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose [John held the Aaronic priesthood that does not administer the higher ordinances, which is why John said he had need to be baptized of Christ] or whose place I am not able to fill [John's baptism is without the temple, Christ baptism is done within the temple]; for he shall baptize, not only with water, but with fire and with the Holy Ghost." Baptism then is the gate by which we enter and are confirmed members of the Church but it like the sacrament is an outward or Aaronic priesthood ordinance and like John, points the way towards Christ and towards the higher things of the Spirit. A "Ward" of the Church itself is administered by a Bishop under the keys of the Aaronic priesthood to those who have received the first ordinance of baptism or baptism of water. However, the church prepares and points people to the ordinances that come after the baptism of water which are administered by the higher priesthood, those higher ordinances however, are not elaborated on in "church", we are taught about them but pointed to the temple to learn of them through the Spirit. John again taught that there is one that comes after me, preferred before me, this is not only referring to Christ but also to His higher or inward ordinances, the baptism of fire and Holy Ghost or the baptism of the Spirit, these we receive in the temple which are the ordinances that teach us of exaltation and seeing the face of God, they are taught as we climb up the mountain of the Lord's house. The knowledge and understanding of these ordinances however, the Lord has provided us a specific method to learn them, a school located in a specifically built higher house of learning, the temple. He also gave us a specific mentor and instructor, The Holy Ghost and Spirit who is much more capable of teaching us everything we must know and do in order to enter into exaltation and prepare us in all things to see His face.

After understanding John, the covenant path is testified to by Christ in 2 Nephi 31:12 where He says: "follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do." Remembering John's account we can start there to follow Christ as He lives by example His covenant path and keeps and does the laws and ordinances He has asked us to follow Him in doing. Christ was first baptized by water, which is the first ordinance we too must do. 2 Nephi 31 explains this perfectly. By receiving the ordinance of baptism of water we are witnessing to God that we will keep His commandments and do His will. This Christ showed us how to do by example in the things He did throughout His ministry, doing the works His Father gave him to do. Christ throughout His mortal ministry was preparing to do all things He was asked to do which culminated in His sacrifice, death and resurrection. These redemptive ordinances He performed began at the last supper where JST John 13:10 explains that the washing performed by Christ, "Jesus did this that the law might be fulfilled" the same things He told John when He was baptized by water. In temple symbolism, this ordinance of washing was done at the door of the tabernacle of the old covenant (inside the gate, within the court but outside the door to the Holy place), comparable to where the initiatory is done in our temples of the new covenant. Christ as the High Priest is the one to wash and purify others who are called and anointed priests. For this reason, I believe the laver and the washing done within the tabernacle is the next ordinance after the baptism of water that Christ is showing us is needed to fulfill all righteousness.
@oooee

This is too verbose, but Christ's experience going on from this point continues to show us the ordinances of the temple. Christ takes His disciples to the mount of olives, to Gethsemane likely close to the same place where under the law of moses, the red heifers are sacrificed. This is a unique sacrifice required by the law as it is the sacrifice that is required to provide the ash to make everything else pure. It's the sacrifice that the jews in Israel today are trying to prepare and do so they can build their temple. Without this sacrifice nothing can be done under the law as the ashes from this offering are mixed with water to purify all individuals that perform all other temple ordinances. One thing this offering is specifically required for is the purification of any who have come in contact with death or a dead body. I think it's very symbolic, as all through Christ's atonement come in contact with His body symbolized by baptism (death) and also by the sacrament (body and blood) for life and new birth, and purification from sin. A Heifer by the way is a female cow before it has given birth. Christ in the garden, leaves His disciples, and weighed down asks for this cup to pass from Him. Nevertheless, He covenants with the Father to obey Him and do His will, showing that after all our witnessing of our desire to keep His commandments, when the time comes, we are willing to actually do His will and keep the commandment. Christ as the Father and Great High Priest brought himself a sacrifice for sin to that place where the sins of all were conferred and transferred to Him. We then see the importance of His garments covered in red from His suffering and how our garments are a shield and protection from sin and made white through His atonement. Christ after making low the mountain of sin, suffered himself willingly to be taken, tried, scourged and crucified, in the valley of death, consecrating everything even His very life for all that they through His death might be exalted. Every mountain shall be made low and every valley exalted because of Christ's keeping and fulfilling the ordinances of sacrifice and consecration. A covering or baptism of fire. At the very moment of His death, the veil of the temple was rent in twain exposing the mercy seat and opening the heavens creating a path from earth back to the presence of God. Allowing all to communicate with God and receive of the light and Spirit Christ promised would be sent after He left His disciples. The light or Spirit that was hidden up in the Holy place of the temple could now be exposed for all to have. The showbread and wine that was also hidden in the Holy place of the temple was now brought out and Christ instituted a new covenant with His disciples of partaking of the bread and wine in remembrance of His body and blood. Christ liberated the captives in the Spirit world and then the Spirit quickened Him (or baptized Him) and He received a new and everlasting resurrected celestial body fulfilling His prophecy that if they destroyed this temple or in other words, destroyed this old covenant, in three days He would raise it up again, a new and everlasting covenant where no longer is there a veil of cherubim and a flaming sword to block the way to the tree of life, but now Christ, the fruit of that tree stands between us and God asking us to follow Him into the presence of "my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." Christ covered the second death or our separation from God providing a baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire, as John said. Christ is the temple. He is the new and everlasting covenant. We should see the temple throughout scripture because the scriptures show us Christ. As Nephi said "Wherefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter. For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost."
