As someone with high functioning autism, I hate how society doesn’t educate people about autism properly. I’m just as capable as anyone else, and knowing that the are people with autism who are living a normal life, makes me wish we were treated better and that people got proper education about it.

I think it would be more helpful for ALL disabled people (not just autistics) to use the concepts of “ADL’s” and “IADL’s” used when discussing the frail elderly. If anyone can’t consistently perform ADL’s, they are “high support needs”; they will need continuous care to be safe and healthy. If someone can consistently perform ADL’s, but not IADL’s, they are “low support needs”; they can likely live alone, but with regular assistance with whatever IADL’s they struggle with, be those shopping, making phone calls, cleaning, paying bills, whatever.

EXCELLENT knowledge about root cause of speech problem. Dr whenever I give high dosage (2.5 mg or 5 mg) of MethylFolate (Folinic Acid or Quatrefolic) my 5 yrs old autistic son becomes very irritated and meltdown happens. Is this a transient phase or I need to stop high dosage MethylFolate?

Great questions. Thanks for asking. The study where I show the graphs in this video was done using regular cow's milk. The first link in the description is to another research publication that looks at A1 vs A2 however that is not in the autism population. I haven't found a study yet that discusses A1 vs A2 in the autism population however in general A2 seems to be better than A1. Does that answer your questions?

Like I said, a routine has not been carried out and they can't go on until it has. Talk about stress and conflict. In my experience, people were kind- bewildered for sure but they just didn't understand. I created thevterm 'Autistland' in 'Izzy Baia'. Basically, the autist lives in their head in Autistisland, where everything is ruled by routines-rituals. Sadly, we have to force them to live here in the beautiful-maddening real world. There is no other choice. PS Excellent video- keep up the good work❤

Huh? Talk about dehumanising. Your "strategy" of forcing autistic people to deal with the chaotic, maddening world more than they're able to is just going to force them to develop masking behaviour. You might see this as a positive as it will make them "better" at social interaction, but it is mentally exhausting and can easily lead to total emotional burnout if not managed carefully.

I was a carer to a severely autistic teenager; it became the subject of my book 'Izzy Baia: Autism, Life, and other Unsolved Mysteries' (Mercier Press; 1998; listen to the Prix Italia award-winning documentary 'Who is Izzy Baia?' on the RTE Player in the Classic Documentary slot). I called Brian's "outbursts" "mindstorms", like a mental hurricane that became very violent. During such episodes "reasoning" with him was simply hopeless: we just had to wait up to 40mins for it to blow out, whereupon he would apologize and plead for his parents' forgiveness. You must understand that, generally speaking, a severely autistic person has no sense of embarrassment at all. Nada. It's all about them and the crazy crap in their heads most often triggered when routines-rituals have not been obeyed or ignored.

It depends on what autism says about you. I’m 40 (as of this comment and it obviously will eventually get old) and have already managed to foreshadow that I will not live to be 57 because after Michael J. Fox and/or at least one of my parents dies, my heart will never heal and therefore will also never let me go back to sleep until I can sleep forever!

Blessings dear doctor and sister autism. Is caused by spirits that are passed on from mother or the father before child is born this evil spirits are attached to the mind of the individual and cause dyslexia, speech problems, anger , frustration, repetitive cycles of doing the same thing ,stress children like that need serious prayer of deliverance parents can do it or ministers can help them they have to fast because this spirit are not and weak and it require fasting on the behalf of the parents sometimes presents need deliverance and as a result children get free from this autistic spirits ‭Matthew 17:14-21 NKJV‬ [14] And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, [15] “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. [16] So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” [17] Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” [18] And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. [19] Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” [20] So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. [21] However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” bible.com/bible/114/mat.17.14-21.NKJV‭Mark 9:17-21, 23-29 NKJV‬ [17] Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. [18] And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.” [19] He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” [20] Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. [21] So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. [23] Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” [24] Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” [25] When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” [26] Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” [27] But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. [28] And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” [29] So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” bible.com/bible/114/mrk.9.17-29.NKJV blessings

As a mom with a 16 yr old daughter who has low functioning autism and epilepsy I have to say it is pretty much impossible to find " a skilled healthcare practitioner who can see what your child needs" unless you have a lot of money. If you are on private insurance or medicaid you are not gonna get this kind of time and attention from the doctor...we all know this by now. If you don't have money to hire a naturalpath or pay the doctor directly yourself you aren't getting the kind of health care you described. This is why I'm guessing most of us are here listening to you and trying to find answers for our children our self...because the health care system is BADLY BROKEN and puts money before the well being of the patient. The gig is up on big pharma and all its poison and that is all that is being "peddled" by the so called health care professionals we are forced to see because its all our insurances will pay for. The good thing is though...its forcing us to wake up and take responsibility for our own bodies and our own health again which is how it should be. This brainwashing BS of someone else needed to be "consulted" or "asked" before you do any little thing with your body like take a supplement, change your eating etc is out of control and downright insanity! Thank you for all the information Theresa it is much appreciated! 💙💙💙

I've worked with Dr. Lyons extensively to heal my son’s autism. Her background as a scientist is why I started working with her in the first place. Previously, I had a team of functional doctors who suggested I order multiple expensive tests without reviewing any of his previous history and labs. I wasted money and more importantly time trying all the things. Dr. Lyons’ approach to healing is streamlined. Everything she suggests is based on hard facts and science. She has so much experience working with children with ASD, that within a single appointment was able to spot a huge, previously missed puzzle piece in my son's testing that has now skyrocketed his healing. Please leave your negative comments elsewhere. Dr. Lyons is laser focused on finding out the root cause, educating parents to make the best decisions and healing children.

@navigatingawetism
@navigatingawetism Ай бұрын
Hi. Sleep movements are common but it's always good to check in with the doctor who recommended the folate. In general, the cause of these jerky movements is unknown but is related to when the brain is shifting from being awake to being asleep. The folate taken is specifically to impact the brain so in many ways it is not shocking because you were giving a supplement to specifically target the brain but you want to make sure these are not related to any brain discharges or seizure activity. Stress, anxiety, exercise, and lack of sleep can all cause these kinds of jerky movements in sleep. It's not necessarily a bad thing but it would be important to understand and identify the reason. What changes did you see with the folate? Did you start at 15 mg/day? Were/are you working up to a higher dose?

According to studies, the titers of autoantibodies tend to vacillate with time, as well as 5-MTHF concentration levels in the cerebrospinal fluid, so CSF concentrations would be a more reliable test, but even they might not reflect the long-term status properly. This is what I've gathered by reading all CFD papers I could find.

Great summary! Yes, a spinal tap would give more specific results however that is a very invasive test and not something to be done regularly especially as you note levels do fluctuate with time.
