Translation ((I found this translation in another video, which only recited half of the hymn. So, I thought of copying it here since Mar Meelis recites the full poem - with the exception of the two lines I noted below. This makes me cry every time I listen to it.)) He, whom the fiery beings (Seraphim) tremble from it, to gaze at it The bread and the wine, which you see on the altar... Those clothed in lightening, if they see Him, are inflamed And the face of the worthless earth, when receiving Him, becomes unveiled. The Mysteries of the Son are fire among the heavenly beings; Isaiah bears witness with us to have seen them. These Mysteries which are in the womb of the Godhead Are on the Paten being distributed to the children of Adam. The altar is fixed like the chariot of the cherubim, Surrounded by the multitudes of the heavenly hosts. On the Paten is laid the Body of the Son of God, And the children of Adam are carrying Him with their hands. And instead of the man who is wearing silk, the priest stands Distributing alms and pearls to the needy. If there exists envy among the watchful (angels), The cherubim are close to envying human beings. Where Zion fixed a cross to crucify the Son, There, grew up the tree that gave birth to the Lamb. Where the nails were fixed on the hands of the Son, There too the bonds of Isaac were offered. ((As I compared this translation to the singing, I found these two lines were not part of this recitation. But I am leaving them in because they are so beautiful.)) ---Welcome O priest who carries a pure censer, ---And with its fragrance sweetens the whole world. Welcome O priest whom the Holy Spirit raised up, And with his tongue he carries the keys of the House of God. Welcome O priest who binds people in the deep, And the Lord in the highest He binds them, Hallelujah. The translation is by George A. Kiraz and is taken from his short article on this hymn that was published in the Journal of Assyrian Academic Studies, vol. 20 no. 2, 2006, pp. 18-24)

Mar Aprim is the Metropolitan of the Church of the East. He is one of the Bishops that voted for Mar Gewargis Slewa III and made him the Patriarch of the Church of the East. Mar Gewargis Slewa III resides in Baghdad, Iraq, and for the first time in over a century the Chruch of the East returned to Iraq -- Victor Isaac Alexander, translator of the Ancient Aramaic Bible of the Church of the East. You can find my translations of the New Testament and other Books of the Old Testament for sale on Amazon.com. My translations into English are unique because I provide extensive footnotes at the end of each chapter.
