Over the years, I've come across 2 great Matco tool reps, but most, they're around for a while, then all of a sudden. no more tool truck. The tools themselves are pretty good, but won't put anymore money into something, when you can't be sure the rep is going to be around.

Joe does have alot more patience that just about anyone else would ..... My cousin went thru a similar situation with Ford but when the decided to look into the motor they said it was his fault the motor blew cause one of the turbos was weak ...... But yet there was never a service engine soon light or anything of that nature to tell that the turbos were on there way out the door ... Typical FORD = P.O.S I would "NEVER" own a Ford ....

I ask permission for anything that supersedes my weekly budget. I get $100 to spend a week, and the rest goes to bills. (I got a wedding to save for too.) I just bought a JSC773 and putting that on a Matco PSA account lowered my minimum payment from $75 on the truck account to $26 on the PSA. I pay $35 on bad weeks and $50 on good weeks and the rest goes to the mechanics nicotine and gas. If I need more than my weekly allowance(which practically never happens) I ask my fiancee.

Clay I wish teachers only had to buy one set of markers. My wife is a teacher. It is more like $1500 plus personal supplies every year. Her teacher stipend is only a couple of hundred a year. My wife does understand that tools are needed. I am not a professional mechanic. But she know tools fix the house, car, appliances.
@KoonTrucking
@KoonTrucking Күн бұрын
I know my daughter is a teacher. The point is even at $1500 is a drop in the bucket compared to tools. A scan tool will run you $10k at least for a good one. Not counting all the tools. When you look at salaries say $60k for a teacher and $80k for a tech then take off expenses such as tools… the teacher still makes a lot more money. Unfortunately here those salaries are more like $38k for a teacher and $50k for a tech

This entire economy is them figuring out ways to get your paycheck before you get it. Except for a house, you don't need any credit. You would think you need to build credit or buy a new car before you buy a house, that's not true. Being in debt hurts you more than it helps you. Like tool credit. You could buy a $16k tool box or a $8000 scan tool. Whichever one you buy, that is your credit limit, so it shows you are using almost 100% of your credit line! Then to improve your credit, you first have to pay it down to 29% or less. And if you gone buy anything expensive like a house land or a shop, they want to know what you really really make vs debt. You have to show the bank your last 3 years of income! That credit card or tool credit ain't gone help you one bit.

The average pay for a teacher in Florida is $47K. The average pay for a mechanic in Florida is $54K. Comparing a teacher buying school supplies and a mechanic buying tools is a false comparison. Teachers buying school supplies is like making a mechanic foot the bill for a customer's replacement parts. If mechanics were treated as poorly as teachers, there would be no mechanics.
@KoonTrucking
@KoonTrucking 2 күн бұрын
Markers are $4-8. A single wrench is $30-60 off the tool truck or more depending on the size. Not to mention a teacher isn’t spending $80-100 a week payments on a tool truck like the average mechanic to buy the tools he needs and must have to work on modern cars. A scanner payment alone would eat that budget up. There’s absolutely NO WAY even with the difference in pay you can justify that a teacher buying anything school related would come close to what a mechanic spends to do the job. Even if you took the difference in pay it is not even close in any way at all. My daughter is a teacher, we have had this talk. It’s not even close.
@joshuam4614
@joshuam4614 2 күн бұрын
@@KoonTrucking Once again you are making a false comparison. If you want to compare a mechanic's tool cost to a teacher's tool cost, then look at the teacher's real tool cost. To be a teacher you need a four year college degree plus a teacher's certification. Then if you want to keep your job for more than three years you have to go to graduate school for at least two more years (which costs even more than undergrad) and earn at least a Master's degree. After that teachers still need to earn even more certifications and take take even more continuing education courses. Meanwhile a mechanic's tools are tax deductible while a college education and school supplies are not. Classroom supplies which are used by the students are not a teacher's tool cost, their education is. My sister, who is a teacher, had her transmission go out recently. How about I have her ship her car down to you and you can pay for the new, not rebuilt, transmission? You can charge me $300/hr. for labor. I don't care because I'll still come out ahead and you'll be in the hole for the cost of the transmission.
@DSMLivin
@DSMLivin 2 күн бұрын
Mechanics have to have certifications also. We also have to take classes to stay up to date on yearly changes. The "tools are deductible" myth is just that, a myth. Over the 40 year span of being a diesel mechanic, I have over 180k in tools and tool chest, with a lot now obsolete and worthless. Teacher expenses are more likely to qualify for a tax deduction than a $30 extra long 10mm wrench. Rant over. 🤐
