The tds of my tap water is 500 plus. My locality is borewell dependent water supply. So how do i keep discus with so high TDS levels?. Do i have to use RO?

Hi please can you tel me the sizes of your tanks and gallons that’s in them ! I’m just returning to the hobby of discus, I won’t be having as many tanks as you but if my small fish room can be anything like yours then I shall be very happy 👍 but your quite right in starting by purchasing quality, I have just liked and subscribed and any help or advice will be much appreciated regards Paul from the Uk 🇬🇧

Hi, thanks for your video! Really answered my question! I have kept discus from Discus Hans since I was told he is the only one that sells stendker discus that can “survive” hard water (tap water). Then i found out discus hans/stendker stopped breeding fish. Just bought a 125 gallon, planning on buying more discus, didn’t know where to buy any discus tgat can live in my tap water, until I watched your video!

Best and quickest way to **INSTANTLY** neutralize PP is with hydrogen peroxide.

When some one ask me, you keep fishs? I usually say, fish keepers don't keep fish we just maintained water.

During your first attempt at raising discus did you do any medication during the first 30 days fry hatching? If so please make a video? I’ve seen your Potassium Permanganate videos but I need more details if possible . Your video and Jack wat leys discus videos inspire me to become a small scale breeder

@GVBDiscus2 жыл бұрын
the brown means amount of PP used was exhausted, it does not mean that it has “finished working” and there’s no need to add more, please just stop, you clearly have no idea what youre talking about

.32 gram as Mr D explained in a 5 gallon bucket. It's less complicated than trying for a bath for 4 hrs ( 2 mg/ Litre or .076 gram per 20 gallon for adult discus/ 0.95 mg for fry.
@angelfish12652 жыл бұрын
I'm glad this is old. A 4 hour bath in it should kill them. Check out jack Wattley Discus folks. The PP color change tells you when the PP is done.
@GVBDiscus2 жыл бұрын
you used the word “should”, meaning you either dont know or havent tried, and i have done it many times and they dont die. so maybe dont comment on things you dont understand, or just listen to your buddy Gabe who’s setup is much different than a single tank PP treatment and see how that works out for ya, best of luck… to your fish

I have never used fish medication. I use salt with my mbuna but only if some have physical injuries from fighting. I worm my discus but only every 3 months. I think Australia's tough quarantine minimises a lot of diseases and pathogens.

Great honest opinion which I fully agree with. I don’t need to test my water the fish are my test kit. I keep mine at 30 degrees is all I know. Quick question do you find the sponge filters are sufficient for filtration I notice in some able you only use sponge filters.

When I lived in Edinburgh in Scotland, the water was PH7.8 coming straight out of the tap. Then if you left it standing after a week it reduced to PH7.0. With large water changes it was not practical to try to lower PH anyway. It's more important to have clean water.

Do you only use sponge filters or are they just supporting other filters such as external filters or sump?
@GVBDiscus3 жыл бұрын
only sponge filters, there are 3 60 gallon tanks with small canisters that I am too lazy to remove, everything else including the two 220gallon tanks are only sponge
@andrisani66583 жыл бұрын
@@GVBDiscus Some people have told me that if I want to use only sponge filters, I will have to do water changes every day because they are not as efficient as mechanical filtration, is that true? How often do you do water changes?
