Is that a brass import, if so what kind of curve is that running on?
@normancoreyBuildingTrainsАй бұрын
No it's scratch built. The chassis is built using ahm parts it will run on 18r but looks funny
@normancoreyBuildingTrains2 ай бұрын
Well I had some time to work on it been really busy working on my caddy. What I found was the drive shaft was hitting the stud that holds the front driving truck on just enough to cause it to chug at low speed much better now.

Southern railway own LS units that were 2-6-6-2 also.
@richardperry57432 ай бұрын
You got the 2-6-6-2 looking good, Mr. Corey! The classification lights are a nice addition! Hope you get to enjoy her for a long time to come! I have often thought about attemping to build a 2-8-8-2, using 2 Mantua boiler shells & mechanisms from a Mikado, it would take a lot of cutting & grinding off unwanted details, but the heavy zamac boiler & smooth mechanisms may be worth the trouble. Take care, sir!

@@normancoreyBuildingTrains thanks and yes i did find that video. My skills are nowhere even close to that but is it possible to change out the Bachmann driving wheels with some other brand?
@normancoreyBuildingTrains2 ай бұрын
@ianlangan6976 probably not it is a split chassis that means one side of the frame is 12v + and the other is - SO THE axle has to be split and isolated the you would have to use the gear and use it on the replacement parts. There is a company that 3d prints the plastic axle joiners that have cracked that cause all your issues.

Good work on your 2-6-6-2, Mr. Corey! Looks like she runs nicely. Have you considered a five pole motor with a flywheel? That would make her run even smoother!
@normancoreyBuildingTrains2 ай бұрын
I had a 5 pole in it first didn't run any better that it did with the 3 pole in it. I think the wheel diameter is slightly different from the front truck to the rear both turn freely no binding but the motor is being stressed I am going to check with a micrometer tonight they look the same but the flanges are different that makes believe there is a very slight difference this would cause the motor to stress being both are running from the same motor. If this is the case I will make the front truck free spin by taking the gear out had this problem with my tri plex but I could see the difference in the wheel size. Once I figure it out I will put another 5 pole in it I don't want to damage a motor by getting it hotter than it should run.
@richardperry57432 ай бұрын
I noticed the front driver's had larger flanges, I think you're correct, it definitely will not run properly, if the drivers themselves are different heights, from back engine, to front engine. I hope you get that figured out, especially for maximum pulling power. Good luck to you, Mr. Corey!
@normancoreyBuildingTrains2 ай бұрын
@richardperry5743 the flanges, you can clearly see are different but the rim it's look very close but I think it's not the same .
