I wouldn't put defenders on my car if you gave them to me for free. I don't consider the fragile defender to have any great advantage over the cross climate. If you looked at the actual data you would find any advantage the defender might have from its cheap construction to be so slight as to be virtually unnoticeable. It is the standard in a no season tire. The cross climate isn't an all season tire at all. Its an All Weather tire. Thats literally what its for and honestly shouldn't even be compared to a No Season tire.

I've had ATs for years and years...some were used (back in early 90s) and some new. Like them a lot. Got AT3 XLTs on my 1970 Ford Bronco a couple years ago on advice by tire dealership when I requested ATs. They seem more quiet, have enough of an aggressive tread, and look great that I'm comfortable it was a great choice. Not off-road or snow much, so not concerned (although I'm sure four-wheel drive and factory posi front and back will have more impact). Price looks about the same today for each tire, although maybe there was some discount for Coopers when I bought them. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either tire, but the AT3s might be more quiet on the road if that's the majority of your driving.

I use to run KO2s on my Tacoma. I tried Toyos and now Falkens. By far the Falkens outperforms the other two. The KO2s are over priced and over rated in my opinion. The Three Peak rating in the Falkens makes for a perfect match here in North Idaho. But for a extreme Winter, the Blizzaks are what I run up here.

My experience with the Trail Terrain …BAD experience.. We live on a hillside coffee land with 4x4 road only. My wife’s car is 2020 Jeep Compass Trail Hawk…after installing the BFG Trailhawk, at first I thought the Jeep Compass 4x4 system was not great…our Trail terrains did not last 10,000 miles. Replace with the BFG KO2…WOW huge difference,rarely sipping and sliding, tons of traction with the KO2s.. Glad it was not the Jeep Compass 4x4 system..it was the tires (trail terrains - no traction) It rains a lot , 4x4 everyday…dirt, mud and some parts pave.. We also own 4x4 tundra , TRD Tacoma both with BFG KO2s.. If you are going to do any off roading? Stay with the KO2s…both offer same mileage warranty…Aloha

I haven't had a chance to try the ko3 and At3w yet, but did spend a lot of time with the Ko2 and At3W. Mostly agree with this video based on the Ko2/AT3W, but some differences. My ko2 were better in mud, even down to 5/32 and 6/32, but they were down right awful in rain with ABS constantly beeping. It felt ok powdery snow, but nervous in packed snow with what feels like rear end wiggles (probably due to being a stiffer tire to begin with and REALLY stiffens up in cold). The At3w is FAR superior in rain, handled cold weather better (doesn't stiffen up as much) but I was getting stuck in muddy spots where I knew even my worn down Ko2 drove through. The biggest surprise tho is despite being a FAR superior rain tire, they were HORRIBLE in slushy snow like ones that fresh on the ground and immediately ran over by other vehicles or the "East coast snow" with higher moisture content... they practically turned my full time 4WD into a drift truck. makes it tough to decide what to get next
@comparethetire4 күн бұрын

Regarding fuel economy - what is the difference between the Firestone AT2 (being the best) and, say, Geolandar G015 (being mentioned as not great in this regard)..? Is it like 5% in MPG or 10%, or more like 20%?

Firestone AT2 offers about 1-2% better fuel economy compared to the Geolandar G015, which is around a 0.3-0.5 MPG improvement.

I've owned both, Grabbers didn't last half the life of the KO's. Neither in my opinion, are great in the snow, I live in the snow belt, and the best AT tire I have found in the snow thus far is the Hankook Dynapro rf10's which lasted me just over 65k miles. Don't see any mention of Hankook tires in your videos? I would suggest you review tires for the masses and not just the offroad world... More normal drivers than offroad drivers and even those offroad drivers spend more time on the road. That might be why you only have 3.5k subs.

One thing not addressed which is a major concern, is increased highway tire noise as the tread wears. Mud Terrain tires are notoriously horrible for this, but how would you expect these 2 to fare?
@comparethetire23 күн бұрын
Great point! Tire noise can definitely become an issue as tread wears down, especially with more aggressive patterns. Both the Goodyear DuraTrac RT and the BF Goodrich KO3 have designs aimed at reducing noise, but as they wear, you might still notice an increase. Mud Terrains are indeed notorious for this, so it's something to keep in mind!

I think both are going to be really good tires. Falkens are always good, they know what they are doing. As for BFG, I don't think they would be putting out the KO3 so soon after the KO2 came out if it wasn't a significant improvement. They obviously were well aware of the KO2's issues and this was their response. That's my hope atleast. The new tread pattern makes way more sense for wet conditions, and it sounds like they've made a lot of other subtle changes that will make an all around better tire.

I have 37/12.50/17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T’s on my Jeep JLU. I think this tire is fantastic in deep sand, deep snow, and ice as well at the rain. Still really good in mud, and grip. These tires grip the road well in all conditions. Being a hybrid A/T it is closer to a Mud Terrain. That being said they do make some noise. These compared to the BFG KO2’s which are supposedly amazing, these blow those away. The KO2’s slide on all surfaces. The Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T’s are the best by far. My friends with the The Toyo Open Country MT’s and Nitto Trail Grapplers think they have the best tires. Only in Mud, and off-road grip. They are not as good as the Baja Boss’s in the rain, and suck in the snow and ice. When complain I have about this tire is that a compound is so hard that it takes it to be significantly aired down to change the shape. It can be aired a rougher ride if the road psi is incorrect. These tires are heavy, and this tread compound is really tough. I love these tires.
