The vast majority of people against these books don’t care if someone is LGB. They just don’t want these books in elementary schools or for young children to read them. We’re fine with stories that have gay characters but the problem is with how graphic the books are

Thank you so much for bringing this to light. I had no idea that so many men - and presumably some women too -- were in the closet! Even the comments section we can see the creep of this sensationalist "make someone gay" rhetoric. It feels like going back in time.

As someone who's on the younger side of gen z ( still in highschool ) and who has 3 younger siblings ( two are gen alpha ) I definitely see the difference in how me and my younger sister engaged with media when we were children, and how my youngest siblings engage with it. My brother who's the youngest constantly has a screen in his face, whether its the TV, Ipad, or my moms phone. There's always some type of media in front of him. I look back at my childhood and I wish my youngest siblings had one like mine. I was always playing with toys, going outside on the swings, reading books and playing dress up with my sister. Now my youngest siblings just stay inside, and we dont go out that often. My brother's almost 7 years old and he still can't read, and I'm worried that no one cares. I think the pandemic also had some type of affect on parenting and gen alpha. ( Let's be honest. What did the pandemic not affect? ) So i believe that's a very good talking point as well. My parents are trying to get siblings outside more, and they're trying to get us all involved in more things, but I worry that some of these behaviors ( especially my brothers ) will be overlooked. I'm worried for him, and for every other gen alpha kid.

As I bisexual woman, I've been to one pride event that was supposed to be family friendly. They didn't have inappropriate events but there were still grown ass adults who showed up in our and gear. They ruined it. I'll never go again.

I know what I've been since I was ten, it wasn't just puberty or being a teenage girl - I've never even heard of the word transgender before, but when I did, it felt right. People who detransition should be respected and heard just like anyone else, the queer community is hateful. It has been for years. Transphobia, homophobia, and all the discrimination against each other is so common when it's meant to be a safe group for teenagers, adults, and even older people in their 50/70's. People need to stop being transphobic to trans people, and queer people need to stop being ignorant to people who detransition.

Gen X (77) here, from an abusive background. No contact with my daughter (27yo), I made mistakes, big mistakes that I fully take responsibility and accountability for, I got the help I needed. I've reached out several times, apologies made. I did the best I knew how, I know better now. Im a much better, calmer, understanding, healing parent now to my younger (8yo) My biggest regret is not realizing I needed help before I messed up my relationship with my oldest daughter. I miss her so much.

I think that people that hate their gen x parents, are overreacting. Hear me out, When I was 12, my father was 51. he is 64 now. Nobody I ever knew had "Trama" as you described, not even myself. And although they may be strict, its how their parents raised them. Its an endless cycle pretty much. also was one of those things that Gen Z makes worse.
