Putting cold water into hot Pyrex is a great way to shatter that antique percolator. An easier way to make low acid coffee is to place a 3.75" flat paper filter into the percolator basket before adding the ground coffee, then make the coffee the way that was intended with that percolator. Works for me but you do whatever works for you.

yeah, when it boils it really takes off. I stir with a metal spoon to mix the coffee and lift the pot and turn down the heat once it starts. Good coffee, smooth as can be.

I'm trying to build one of those for my wood fired oven.

Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to making cowboy coffee. If I have the heat too high, it will froth up and over the pot every single time when I add the coffee. On an electric glass cooktop stove, I have to heat the pot up on the #6 setting which is about 2/3 of the way. Any higher and it’ll froth up too much. Once it starts steaming, I put in about 2/3 of a cup of regular grind. It’ll start to come to a perfect rolling boil. 4 minutes or so and it’s good. Definitely takes some practice and trial and error but once you find the sweet spot, it’s worth it.

I coincidentally made the same thing last year, simple inexpensive and birds love it but most 5 gallon buckets are not UV resistant and become brittle in a short time....the only 5 gal bucket I could find made with UV inhibitors was a Yeti brand but at $40 each they're a bit pricey.

I have a similar scope that gets water drops inside so l open the objective lens only and clean them but after them back all the ranges power changes l mean l zoom in to zero and turn the objective len its blurry, and if l turn from 50yrds upwards l can't see a thing at all, l don't if that happens to yours after you fix them back

To my understanding, and correct me if I’m wrong, but as is, you can’t see things close easily. Trying to find a diopter that can fit over and adhere to the plastic outside of the lens so that I can see close object in my hands clearly. What is the diameter between the original LEDs? The diopter would fit just inside them. Thanks!

How much water did you start out with?

FM is Analogue and not digital and Airband is on AM mode, not FM, you will only hear pulsating and data sounds between 108~118mhz and Air traffic control voice communications are heard between 118mhz~137mhz and have tuning steps of 8.33khz and 25khz respectively.
