Thank you, I wasn't getting the drift in snowden drifts correctly enough at speed for the gold and after watching this, doing some remapping and getting used to the whole setup -> drift -> follow through thing I finally managed! Rolling Ace, here I come!

I saw the title and thought "let's see some crazy racetrack", there is no racetrack 😱 this is "the floor is lava" of beetle races. This is insane! Major congrats to the racer and the track builder. I can't even imagine how you can build something like that, let alone drive through it.

Imagine playing a game where some incredibly bad and casual players think that being decent with a fucking in game mount is "incredible" And now imagine posting videos of you casually rolling around with that same mount being proud and all, saying "hey look ive got 1k hours drifting on a roller beetle ! Just got back into GW2 recently, after taking a 5 year break and suddenly it's part racing game xD This really looks like fun, I was wondering what the rules were? Was the final round a bo3 or just repeated because of the lag? (and gz for 2nd)

It was a repeat. On other people's screens, the first race of the finals was so close they asked us if we'd rather go again or do a photo finish. We both agreed to race again.

I was trying that very Halloween track to play with the beetle, and felt like I was *half* getting what it wanted out of me to control this thing. the camera affecting things was what I was missing. makes a lot more sense!

I'd recommend checking out my guide on normal drifting if you haven't already. Drifting is a fundamental aspect of beetle control so it's important to get that down.

Another important aspect is boost timings. Especially when you're just starting out, learning to time your boosts to get the most out of them is very important. Don't just boost as soon as it recharges. It's often better to hold off on a boost until after a turn, as you'll be able to carry the speed for much longer than if you boost beforehand. Boosting out of a drift is also generally advised, since normal drifting slows you down.

The wooden track pieces aren't crafted. They can only be obtained by racing on the official beetle tracks. Each track piece costs 25 medallions and you get 10 for getting gold on a track. IMO that just makes it more impressive.
