This was a nightmare kit for me. The superstruture did not fit at all. The instructions are very unclear and hard to follow. Respect that you got it together and a great outcome. I’d love to have seen more detail of how you did it.

@@blackcat62 thank you for your kind words. Sorry that you didn’t have a good time with this build. I personally feel I could have done better with mine, to be honest. I did find parts of it difficult and often questioned why certain parts couldn’t have come moulded as one (i.e. hull, or superstructure as you say). The hull and deck in 5 parts was baffling if you ask me. I actually had to cut some of the interior away as it fouled on the superstructure.
@blackcat6216 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Glad it was not just me who had to carve out some significant chunks of interior framing to get the superstructure exterior even close to fitting.

Hey Nathan, fantastic build. For the localisation name on the stern of the vessel, did you paint 'PORTRUSH LIFEBOAT ? Brilliant job.
@nathanlawrence59396 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your comment. The ‘Portrush Lifeboat’ text is a waterslide decal; every RNLI Severn-class station in the U.K./Ireland was included on the decal sheet supplied with the model, allowing builders to select which one they wanted to model. I selected Portrush because I visit there from time to time, and I see this vessel each time I go.

@@fionnualamarch8451 I would say that the next time a steam train will go to Maynooth will be later in the year, unfortunately. Unless the RPSI adds another excursion to its schedule at some point.

Built this one also. Beautiful molded detail & etched windows. One small issue of note is faulty fitting(gap) of forward superstructure fitting below the bridge- you need a tube of model filler to fix this. Otherwise makes up a beautiful model. Due to size & meticulous nature of painting it I chose to finish it with Krylon metalic gold as a "presentation/trophy" model with limited decals & gloss black base. The details really stand out!

How were the number decals for the hull, i heard they were very transparent and the blue showed though?
@nathanlawrence59392 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob. I heard this as well, so I proceeded to apply the decals with caution, however I found out that they went on perfectly - no issues. The same applied for the yellow/red stripe. Perhaps Airfix have improved the decals since the kit was released.

@nathanlawrence59392 жыл бұрын
@@bobsmith-jb5ni there is only 1 bow thruster. It is very hard to tell as the instructions appear to indicate 2 joined pieces. The part just rests between the hull, with one side more open than the other. I think this is how it is in real life.
