What I would like to know is if there is a special trick to spraying through the hole such that particles of primer don't float in the air and land on other painted surfaces.

Good job of applying and explaining, but metal spreaders make the job easier.

Hey I’ve got a question that I can’t get a straight answer for. I’m spraying an Eastwood dtm epoxy primer and it says you can recoat within 4 or 5 days. I sprayed it and was going to go over with a 2k after an hour and a half but it’s still a little tacky so decided I’ll wait 24 hours. My question is do I need to clean the epoxy primed panels when I prime tomorrow or just tack rag it?? If I can clean it, should I I clean it with wax and grease remover or alcohol or what? Thanks for reading this novel lol.

For a cheap job on a peeling clear car to clean up the look. Is it possible to use duplicolor sprayable lacquer quarts and spray a higher end urethane clear over the duplicolor base for better protection from elements and longer lasting job?? Brand isn’t specific but more of a lacquer metallic base with a urethane clear coat. Would it hold together ? This is for a factory 10 year old car that the clear is peeling bad and base is already fading, no rust yet. So pretty much hoping it would last longer than the factory clear did.

Thank you for the video! I just got scammed by US CAR TRANSPORT!!! Gave me a price 650.00 from NY to Florida! I thought it was an excellent price they emailed me the total and wanted A 300.00 deposit which I did! Now I did all this 2 weeks prior they gave me a date when the car would be picked up!! No other price was mentioned! I even asked about toll prices and if I had to pay for them the States NO everything included in the price of 650.00 ..well the day before I was moving and the car was to be picked up they contacted me that I had to pay another 200.00 and when the car gets there another 500.00! Listen I don't mind paying for a service but to do this to me the day before I was leaving for Florida was insane!!! I'm 80 years old and I'm on A fixed income! The transporter came by uber which I thought was strange to get my car so I asked if he was insured to drive my car to wherever he parked his truck! At least I was smart enough to ask if he got into an accident driving my car to the truck who was liable? He said other customers had no problem with it ...I drove that guy with my car and a friend followed anyway spoke with the guy on the way and found out he's getting the 500.00 to transport and the broker is banking the 700.00 for doing nothing but stealing money!!! These people are crooks!!! They knew what they were doing and had me cornered because I would have been stuck doing that to me the day before! Again US CAR TRANSPORT don't use them unless to want to get scammed out of hundreds !!!!

I wonder how thorough new car dealerships are at repairing a lot full of new cars damaged by a hailstorm? I know in Tyler, TX the Ford dealership is advertising 'hail sale' cars, claiming that you can't tell that they were ever dented. The Carfax or AutoCheck reports will always rat those vehicles out, at resale time.

If you just want to use a spray can, you can buy 2K epoxy primer in a spray can (ie Spraymax, Eastwood, etc.).

They sell the replacement bolts, some made of brass, at places like Amazon. No modification needed, just remove the worn out bolts and replace them with the new ones.

One very important piece of information you left out that you seem to be ignoring is to stop sanding when you see metal. Metal sands a lot slower that body materials, so if you continue sanding (as I see you are doing in this video), you are creating high spots (metal areas). You should stop sanding and apply more spot putty over the entire area where the metal is exposed to bring up the low spots.

Get this: I painted my 68' MGB Roadster in my garage in, I think the late 80's. Well, sitting out in the elements and letting the Colorado and Montana weather eat away at it,.. It's time for another paint job. But man I swear I don't remember going through this kind of detail. Yeah, a lot of heavy spraying with a cheap sprayer and a 10 gallon compressor in my garage. I'm f'n surprised it lasted this long. Applied too thick and paint cracks all over the body. There was no KZfaq to help and it was more of a learn as you go process. Folks today are sooo freaking lucky. All they have to do is hit a couple of keyboard steps and Viola ! ! ! Thanks for your video. I picked up a lot.

I like to use epoxy on show cars as a base primer and block it out with a guide coat and then use body filler and finish in HS primer aka high build then block and colour paint the car never wet rub any repairs as water will go into the body filler weather it’s epoxy primed under the filler or not body filler is porous only thing that epoxy will do is seal the metal unless you’ve repainted your body filler repairs in epoxy and then blocked it out again and then apply HS primer and then you could wet rub but don’t rub through

I’m Aussie born and breed in Australia 🇦🇺 in smash on new plastic cars you don’t need to epoxy primer bare metal repairs as old mate said I’ve found being in the smash industry my whole life From 15 years old I’m now 50 years old new cars have a zink coating on the steel hence the reason you never see rust in new cars or cars there around 10 years old body fillers today have evolved a lot since the 80s high Rezin content too adhere to new car paints aka baked enamel or 2 PACs plus I have worked in higher end smash shops who do use epoxy under there repairs but like I said Ppg epoxy can be speed up by baking it to 60 degrees after two hours you can do your filler repair after it’s baked and as for resto and sand blasting it’s a must to epoxy the car and then filler can be Applied after light sanding or Scotch-Brite epoxy primer is also used wet on wet here in Australia in restoration you have a four hour window before you have to sand it save time on parts like door hinges and underneath bonnets so on so on

Dude not straight on the truth. 1st he said 24 hours to wet sand, Then he said 30 to 90 days. Which is it? I'd rather wait 30 to 90 days. You will mess up the clear because it's to soft and not cured. 2nd: You will have a reaction in your clear coat folks. Just tell the truth! Car Addict Garage

I get a kick out of how all of these self proclaimed experts don’t use proper terminology. Bumper faces are not made of plastic, they are made of thermoset polyurethane, which is technically not plastic.
@CarAddictGarage
@CarAddictGarage 2 ай бұрын
Thermoset polyurethane was used in older vehicles, but is rarely used these day for bumper covers. Thermoset is difficult to heat and reshape and to plastic weld. The plastic used today is polypropylene blends of PP, which is a thermoplastic. Thermoplastic is meltable, reshapes with heat easily, and is easy to plastic weld.
