Please note this is now Version 2 owing to a dead 12 minute portion of audio in the 1st upload which was only recently reported to me by a keen listener....
Welcome to my first trial audio volume. I made it into a video so that it can be loaded and played on my KZfaq channel. YT dont seem have any system for loading just audio files as far as I can see. If anyone knows of other sites that cater to sound only I would be interested in them also.
Being for audio I would suggest playing on a TV with a good quality stereo player attached, or on your PC but please use a set of good headphones for the listening. This volume has several of my early clips which were made on very basic gear so dont judge them too harshly. Specialised preamps and better wind muffling followed later.
I have written some simple subtitles throughout this file so that while playing it you can read the notes on when and what is happening. Better than having a separate write up that could get lost. My few stills as wallpaper are several starting with the actual 1988 train recorded and a couple of other day time King Country shots. Special thanks to John Bovis for the opening daylight photograph at Raurimu in the early 80's.
I dont know how many rail enthusiasts are still even interest in sound only and so would suggest that you play in sit and relaxed mode for the complete clip and not just jumping all through it. I would also really like some feedback about the tape itself but also if you have any interest in further volumes of which I could make hundreds of hours of rail sounds that may or may not soothe some rail enthusiasts who know and love the King Country railways and for this one Raurimu in particular.
Thanks and hope you get some enjoyment and/or relaxation from it. Regards Mike Edwards
