Let's build some front suspension! In this series we are going to build a set of 1 ton axles and install them into my Land Rover Discovery. We are building suspension, steering, bumpers, sliders... basically everything we need to fit a set of one ton axles and over sized tires. Today we are tackling 3 link suspension geometry and the details involved when trying to center the axles in the chassis. I want to try and build a series around getting new fabricators ready to take the next step.
I want to warn you ahead of time about all the talking in this episode, but suspension is a GIANT subject and I want to give you the best understanding possible! Enjoy the Video!

Thanks Nate! 10 years of forum hunting hasn't given me the all in one vital white board info that you did. Gotta hash tag the shit out of this!! And for everyone that thinks Nate's very fast skip over like intro of just throwing a axle underneath the truck and using lasers and chalk marks on the floor is absurd it's really not. Don't over think it..you don't need to be so precise.. no frame table/machine needed.

After growing up around Land Rovers and building a few D2's, I'm really excited for this and I can't wait to see it finished. I sold mine for a Jeep because of the ease and capability to be built up capable of doing trails the D2 could only dream of. The price/lack of aftermarket parts, small wheel wells, and high COG just couldn't compete. All of the built D2's that I wheel with in the Jeep still don't seem to work well. I'm sure you'll have it dialed in!

Nate, thank you for these videos. I have a 1952 and a 1954 Dodge M37CDN trucks I'm building a garage/workshop to build them. One is in fairly good shape and will be built to original condition. The other will be built as a regular driver for hunting, fishing, camping, hauling, towing, trail runs and such. That will require significant driveline, steering, and suspension changes. I have yet to watch a video of yours that I didn't learn significantly from, and get the brain going. Keep them coming!

Such an awesome built, big fan of the DISCO's. Be interesting to see how the transfer case and transmission hold up over time pushing the bigger axles and tires over time. Personally, I think they should do fine.
@DirtLifestyle
@DirtLifestyle 3 жыл бұрын
Im curious about this as well. Its way under geared right now and I'm over gearing it for this build. The engine is going to rev higher on the freeway but this should take a ton of stress off of the transmission and tcase. 5.38 gears on a 37 should restore a ton of power and make hills easier then stock in theory 👍
