Had they brought in Hade Vansen as just a new dark character and had him working against job guys for a few weeks while eventually transitioning over into feuds with some of the regular superstars at that time (Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler come to mind), that would've been a better way to build him and his character up to an eventual feud with Undertaker. Bringing him in and immediately thrusting him into a program with one of your biggest and well known stars, of course Vince is automatically gonna shoot that shit down, especially if you don't exactly look the part. WWE's stupid booking failed the Hade Vansen character before it even started.

I loved the emphasis "even Hardcore Holly" on Mordecai's string of victories. His 3 victories... Brodus Clay is a legit nice guy. Poor guy never really got a proper run. Albert is in the same boat, he was a monster and was actually good, but WWE dropped the ball as they have a tendency to do. Sin Cara/Mistico was a definite disappointment after all the build for having the former AAA star joining WWE. Kizarny looks like Chris Jericho fell asleep in a box of broken markers and crayons or just Vince Neil.

I'd say Sean OHaire was a massive mis opportunity. Great athleticism, good worker, bigger guy but could still move, and charismatic. The Devil's Advocate was a very creative and unique character that really could have taken off. Not sure who to blame there...probably Vince for losing interest. It felt like a character that needs 9 months to really percolate so I think had there been an NXT at the time, he could have started there and worked up to the main roster. I think a similar theme thru most of these are "unless you are a smash hit right off the bat, Vince loves you, or the fans hijack your show until you push someone(Daniel Bryan), you will fail". We'll see if the HHH era results in characters being given more time to succeed.

Bray Watt is more a clone of Mercy, than Mordecai, Mercy was suppose to be a cult leader too. The whole gimmick Bray took from his Dan Spivey, and made it work better than Dan (Bray said it on the Austin podcast) because when Dan Spivey did the gimmick he was kinda at the end of his career and could not move like he use to. Bray added some super natural stuff to it and made it work.

Mordecai is what happens when writers create the Undertaker 7 years into his run on day 1. The genius of the UT is he was allowed to naturally evolve. Yes, the character was striking from the beginning but not completely over the top. Mordecai felt way way over produced from day and and....he just didn't have the talent Mark Calloway had. The reason Bray Wyatt worked was because he was def more talented and the character wasn't super produced early on. He also was allowed to evolved naturally. Wrestling fans can tell when a gimmick is all production and very little of the actual person playing it.

For Kizarny / Sinn Bodhi it was good that it didn't worked for him in WWE. As he said in a very old interview (should be still here on KZfaq at his old account) he wasn't released by WWE. He said he didn't wanted or feared his character would be used wrong or owned by WWE or so (am not fully sure) and that's why he got released or let himself release or so. Regardless that he had a nice wrestling career up until now and just 2 days ago he was in a fantastic 4 Way Match against Hammerstone, Schaff and Jacob Fatu for the PCW Ultra Heavyweight Title. So yeah, could it have been better for him in WWE? We don't know and never will be, but i'm personally sure his gimmick and career in WWE would never have been as good as it has been for him how it actually was .

Its weird that some peopel didn't get behind Brodus Clay as the Funkasaurus. No it didn't live up to the 'freight train', yes it was silly. But it was fun, the Funkadactyls were hot, and Brodus's dancing reminded us of Rikishi who had been a big star in the previous era combining the good wrestling with a dancing gimmick. It didn't really grant much range for the character as its hard to turn a dancing smiling guy with hot girls heel, and to take that singlet seriously at the top of the card. But his matches were generally fun to watch, the theme was catchy, the dancing was amusing which could have kept him in the upper mid card with some half decent low drama stories.
