Made me think of the man who drove to the Florida Keys and ended up reporting his wife missing. Turned out she had never made the trip with him because he'd murdered her at home.

Where he was inspired by a movie to trick the coroner by using the a/c to slow down the decomposition? ..
@somanyhumanssolittlecommon69474 жыл бұрын
That's a different case, though I know exactly what you are talking about. Actually, the man told police she had travelled with him, but they were able to check toll booth camera footage to find only he was in the car. If I remember correctly, the wife was eventually found buried under the basement floor of their home.

I once lived in the Oklahoma panhandle, working on a seismograph crew. We drilled hundred foot holes, put explosives and a detonator and wire down the hole. My job was setting off the blast when all the geophones were hooked up to a recording truck. This was the 1970s, before computers, so all you got was a print out graph that could show a pocket where oil might be found. This was flat land as far as you could see. Since at times it took hours to get everything in order, I was always bored. So to pass time, I used binoculars to watch everything from hawks to prairie dog towns while I waited. I always studied the grassland for old farmhouses. This area had been decimated by the dust bowl days of dry land farming. I owned an early metal detector, and on my time off would hunt for coins and trinkets around these abandoned places. One day I came over a small swell as I walked the 1/4 mile to my next drill hole, and saw an old farmhouse with a windmill in the yard about a mile away to my south along what was now a dry creek. I hooked up to my hot wire with my blaster pack, moved away a safe distance, (being too close would be like firing a shotgun into the air while holding the barrel by your nose), and settled in to wait for my "get ready" call. So I studied the old farm through my glasses, locating the outhouse, the cellar hump, everything. Knowing where things are in relation to each other is helpful when searching for "treasure". So I would look closely, then put down my glasses and add details to the map I was making of the place. But then, as I was pretty well finished with my sketch, I looked to see if there was anything I could add. The farmhouse was gone. Nothing disturbed the sea of scrub grass at all. The creek bed still meandered it's way, the dusty road that led up to the farm just ended in open pasture. But there was no junk machinery, no outhouse, no discarded tin, and absolutely no farmhouse. I searched that road over the next few weeks, I retraced my path to that blast hole where I had sat and sketched the farm. I talked to old timers, some of whom remembered a farm out that way, but said it had been years ago. Land records were hit and miss for anything further back than the 50s. The land was now owned by out of state investors. I didn't come up with much information. Now I know, you're thinking I was hallucinating. Trust me, working with warm dynamite doesn't allow many lapses of attention. I had explosives training from the military, and I was hired because I hadn't killed myself by being inattentive. And I had that damned sketch it showed the driveway/road, and it was still there. The dry creek was just as I had drawn it. The cottonwood trees still fluttered drably in the sun. But there was just no farmhouse or junk or even the windmill. Just the faded grass. My people had told of there being places where the world was "thin" . I hadn't understood just what this meant till then. Oh, I had seen strangeness, even as a child, but not like this. Nothing that seemed so unknowable, something that happened so fast, right out in the afternoon sunlight. That was almost fifty years ago, but sometimes it crosses my mind when I walk in the summer sun while dappled clouds drift overhead. And I shiver despite the heat, because down on a personal level, I know the world isn't always what it seems.

Wow.....trippy. How do impossible things happen to us?? When I was young I went to bed. Closed my eyes then it was morning. No. I did not go too sleep. It was impossible!! But it happened!! I've read this has happened to other people. As an adult, I went to the doctor. Went to the pharmacy, got my prescription. One week later went back to the doctor, went to the same pharmacy and everything was placed different!! The pharmacy, the bathroom, everything was placed differently. I was like maybe they did construction. A re-design. In one week tho. And there was no construction in the building last week. Tripped me out. Then I started to think I was crazy. But I'm not. I don't know. I don't know what these happenings are. It is trippy.

Wow, very interesting. There is definitely residual energy (think of heat signatures) so I wonder if “ghosts”, like apparitions showing a figure doing repetitive movements and not interacting with observers is like a “recording”. Don’t know what could replay the residual energy from an old farmhouse, though...

Two of them were on big fishing boats- never even found the boats. Two were brothers that disappeared ten years apart. I still feel so horrible when I drive past their road. The first was just I think 13 when he disappeared and then his then younger brother disappeared at 19 or 20 ten years later. We were out looking within minutes of him being called in missing- never found his snow machine either.
