Not a few, he said as per your quote not more than 100. That is giving an upper limit of 100 people in this world who hate the Catholic Church. There's no room for interpretation here he is giving a value of between 1 and 100 people in this world who hate the Catholic Church. No if's, but's or maybe's. A number has been assigned. If you don't have the data to back it up don't go giving out stupid numbers. @jendoe94363 жыл бұрын
Glad I wasn’t the only one who laughed. If ya only count the Mysteries, there’s a total of 50 Hail Mary prayers times the 3 OG Mysteries to get 150, which is meant to reflect the number of Psalms in the OT. Though technically if one prayers the 3 for Faith, Hope, and Charity, it’s 53 per Mystery and 159 total. Then add the Luminous Mysteries and ya got 50 x 4 = 200 plus 12 for the initial trio. How wonderful for those who seek Mary’s intercession! Also, the point about having more prayers to Mary and complaint about not having “repetitious prayer” would knock out not only the Lord’s Prayer, but the Psalms as they were often part of prayerful meditation and would have been repeated numerous times. Plus prayers the priests would have prayed to offer sacrifice, and for holy days and events.

White while the Catholic Church was founded in 1st CE by Jesus Christ? I was an atheist who after an encounter with Chrsit became Catholic. I always appreciated how calm and devout the Catholics were with an intellectual understanding of the faith that was very deep. They also had a great live and reverence for scripture. It was the beauty of the Catholic Christian faith and the depth of holiness within the Church that made me long to be Catholic. Jesus is present in the Eucharist Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity why would I chose any other Christian Church?

I would disagree with the "intellectual" part. Only a small percentage of Catholics have any decent amount of knowledge of the Truth in the Bible. Now that only Increases some amongst the protestants. It is very critical that man study the Bible and fine the Truth in it. The Catholics, like some Protestant, are mislead by Man, such as the Pope. Only Jesus was to be revered as Holy and above all man. Not even his mother was equal or above him. Catholics, like some Protestant, can pretend as they are not holding up the Pope to the Level of Jesus or sometimes above him. A preacher/pastor gives a sermon and the congregation needs to listen and analyze the words to see if they are True and not Twisted. No man is authorized to Change the Word of God. May we all study our Bible ourselves and pray for Guidence from God to assist use in Finding the Truth and Peace that is found in Jesus Christ only. God Bless.

@YAJUN YUAN as Trent has already explained that, Catholics didn't imply divinity when they refer to pope as "holy father". I'm not sure why you still insist that we're blaspheming. Also, FWIW, the scripture passage you quoted is originally written in Hebrew/Greek anyway, so there's a high likelihood that the two "holy father" don't even mean the same thing. Lastly if you wanna take bible literally without carefully considering the context, Jesus mentioned that we shouldn't call anyone on earth father (Matt 23:9) does that mean we should stop calling our biological parent father? Regarding the Holy Eucharist, 1) Jesus did NOT say "this is a picture of my body" or "pretend like it's my body", He said, "This IS my Body; This IS my blood". 2)Everywhere else in the Gospels, Jesus explains to his apostles what he means by the parables. Here, Jesus has no explanation as to what he really meant by "This is my body, this is my blood", 3) This was Jesus' last supper. He knew he was going to die the next day. Now, if you knew you were going to die tomorrow, wouldn't you want to get your affairs in order? You wouldn't give your loved ones cryptic information for them to figure out what you really meant, would you? I seriously doubt that Jesus would either.

Another Protestant false claim to allow themselves the right to believe that faith alone will save them thereby allowing them to do whatever they want and still be saved. But there is a problem, this is totally unbiblical. Keep reading Corinthians. “To those outside the law I became as one outside the law - not being without law toward God but under the law of Christ - that I might win those outside the law (I Cor. 9:21)”. This shows those outside the law are not won. Maybe one from Romans 2:6-7 “For [God] will render to every man according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life…” These, among many other passages prove that your position is the false gospel that you claimed Catholics peddle (if you want more…)

My husband and I left the Church after finding out a priest had molested our son. Though it seemed like a good idea at the time, we were motivated by feelings of grief, betrayal, disappointment and anger over the destruction of our son. When we first told Church officials what happened, they handled things badly. Fortunately, we returned about 10 years later, motivated by the death of our daughter. Could someone have prevented our departure from the church ? I think so. After all, one big reason for our return was realizing that everyone in the Church isn’t alike.

@@hyperloid2143 You are right, of course. When we left, we felt betrayed. It wasn’t so much that it happened. You can have a bad apple in any organization, but the lack of concern for the damage done to our son, the unwillingness to help set things right, and the fact that it could have so easily been avoided. The priest had a long history of preying on children, and had been deliberately moved to protect him. People who placed him in the parish did so with full knowledge of who and what he was. Our feelings of anger and betrayal were justified, but we were still wrong to leave the Church. It just took a long time to realize why. It doesn’t matter how many were responsible for what happened or why. The fact is that we abandoned Our Holy Mother and Jesus, her Son, because we discovered wolves in the house. It took us years to realize that instead of leaving, we should have warned others about the wolves and started working to rid Our Lord and Lady’s house of them. The Commandments about keeping the Sabbath Holy and loving God above all else don’t come with exceptions. Obeying God’s law isn’t letting guilty parties off the hook. God will deal with them in his own time. I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes! Committing a wrong yourself because you were wronged doesn’t fix anything. It just makes you guilty as well. We need to trust in God’s love AND justice. Though people frequently fail, God NEVER fails. I think Satan was allowed to put this in our path because God saw the end result. He knew we would realize these things, and ultimately return with our hearts on fire for Him, strengthened in our faith and resolved to begin helping to set things right in His Church. I should add that my son has had truly miraculous healing. He hasn’t found faith in God himself yet, but I can clearly see the influence of Our Lady and the Holy Spirit working in his life. It’s possible that this path was the only one that could have brought us all to this point together. If so, it was worth the pain.

So we work our own salvation with fear and trembling, as Paul told us to. What you have is lack of understanding, you need to study more. You are misquoting Pope Boniface VIII horribly! I invite you to investigate deeply in the subject. Read the whole papal bull (Unam sanctam). Read the history surrounding the events, why was it written? who were involved? Don’t just believe for a fact something somebody else said because you feel it good when he said it. Don’t follow your feelings but follow truth. The heart is deceiving. Do a righteous investigation of the subject, don’t be so simple in your judgement but be throughly. Don’t judge before any serious investigation has been done. With the same measure you judge you will be judged. You better get in a right standard with God. Don’t fall for self righteousness, we have not been perfected in Christ yet. Don’t be prideful but humble yourself even on your understanding of the Word of God. Treat the Word of God with respect, but most importantly treat everyone else with respect, as if they were our Lord Himself. Let’s pray our Father who is in heaven, in the name of His son Jesus Christ, to bring us understanding, and to bring His peace. God bless you!

Haven’t you heard the book of Acts where Saul was persecuting the Church, and our Lord appeared to him and said: “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," read Church history, what the early church believed, How they worshipped together, we are 2000 years after Christ, do you think the early Church got it wrong? And 2000 years later we figured it out, and todays interpretation of scripture is the right interpretation? God bless you and keep you safe!

Additionally, while one prays the Hail Mary’s, they should be meditating on the mysteries of Jesus’s life. There is no “Hail Jesus”, but there are plenty of other prayers concerning him. Edit: There are also 6 prayers that literally begin with “Glory be to the Father, and to Son, and to the Holy Spirit…” if the previously mentioned ones weren’t enough.

@Eucharist Angel clearly you did not read CCC 1821. “…heaven, as God’s eternal reward for good works accomplished with the grace of Christ.” How is that “GOOD WORKS” get you to heaven. No it’s the grace of Christ that fuels you to do good in the world and that heaven will be ones reward. 2 Cor 11:4 is not even saying what you think it is. It’s maybe implicitly saying that we should reject gospels that are contrary to Christ, (I mean duh obviously). But he’s only saying that the Corinthians too easily accepted other gospels. You are just doing the typical take one verse out of context that barely (if at all) makes your point. Even so, Trent pretty much debunked everything you just said in his rebuttal to that Josh guy. But as for the Unam Sanctam, yeah. Christ gave his apostles authority! To forgive and retain sins and to lead his holy Church! Of course one would have had to submit to the apostles after Christ’s ascension, because to not do so would be to disobey Christ. So yeah, I’m sorry, but believing that you don’t have to follow church authorities which were put in place by Christ and St. Paul, all because “you think you know better” is extremely arrogant. Now the position of the modern Catholic Church is that salvation outside of Catholicism proper, is possible… I’ve been a Protestant, I’ve tried the whole personal relationship stuff and the sola scriptura. It was confining. Embrace the vast and rich tradition of Christianity that spawns from its genesis, not from the 15th century by a mentally ill monk.

@Eucharist Angel yeah. Like I said, grace saves us but after that we are called to be paragons of his name. James 2:14-26 By the way, I love it that you are using the Bible, the canon of which was set by the early church. If somehow, the early church was Protestant, leaving interpretation of the Bible up to every individuals, there would be no set canon, there would be thousands of different canons and Bibles.

@YAJUN YUAN But Catholics do not call the Pope "Heavenly Father," we call him the Holy Father, which is different. We are calling him one of the spiritual fathers that possesses the most holy office. As trent says, it is not a claim of divinity nor does anyone really think it is, so why are protestants so concerned? This is simply one of the Catholic things that just "sounds" bad to Protestant ears but once you delve into the reasoning behind it and realize it is just a title that has no usurpation of Christ along with it, it's not really a big deal. Even so, if God is the only one called Holy Father in the bible does that inherently mean that it cannot be applied to other humans? There really is no reason to believe that... (especially if you believe in Sola Scriptura and the Bible does not explicitly say "only give title x or title y to God") Let me ask you this. Is then the Eastern Orthodox's "Ecumenical Patriarch," or literally "father of the church" also blasphemous?
@DewiiEsq3 жыл бұрын
@Eucharist Angel Here's the thing about Protestant grace theology. You use words like "FLATLY unbiblical" and then just cant explain James 2:14-26, which at least discredits your argument. Clearly, James says that the relationship between faith and works is complicated and they are closely connected (". That alone means that the idea that Sola Scriptura and Sola Gratia are incompatible, because in James it says that works "justify" our faith ("Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? "). So which is it? Are we saved by grace alone (with absolutely NOTHING to do with works) or is scripture alone the source of authority, even though that means that James 2 disproves Sola Gratia? Also I think you are reading too much into the word "help" in the CCC. Do you disagree that God's grace helps us become adopted children of Christ? All that paragraph is saying (and indeed if you read it in context it will help lol) that we have a role to play in our own salvation. We can reject salvation or we can respond to the call of God's grace. It is ironic, because if I were an outside reader just reading through the New Testament, it would seem that between Romans, Ephesians, and James that the New Testament was contradicting itself in terms of the system of justification. Protestants simply ignore James, strict legalists ignore Romans, and Ephesians, but Catholics account for all the verses. We are saved by the grace from God, but we have to respond to that grace (i.e. make a very clear action of the will) and then go out into the world and do good. Its a beautiful balance between what seems to be contradicting thoughts.

@@cimoirine It’s an apparent contradiction because the Bible also says that damnation and salvation are permanent. Praying for the dead makes no sense EXCEPT with the concept of a “purification” process like Purgatory. And the men in Maccabees were simply worried for their dead brothers upon finding foreign lucky charms on their corpses, which they should not have taken.

Maccabees is not part of the original 66 books of the combined old & new testaments of the bible.. the Roman catholic hierarchy inserted it to justify their dogmas that we can pray for the dead.. the reality is, at the point of death, ones eternal destiny is confirmed..Read Luke16:19-31.🙏

"The sacraments dont save you bc that is a works salvation..." Oh, and, (based on the same logic), asking Jesus into your heart through the "sinners prayer" is not a work? In both instances, either the sinners prayer and the sacraments, we are responding to the grace provided- via the grace's of prayer and the sacraments themselves. God doesn't need to be present in the Eucharist, but by His own will, He is.

@@Jeepjones85 I’m glad I saw your response. I’ve stayed at this Lutheran church. It is LCMS, traditional and reverent. Not bending with the times, very crucial. It is important to take Christ at His word. The Body and Blood are true, Baptism is real and a blessed, faith from God is a gift. “None may come to Father but those whom He calls.” All shared with Catholics, but that’s because the Reformation was never meant to destroy, it was meant to “reform” back to Christ as center, not Romish Authority. Purgatory, and trying to cut down your time there, or going to confession so you don’t die with a “mortal sin” on your heart (and thus go to Hell, even as a believer) these things are not biblical, and seek only to keep people dependent on the institution of Rome for their hope. There is no basis for singular authority centered in Rome, other than the Roman Empire which is where it finds its true origin. Their appeal to their own authority is circular, and they offer gnostic, special knowledge and “holy relics” as proof of their claim. Things like holy cloth touched to the bodies of incorruptible saints, or Mary’s Milk, or the liquifying saints blood, or even the Shroud of Turin are all hollow, We don’t need them. They weaken the faith because Christ is attacked on behalf of this obviously foolish and fragile mysticism. We only need Christ. I love reading the Epistles for this reason. Read Acts and Romans. You will get so much out of them. Put yourself back in time, traveling with Paul during the establishment of these early churches. That is our faith.

"The Pope has authority and has often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ." This is from Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop. Cap. - Blasphemy! NOTE...this is only "one" definition of blasphemy. Another is claiming to have the power to "forgive sins" Case in point = Mark 2:7, which states, "Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?" For some, your claim is correct. For others, there will be an endless round of rebuttals, with the claim that Trent doesn't correctly understand or represent the particular Scripture passages Trent cites in support of Trent's refutations. Patrick Madrid tells the tale of the occasion years previous when Patrick found himself on just such a treadmill, until he confronted his Protestant interlocutors with something unfamiliar that required them to think rather than parrot the prepared pat answers about particular Scripture passages.
@gregorybarrett49983 жыл бұрын
@Empyreal Hi, Empyreal. Thanks for your reply. I'm assuming that your reply was directed to my comment, and interpret your comments according to that understanding. If I have misunderstood your line of thought, please let me know. I agree with your assessment that all roads lead to Rome. While I might challenge your claim that biblical evidence is scant, your claim operates with a still more fundamental assumption. That assumption is that the weight of biblical evidence is significant. Catholics view the matter in an entirely different light. Without any special claim for Scripture, evidence is adduced for its reasonable reception as accurate and reliable historical data. This yields the Resurrection, which yields Christ's divinity. Philosophical enquiry concludes to several implications concerning divinity, including authority, omnipotence, omniscience, truth. Scripture as reliable historical data establishes the Church. The Church exercises Her authority to recognize inspiration and thus the canon, but it is the Church which governs, whether canonicity, the meaning of certain passages, or the analogy of Faith.

The Error of the Protestant Lie: "But as for the cowardly and unbelieving, and abominable and murderers, and fornicators and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their portion shall be in the pool that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Revelation 21:8, ignored by all liars. See Rev 21:27 also. It is a foregone conclusion that Jesus Christ founded only one Church. 1) Why then, do Protestants ignore this fact and continue to splinter the Body of Christ? 2) There is no Protestant who can trace his or her church back any farther than the Protestant revolt of the early 16th century. Where is the verse which authorized them to break from the true Church in the first place? 3) No Protestant can show that their church was founded by Jesus Christ, yet Scripture says there is only one Church, the one founded by GOD (Psalms 127:1, Matthew 16:18). 4) They deny that the Catholic Church is the Church which Jesus Christ founded, yet they cannot name the Church which He did found in its stead. Isn't it strange that Scripture has said that GOD's Church will last forever (Isaiah 2:2,59:21, Matthew 28:20, Ephesians 3:21), and yet Protestants refuse to name it? If Scripture can be believed at all, why then do they refuse to name GOD's one and only Church? 5) They cannot name the person who founded the Catholic Church while at the same time they deny that it was Jesus Christ. That is strange also, since every Church on earth was founded by a person with a name. Every single one of the tens of thousands of Protestant sects can be traced back to a human person with a name, as its founder. Why is it that Protestants refuse to name the founder of the Catholic Church? Isn't that the epitome of arrogance as I touched upon in a previous segment? 6) Why do Protestants spread the lie that the Catholic Church apostatized soon after the last Apostle died, and therefore the Church of today is not the one that Jesus Christ founded? This lie flies in the face of Matthew 16:18, as Protestants must then have to admit that the 'gates of hell' did indeed prevail, that the Bible was in error, and that all of the verses I have previously listed that promise the perpetualty of Christ's Church must be in error as well. This so-called "great apostasy" lie is then magnified a hundredfold since no Protestant can produce genuine historical documents which record such a "monumental, universe shaking event". Every writer who was alive at the time had to have witnessed that supposed "profound event", and those who have lived ever since (up until the time that the lie was invented by Protestantism), did not write about it either. What with the "greatest event since the crucifixion" at hand, why didn't they? It is because it never happened, that's why. Simply put, "No lie is of the truth", 1John 2:21, so therefore no lie can be proven. Scripture does say that people within Christ's Church will apostatize, but not the Church itself. For you see, it is impossible, since Christ is the Head, and the Church is His Body. How could the Body of Christ rebel against, and leave His Head? They are inseparable forever. "Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior." Ephesians 5:22-23 Okay Protestants, explain those verses? Is Christ really the Savior of His Body, or did He desert it as Protestantism would have us believe? Is Holy Scripture in error yet again according to Protestant false charges? Are we to believe the Protestant lie, or the truth of the Word of GOD? Do you recall the story of the wheat and the chaff, where the weeds will co-exist with the righteous up until the very end, and then they will be separated out and burned (Matthew 13:24-30)? "For, in the first place, when you assemble as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it, for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized." 1Corinthians 11:18-19. From those two verses we have a perfect example of the apostasy of individuals within the Church, those who cause divisions and factions. Now from what I have shown in many places in this writing, just who is the cause of divisions and factions? It is none other than Protestantism. Protestantism has already created over 36,000 divisions and factions, and which number is still increasing unceasingly every week to this very day. Who are the 'genuine among you'? They are the faithful of the one and only Church that Jesus Christ founded and which is still with us after almost 2000 years of persecution. Read Acts 5:38-39 for the reason why this longevity. For those who continue to spread the lie of the so-called, and non-existent, "great apostasy", please re-read Revelation 21:8, and endeavor to explain Ephesians 5:23-24? 7) How many verses have I shown in this writing that Protestants ignore? Isn't it a lie to say that you follow Scripture literally to the word, and yet ignore so many Scriptural verses? 8) Why do Protestants take the whole Bible literally except for John chapter 6, which they call symbolic? One chapter in the whole Bible is symbolic? How can that be true? 9) How can Protestants say that Sola Scriptura has been in use from day one, when for over 1400 years almost no one had a Bible, and even if they did, the great majority of the masses were illiterate anyhow? 10) Since Protestants believe that "all Scripture is inspired (2Tim 3:16)", then why aren't the gospels of Peter, Philip, Nicodemus, Bartholomew, Andrew, Thomas, etc, in their Bible? 11) Where in Holy Scripture did Jesus give instructions that the Christian faith is to be solely based on a book? How about the same question except for using the Apostles instead of Jesus? 12) Why do Protestants say it is the Bible which is the pillar and foundation of truth when the Bible clearly says it is the Church (1Tim 3:15)? Please give me the name of that Church? 13) Why do Protestants reject Apostolic Tradition when the Bible clearly says, "So then, brethren, stand firm and hold the teachings that you have learned, whether by word or by letter of ours." 2Thessalonians 2:15, yet another verse ignored, and taught against by Protestantism. 14) Why do Protestants deny that the Bible came from the Catholic Church when they cannot name a truthful and provable alternate source, and where there are literally hundreds of genuine historical documents which prove them to be wrong in their denial? 15) Protestants deny that Peter was given primacy in Matthew 16:18. Nothing in Scripture is done without a purpose. For what purpose then, did Jesus change Simon's name to Peter? 16) Why do Protestants deny that the Papacy is Scriptural, when in fact, it is very Scriptural? 17) Why is it that Protestants can never supply genuine historical documents to "prove" their false charges? Is it because the lie can never be proven, but the truth can be? It is simple, if you have no truth, then you have no proof. Catholics can, and do, supply genuine historical documents to prove what they teach. Why then do Protestants refuse to read them? Romans 1:18, 2:8 18) Why do Protestants deny the unbroken line of succession of Popes down through the centuries from St. Peter to the present Pope, when the Catholic Church has given free access for anyone to research genuine historical documents to prove it to be true, but Protestants refuse to read them? Anyone can go to a secular encyclopedia and see the same succession of Popes. 19) Why do Protestants deny that the Catholic Church has existed from the first century, when hundreds of genuine historical documents, written by scores of Holy men and women, are freely available to prove them wrong in their denial? However, Protestants simply refuse to read them. As explained earlier, Protestants teach that history ended with Acts 28:30 and did not begin again until Luther came along. 20) I saved the worst Protestant lie as the last one on this list. When asked who founded the Catholic Church, there are some who answer correctly that it is Jesus Christ who founded it, but they quickly add that the Catholic Church fell into apostasy and is not the same Church today as the one founded by Jesus. Of course they have no documented proof of this world shaking event as to the who caused it and when and where it happened. By making this false charge they may have condemned themselves because they have just called Jesus Christ a liar. You see there are verses in Holy Scripture which they either choose to ignore or do not understand, and the verses show that Jesus in fact did promise that His Church would last for all time and so did St Paul:

Hi Trent, excellent rebuttal! Here is one for you that I saw recently: History Buffs: Agora, with over a million views about the killing of the female philosopher and scientist, Hypatia. He does historical analysis of films, but I find that there are some misconceptions of the early Church and its Fathers and apologists, such as St. Cyril of Alexandria and Tertullian; he also leaves out some information that sides with Cyril in the matter. Also, on the other hand, I do find it interesting that my books on the Church Fathers ( by Mike Aquilina and Pope Benedict XVI) that cover St. Cyril leave out his political struggle with the Prefect Orestes and the religious tension in the city. The film does take some liberties with the events and so does History Buff with his analysis; he tries not to pin any blame on the city's issues on Christians, Jews or Pagans as a whole, but he does try to link it you Cyril for the most part, as well as paint religion and science being at odds as well as a fallacy that the Christians destroyed the last vestiges of the Great Library, which I know are not true.
