It's December 2021, 1 month from 2022, 2 months from Winter Olympics! We are planning a series of video to show the development of figure skating over the past 100 years. Part I - Jumps. How long did it take for mankind to develop single, then double, then triple, then now quadruple jumps? What's the future of figure skating got to offer to us? Let's take look! 😀😀

Hanyu’ s elements, he does it out of nowhere. That makes him unique of all skaters. Other skaters when they execute a jumps, it destroyed the entire program because they want a good landing. While Hanyu execute it with follow up step sequence and arms raise with artistry. It looks easy for him While it is difficult combination of elements. That makes him unbeatable whether others executed quintiple jumps with combination, Hanyu’s acceleration cannot be defeated. I apologized for those haters, jealous and envious, I just express my opinions.

Nathan,Yuzu and Yuna's jumps are sooo satisfying to watch. Clean edge, tight air position and full rotation! It's so hard to find that quality these days even tho the ladies are doing multiple quads. Seems current skaters only focus on the quantity, not the quality.

Exactly! 3Lo is the first landed triple jump but the last landed quadruple jump (beside 4A). That's what we had been saying, what's easy at single / double/ triple level might not be easy for quadruple level, such as edge jump. 4Lo is probably the hardest quadruple jump besides 4A, quite undervalued now..

It’s worth mentioning that in 1991 Tonya Harding became the first American woman to land a tipple Axel, and the first ever to land a 3A, 2T. She was also the first to land a 3A in a short program, and the first to land 2 of them in one competition. I know she’s controversial, but with so many firsts, I think she’s worth mentioning.

This is the best video you have ever done.... Fantastic!!!! One thing I was hoping to see was Plushenko's quad toe-triple toe-triple loop combination landed... Here is the link to the GPF in 2002 or 2003 where he hit it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iZ2Hi6-kr9Klmas.html When I watch Plushenko at this stage in his career I am reminded just how great and magnetic he was. Hanyu and Chen have surpassed his level of difficulty by a lot as you watch Plushenko doing a 'bunch of silly triple jumps throughout the rest of his routine after the quad..' but Plushenko has charisma and a manner of performance that still exceeds what Nathan does to this day. Nobody I Have every seen has the overall charisma of Hanyu..... I am also so thrilled you showed David Jenkins' triple Axel from 1957... Sure he didn't have the super efficient flox air position of the best skaters today, but it was phenomenal... So high and effortless__ and in 1957 no less... When you think Dick Button was piddling around doing a double axel in the early 50's and then David Jenkins' just thinks to himself, 'hmm, I think I'll just do a triple Axel...." Unbelievable.... And to think People like Scott Hamilton could not do that jump almost 30 years later.... One other person conspicuously missing in this video is Brian Orser... In my opinion, Brian Orser is the prototype for every skater doing quadrupled jumps today. His was the first triple Axel that is every bit as good as any triple Axel today or that had ever been done... Perfect air position with right leg straight with right foot flexed and free leg wrapped tightly for the most efficient air position.... There is a phenomenal video of Orser and Sabovcik doing quads in practice that I will post a link to. Both Orser and Sabovcik we're doing incredible quads in practice in 1985... Here it is:. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJh5lLOJzJyokXk.html Sabovcik was an incredible specimen for jumping. He was 5'9" and only about 130 lbs. Both of his parents were ballet dancers hence his superior genetics.... And think about it, both these guys had to practice figures 4-6 hours per day and THEN practice freestyle.... Amazing!

Glad you like the video 😉 Yeah Sabovcik always had very still body. I can’t remember if it was you who told us about his 3A, almost still going into that entry, it’s quite amazing. I feel sorry for Eteri’s skaters. Most of them were unable to compete after a certain age (plus giving way to new skaters) and then get an injury that leads them to early retirement. Bad techniques! Always using the upper body only that leads them to back injury ( Tursynbaeva and Medvedeva).
@FigureSkatingFan
@FigureSkatingFan 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah when Zhenya opened up that she couldn’t even turn to her left side of the body and lost almost all her jumps except Salchow, it’s heartbreaking. But I’m kinda torn in between coz without Eteri we wouldn’t have all these amazing skaters like Zhenya, Alina, Sasha, Anna, Aliona, Kamila etc..

@@FORJUSTIC eh, I have to disagree. Lipnitskaya, Medvedeva, Tursynbaeva all had to retire very early because of injuries and there are more whose names are less famous with a similar outcome. Zhenia's injury happened while she was with Eteri as she herself stated, she tried to come back with Orser, changing her whole technique (which is why that season wasn't very successful: you need time to adjust technique), but between covid and injuries she eventually had to stop. Zagitova didn't officially retire because of an injury, she didn't officially retire at all, but since she stopped it's clear she couldn't keep pushing herself and since she had accomplished enough, she stepped away from completion, but bear in mind that she was 17 when she called it quits and skaters can theoretically improve till their late 20s. We'll see what happens with 3A, Aliona is already struggling because of last year's back injury, which makes me very sad, because her skating is so so beautiful. I won't make predictions about Anna, because never a good idea to bet against her and well, Sasha has goals and I do see her beating the odds and surviving the next quad maybe, we'll see. The others are all still too young. Anyways, Eteri's track record isn't good and this cannot be denied. Her skaters are all some of the best in the world, but none of them has good technique and that doesn't work in the long term, clearly.

Katarina Witt was the first woman to do triple flip, she was not the first skater to do triple flip as stated in your video. There is no record as to which skater did it first but I know for sure that Terry Kubicka landed one at 1976 Olympics, David Santee landed one at 1977 Worlds and Fumio Igarashi was doing them around 1978/1979. So yes kudos to the great Katarina for landing one in 1981 but she was not the first skater to land 3 flip.
