11 Hour Luxury Caledonian Sleeper Train Scotland to London… here’s what it was like!

The solo adventures move full speed ahead! After stepping off United Polaris Business Class, I continue with the Luxury Theme and book myself an Overnight Journey on a Luxury Sleeper train taking me from Scotland to England. Welcome to The Famous Caledonian Sleeper Train! Join me as I spend 11 Glorious Hours in one of the Best Rooms on the whole train, The Caledonian Double - as the name suggests, I have a giant double bed, complete with my own private ensuite bathroom!
I'll take you with me every step of the way, from the moment I leave Aberdeen train station (where I check out the First Class Lounge!) all the way down to London Euston station. We'll take a look at the food (dinner and breakfast), a room tour of my Premium Cabin, what it's actually like to shower on a train and all of the amenities provided along the way.

Hej hej allihopa! ("Hey everyone" in Swedish) We are Chloé, the Kiwi, and Ludvig, the Swede. We met at a Ski Resort in Canada and have since been travelling the whole world together. So far... we got engaged in the snowy mountains, hiked through Norway, flown a propeller plane around Sweden, visited 20 (ish) US states, cruised through the Mediterranean, Iceland and Greenland, road tripped through the whole of New Zealand in a campervan and now we're in the process of moving to CANADA! Phew! Clearly we hate the word boring.
Our aim is to provide you with helpful travel tips and entertainment from around the globe, hopefully inspiring you to EXPLORE MORE! We love adventure ...with a touch of luxury. You can expect to see lots adventure, along with a generous dose of unique hotels, AirBnbs, luxury stays and business class flights (lol, I say this with my fingers AND toes crossed) ...(YAAASSSS I did it!!!!!!).

I loved what you said about traveling solo! I have weird anxiety about doing stuff alone (especially getting out of my safety zone by traveling) so I'm really working towards getting to the point where I can just, like, do all of this leisure traveling alone and actually enjoy the journey rather than feeling anxious. You make it look SO fun and liberating!

Ohh it’s a work in progress! It feels very strange when you first do it but after a while you realise there are so many positives to traveling solo! I’m addicted now 😆

That is soooooooo coooooool. Yes I would travel up to Aberdeen just for that sleeper. Worth it for the bathroom alone. I love how you don't edit out the figuring out how things work. It's what I would do. Love the toiletries bag.

Great video! I think you missed it but there's a fold out table under the sink if you ever travel on the caledonian again, so you can have a proper sit down meal and drink in your room 😂 looks like you had a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to traveling on the caledonian with my dog later this year

I've just discovered your channel, and I'm so glad that I did! I LOVED what you were saying about enjoying traveling with your partner, but that he simply doesn't appreciate some of it the same way you do. My partner is the exact same, and sometimes I feel sad that we don't do more travel together. This was such a great reminder that I can totally book things in for myself and enjoy the solo adventure!

This is totally something I would do and I actually have done something similar. In 2016, I traveled with a friend from Bath to Paddington on GWR on a Sunday afternoon. I then spent the evening in the lounge and boarded the Night Riviera to Penzance, overshooting my final destination of Fowey (that isn’t on the rail line). I did all this on purpose so I could experience the Night Riviera, have a nice morning walk along the coast in Penzance, then train to St. Austell to hire a car for 4 days in Cornwall with a home base in Fowey. People thought my itinerary was crazy, but I totally loved it.

@@chloeandludvig I loved the Night Riviera. Very comfortable and pleasant experience. The only issue was that I traveled in November and there was an issue of wet leaves on the rails. That delayed us somewhat between Exeter and Penzance.

You are such a great commentator! Brava! You and Lucky Ludvig would also enjoy business class on Virgin Atlantic, called Upper Class, with a great lounge at LHR! Possibly a ride in a large car from London is included at an extra charge!

I booked my trip months ago and all of the doubles were taken already. I booked the club room instead Edinburgh to London. I will take it in mid-September. It looks like the Waverly Station lounge is still closed, but they have a nearby lounge set up at a hotel.

I had the same issue when trying to book my double room! The seem to sell out very quickly!! Hence why I opted for a last minute change to a more inconvenient location haha. I’m sure the club room will be awesome (photos look cool!)

Would totally do that itinerary! Odd though at that price point that there isn't a small desk and/or additional seating in the room as having to dine on the bed is verboten to me!

Yes great point! We’ll I guess they do offer their beautiful restaurant cart to sit properly and eat a meal at a table, however I chose to stay in my room😊 great to know you’d also take the same route as I did!

if you want to wake up feeling more rested, sleep in intervals of Three hours. You will feel more rested after three hours than four hours. More rested in 6 hours than in seven hours.

Your ticket was so expensive because you’re paying technically for two people to share that one room you’re in. If you took an extra person with you, it would’ve cost you zero more pounds

Third world is a stretch. The views are more accessible in Amtrak roomette or bedroom with the big windows and you have seat and table in room. You get your food on real china now, all three meals included with sleepers, plus salad and dessert with dinner, complimentary water, coffee, soft drinks, plus a complimentary alcoholic beverage everyday. Plus, a Hot shower! Lol Her doible bed does look so comfy though on this trip.
