Best thing about your gift ideas is that they are secretly really just for putting on your own wish list for Santa.

Channel locks... That's what I grew up calling those big slip joint pliers you had. Nowadays I use slip joint and channel locks interchangeably. Also I LOVE that pencil. I've never seen that before. Definitely a gift for my father in-law. Prolly pick one up for myself too 😊

My favorite tool that I seem to use on every project (like your red bar) is my 5-in-1 paint tool. Such a simple, unimpressive looking tool that I couldn't go without. It's a pry bar, scraper, screwdriver, hammer when you need it to be, etc...

The tools you have on this list are definitely well worth it for home owners. The only two I do not have is the heavy duty pencils, on the voltage indicator. That is the one I need to get now. I have done a few light switches in the house and had to turn the power off to half of my house to feel safe. And I think you are rite,... Water pump pliers. Thank you Shannon, you are the G.O.A.T.

As an American, I would recommend getting a metric tape measure. I have to measure in standard to start a job but once I have bought all the supplies I use metric. So much easier.

As always a great video from and honest contractor - I recently bought a small pen light that I use frequently. With eye sight waning, I need good lighting. Cheers

That utility knife is great as a hint though I bought some years back a stanley utility knife like that one it had place to have some 2 or 3 blades under the one being used I still have it getting a little old but I do the same extending it from time to time to trim something or another, carefully ofcourse.

I just had to replace my HRV air exchanger (25 yrs). Balanced it my self with a digital manometer ($55 on Amazon). I think the original Venmar was oversized at 150 cfm, the new one is 100 cfm. An interesting DIY project, saved a lot of money, and hopefully helps reduce heating cost. I think balancing is key, and it should be checked yearly, thus I bought the manometer. Any videos on this?

Water pump or groove joint pliers are both appropriate names. Many people call them Channel Locks, but that's actually a brand name that has become generic like Vise Grips or Skil Saw.

A good headlamp from Harbor Freight is a great item to have too. The Braun or Quantum brands they have there are decent headlamp lights. Hammers...In my rolling box, I have a 21z Vaughn framing hammer with waffle face and a 16z Estwing with smooth face as my finishing hammer. Not too sure what makes the best finishing hammer, I'm just using the lightest and less damaging hammer with smooth face.

The only comment I have is regarding the utility knife, we use safety ones at work that have an automatic retractible blade, the common Stanley knife has caused more injuries than we realize.
