I've learned budgeting from my grandma. 👍 When I was a child, she gave me a pen and a little notice book. And the most important tip, you need money for one washing machine. 👍 😍 😂 Greetings from OreMountains Germany. Cathy Kaden 🤩

I check my bank account first thing in the morning. Since the majority of my bills are autodraft, as soon as they come out they go on my budget app. I do carry a small amount of cash for purchases at places like the vegetable stand I buy fresh produce from...the amount spent comes out of my grocery section as soon as I get home. Big fan of tracking every penny!

I would like you to do a video on raising your credit score because when you pay off debt your credit score goes down. You need a decent credit score for insurance and many other things. We have very very little debt and don’t want to take out any loans but I would really appreciate an intelligent video about this subject. We all are not millionaires like Dave who wants you to have a credit score of zero. You are so intelligent and compassionate with excellent advice and we all appreciate it so much!

You’re the first person who has said that about cash, I thought it was only me. When I use cash (only use when it’s all they will accept, so rare), but it doesn’t register in my brain the same way. It’s not tracked in my account so it’s easy to forget I made the purchase.

I simply write a list of all my bills for each month, 1 or 2 months at a time. I include the date they are due by. That is all I need to never forget a bill to pay. What is there at the end of the month goes to savings. Easy peasy.

I am basically very frugal, and one thing i would like to add is that frugal people take care of their things like not banging doors, not stamping on their laptop, like being gentle with their things, that is their possessions shd not spoil bcz of mishandling. i cant breath hypothetically without planning, like budgeting, meal planning. It is more like a game for me,how i and in how many ways i can save money, but not miserly ways, more intentional.

Hi Kate! I truly believe everyone should make up their own system by using different methods to create their own budget as you mentioned. I take any yearly income like taxes, Stimulus checks, unexpected income, etc., to pay for yearly services, yearly home improvements, DMV, Insurance, etc. This allows me to have less categories and make budgeting easier. Thanks for sharing this list!😉👍💕

I budget every paycheck in a spiral notebook. I track all my expenses and savings. I check it everyday. I also check all of my every credit card apps daily, even cards I’ve paid off that have a zero balance. I also highlight categories. A deposit is green, total of insurance and fixed expenses are pink, etc. I enjoy doing it, it’s part of my routine. I also write s goal on the top of the page, which is to have 1 month of paychecks in the bank and continue my spending freeze, essential things only. I’m almost there, and it’s because I’m tracking everything. I’m so I glad I found your channel, I watch several of your videos daily. They’re keeping me motivated and on track!!

Where do I begin, I have been married for over 16 years. NEVER could get hubby to look at our budget. A few months ago he said we need to do the budget together. OK! Turns out someone told him about Dave Ramsey and now he thinks he an expert on our finances. 🤣 not even close. He hated the envelope system so I got rid of it. The short of it is we discussed it the first month, he looks at the bank account and questions me on this and that and doesn’t look at the budget I write…at all. We have been totally debt free from 20 months. He’s TOLD me to stop using my credit card and only use the debit card. 😡. That didn’t happen. I use the card for the rewards cash and as soon as the charge comes in I pay it off. BOUNCE my fico score has gone up 6 points and his has dropped 17, I’m now highly than him. I’m in the 800’s and he isn’t.

[sheepishly raises hand] I have not gotten into the habit of saving for Christmas...YET. I'm new to budgeting in a serious way (I used to do the whole "eh, here's what I owe, here's what's left...oh look, I have a credit card, let's buy ALL THE THINGS"; but I cracked down on budgeting on the first of August). But I will do it. I need to do it. It helps me to handwrite where my money has gone and doing a check-in on where I am. With color coding for categories. Writing things down by hand puts it into perspective for me, and manually subtracting it from my budget makes me question if I needed to spend that much, or spend any, or whatever.

I can't even imagine not having a budget!! One thing I do daily that keeps me from overspending is to track my expenses. In the beginning it's a bit of a hassle, but it becomes a habit over time. It will show you how much you've spent and how much you have left to spend in each category.

I budget with an excel sheet because I plan yearly. It really helps me to be flexible if something unexpected comes up, since I can see how that will affect goals and what I can move around to accommodate it. Helps me to reduce money stress 🌞 Also cash does feel like monopoly money to me, I "feel" it just fine when spending digitally, since I see it all on my bank/cc apps. Cash is for random tolls, parking, and small businesses that don't accept cards. That's rare, so I rarely have more than 30 bucks cash at any given time.

I take out 15- 20% of my meat portion for dinner since a month of two. and use eggs more often as protein, if I put a bit of meat aside it will be my lunch the next day on a sandwich, salade or soup. A lot cheaper than buying slices of meat.... For some years I meal plan, making simple meals ( few ingredients) from scratch for two days , using up everything every week. Buy once a week with a grocery list that is based on menu including breakfast lunch and dinner for that week. Plan or make a leftover soups or stew with some stock added to pasta and or (sauce) meat, veggies, potatoes, rice or whatever you have. A bit of stock makes two servings to four when needed..or freeze it for next week!! Super quick and save on a take out on busy night.

Hi dear, I check my bank app almost everyday, until all bills are paid (most on autopay). The supermarket brings most groceries and send the bill afterwards in an email. When i buy something there (just around the corner) I want a receipt and write it in a checkbook or sometihng similar. Now since I am used to that I know every cent where it goes. This gives rest and confidence.

For things like anneversaries,wedding/baby/retirement/holidays,maybe start buying little things year round.especially holiday gifts.thats one area you save more shopping year round rather than last minute.from right now until christmas, stores are jacking prices way, way, way up.

I have Christmas shopping done a year in advance. I shop for the basics for each person, then if/when I find that "special", "unique" gift the impact on the budget is minimal.

Kate, I am the opposite of you w cash. I feel like letting go of hardcore cash actual money is more difficult than swiping a card that's just kind of sort of imaginary money.. I have to really limit myself because before I know it I spent a 130 $150 that day. Then I get upset when I get home and write it in my book. I like to see 000 day after day and my book. No spend days as much as possible as my goal. I get really upset when I have to spend any money at all outside of taking care of my animals or getting gas. I even dumpster dive to make sure I don't spend on groceries. I probably go to a grocery store 3 times a year and I buy very little when I do.... but I eat VERY well!!!

I agree Kate. When I spend cash there is no record of where it goes. I do much better using my debit card. I can see where and when the money was spent. It keeps me.on track. The one thing I do is each morning at 7:00am my bank sends me text on each of my accounts for me to check each balance. They also text me every time my card is used, how much was spent and the balance.

I agree.to budget effectively, you have to know your income. If it varies, under the median has a video on how to budget when income varies. The easiest way, base it off the lowest pay you get. 4 walls first.food. Shelter Transportation Utilities Insurance. Savings/sinking funds LIVE BELOW YOUR MEANS!!!!!. You.do not need that porsche.a honda will do the exact same thing.lower insurance, and maintenence. Call insurance and utility companies to find ways to lower your rates.

As an older adult I MUST be putting money away for retirement. You have to look at which is going to benefit you more a 1% interest car payment or a 5%+ return on investments.

Not hint Christmas is in December. That triggered me it reminded me of my ex. Yikes. Lol. Anyway I started tracking my spending in a planner. That way I have a visual of what I spent, and where.

The falacy that you don’t owe anyone is dangerous. You have your phone bill for your cell phone, plus utilities etc not to mention taxes! If you own a home you pay your mortgage plus taxes etc. This constantly changes.

I would say the one thing that helps m6 finances is to ask myself with clothing or a dollar tree purchase or something from 2almart or target is to ask myself, do I actually need this? Am I trying to impress someone (the Jones’s) by having this?q

I save £80 a month ( auto at start of month) for birthdays & Christmas. I have Dad, Son, Daughter, Sister and Daughter- in Law's birthdays all in the next month. The money this there and waiting and I will still be left with £100s to help me through Christmas. I used to HATE starting every New Year in the red in my chequeing account 🙃
