I've wanted to preserve honey suckle syrup since we've lived here! After 7 years I finally have the opportunity to invest time in the fun things around the property. For this recipe it's equal parts honey suckle blossoms, water and sugar. Just steep the blossoms then strain and dissolve in sugar. Water bath can this product in clean jars for 10 mins.
Honey Suckle simple syrup can be added to whatever you like, ice water, iced tea, summer cocktails, popsicles, frosting flavoring, hot tea, even coffee. Experiment with ways you want to use it.

Last year our 13 year old granddaughter wanted to make Peony jelly😊 My peonies were in full bloom. She found a recipe and made a beautiful jelly. She waterbathed canned for the first time and is hooked😂🤣😂 It was a great teaching time for the proper method to waterbath canning. This "Gramz" was blessed by her enthusiasm 💖💕

Never heard of honey suckle simple syrup. Your right when you reach a certain age you most likely have everything you need. I know I don’t need anything. I’m 59 and don’t want stuff any more. Food gifts are the best.

Honeysuckle is the scent of my childhood. There was honeysuckle growing all over our property and we would sit for hours as children and suck on the stems. I can't wait for us to move so I can plant honeysuckle. Thank you for a great idea to use it.

Sometimes it’s not about not knowing that they’re edible but that the farmers spray everywhere! I love farmers, I’m thankful for farmers, I’m just saying it does make foraging in farm country more difficult. The sprayer honeysuckle still smells amazing though!!!

Aww. This video took me back 50 years. We used to suck the nectar after pulling the flowers off. I haven’t see honeysuckle in so many years. Can people buy seeds for honeysuckle? They always grew and climbed like a vine over the chain link fence. Thanks for the memories from this video. 😊 I love your channel. Thank you for all your effort. Your videos are so enjoyable.

One of our best purchases ever was a Soda Stream. I can our own lemonade concentrate. When we reconstitute it, we dilute it with two thirds water. To serve, we mix one half to 3/4 sparkling water to lemonade. It's so refreshing and relatively low in sugar. I've started making my own simple syrups to use in the same way. It's also great with unsweet iced tea and flavorings for kombucha second ferment.

This looks fun; I will try it! For the love of God, though, people; DO NOT plant japanese honeysuckle where it isn't native! It is a horribly noxious weed that is an absolute scourge and near impossible to get rid of. Either use native varieties or keep your japanese honeysuckle in containers where the roots can't escape.

I'm glad you are having a restful and joy-filled summer/garden break! I wish we had honeysuccle on our property. Do you have any Lilac bushes there that you could also make syrup with? I am a northerner from NH and then CO transplanted down to TX. If there is one bush I miss the most it's the scent and the beauty of a hardy lilac bush.

I was looking around for a recipe to make a flavored simple syrup and I’m now doing this exact process with lavender. I did find that I had to use a little more water than the amount I had in lavender. But I also was a stronger flavor. If it turns out well I plan to do this with mint, lemon, and blueberries.

I only have 1 honeysuckle bush remaining. We had to clear a lot of my land/ yard as trees were too old & dying so my significant cleared quit alot, i wish i hadnt goven him the go ahead, he kinda went into overkill, really the yard needed it but i miss my trees and wild greenary. Im so tired of rain too, i would go into my woods g start doing some transplants, i guess i still can, just worried about falling & breaking a bone hahaha, but i am 62, not spring chicken anymore

It never dawned on me to can simple syrup. I had been freezing it. I gather that you can add different flavors like you suggested or leave it just plain and water-bath can it. My question is can you reduce the sugar say to 2/3 c per cup of water and still have it be safe to can? I find the 1:1 is a bit too sweet for my liking.

We used to do that with honeysuckle from the hedge across the street when I was six, before before we moved to Canada. I don’t it think it grows in our zone. I’m not sure if I would pick from city parks, I know they spray for mosquitoes so I would have to do some research.
