Lou Costabile I've owned over 50 cars since I was 19. '55 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, '60 Thunderbird, '65 Riviera, '67 Eldorado, '68 Firebird 400, '69 Grand Prix. I'm 55 now and hunting for a '64 Grand Prix or a '64 Corvair Monza coupe with Powerglide. Whichever comes first....lol. Although I have viewed several of your My Car Story videos, this one made me a subscriber. It shows the beauty of the classic car without the velvet rope/Barrett Jackson/Pebble Beach overtones. There's nothing wrong with 100% factory original, Petersen Museum quality cars, however inspiration and inclusion should focus on unique models and I appreciate that you recognize and showcase these cars and their owners. My mother bought a new, fully loaded, '65 Corvair Monza Sport Sedan. It was a soft yellow color with black bucket seat interior, AC, and Powerglide. Before selling it in '69, she had it repainted and had a black pebble grain vinyl top installed. It really made a beautiful design look sophisticated. A newlywed snapped it up the first week the ad ran. They gushed over it. Then she ordered a new, late production model, '69 Grand Prix Model J in the '67 Chevrolet color Deep Water Blue. She added a Parchment Cordova grain vinyl top and paid extra for '70 Parchment leather interior instead of the '69 Parchment Morrokide offering. 400 HO V8, THM, PS, PB, PW. AC, Pwr Drivers Seat,Tilt, AM/FM with Verbra-Phonic rear speakers, Concentric circle PMD wheel covers. It seemed like that car would never arrive at Van Winkle Pontiac in Dallas. I still remember the reaction from our salesman and customers when they pulled it out and started removing the plastic from the front seats upon arrival. My mouth hit the floor, she beamed, the salesman looked surprised and other people started encircling it. In profile it had such a nautical look. The way the white sail panel on the top rose from that deep blue color made you think you were standing at the beach looking at the horizon. Whether either car would be considered correct depends on the individual rendering the opinion, but without question, both cars, especially the GP, were strikingly handsome. Thank you for showcasing the beauty of uniqueness.

Bill - I didn't mention that the front bucket seats are mounted on a bench seat frame, so they move fore and aft together. The seat frame goes through a slot in the front console, and is visible when either of the front seats are swiveled out.

Hi Steve - Squarish steering wheel first appeared in Chryslers in 1963 - our 1963 Newport sedan, that I learned to drive on, had one of these. Plymouths, however, started having them in 1960. Not sure why the big differences in timing between these Chrysler Corp. models. Many of the 1960 300-Fs did have power seats, but my car, seen in this video, did not come from the factory with them. Power windows were a standard feature on the 300, as were the swivel seats. You didn't see it demonstrated in this video, but the front bucket seats are mounted on Chrysler's bench seat frame, so the seats move forward and back together, not independently of each other, since so few of these bucket seat cars rolled off the assembly line! Power seats are the same way. And the Chrysler record players - I think the play speed was actually a slow 16 2/3 - were not available from the factory in the 300-F cars, because of the console. However, I've seen a couple 300-Fs with these record players installed by their owners. Noel

@@noelhastalis6785Thx for the reply. Theres a You Tube video showing the record player, it's an RCA brand, aftermarket was ARC (tricky eh?) which I had one. 45 rpm and could play 13 records. Before mobile tape, this was our first opportunity to select what we wanted to here. Steve

Thinking about your question - the Olds Starfire was reintroduced in 1961, the Riv in 1963. Of course Chevys with their 409s, but we'd consider those competition with the '60 Fury Sonoramic Commando (383 ram induction Plymouths). Can't think of other US '60 cars with 4 bucket seats, full console, etc.

Dash speedo & gauge cluster - Electroluminesent - 1960 thru 1962 Chryslers. I've seen the cable operated swivel seats on 4-door 1960 New Yorkers and DeSotos, but not on any 300s. Swivel seats were standard or available, depending on model for 1959-1961.

@Mice Elf yes sound is a huge deal with cars. A video I thought was kind of cool was Doug demuro on the Lexus LFA. The guys that designed the car wanted to emphasize the sound of the engine and they had the Yamaha Musical instrument makers come in and tweak the design a little to make the engine sound better. I thought that was really cool.
