All Saints Day is a good day to thank all those (since gone) who, in my childhood and adolescence, have awakened me to gospel. And thanks to KZfaq for giving me so much joy over half a century later. Shared on FB, November 1, 2019

Great voices. Hard to find unique song leaders like the ones in the 60's.

They turn out to be the Gospelaires of Dayton (Ohio). The song is titled Gospel Train. This performance was part of a (too!) short set, taped at the 7th Festival de Jazz d'Antibes, on July 26 or 27, 1966. It was first aired by ORTF on January 4th, 1969. The magnificent lead singer is Bob (Robert) Washington. You really MUST add that little encore; the kneefall will make every deep soul & gospel fan happy for a month;-!

If those gentlemen singing to exalt and magnify Jesus Christ had had the right audience, nobody would be simply sitting down! They would have had a rejoicing audience that glorified God with them, and it would have shown! Praise ye the Lord, fellas!!!

I love this group. These old school groups always looked on point. This whacked out camera work is enough to drive you up the wall. Producers that pull this stunt drive me nuts because they're trying to do so much fancy production work by cutting to different shots left and right until you can't even get a sense of what the service was like. I know it's probably just me that feels this way. But they really agitate me.

I thought the Gospelaires were from Southeast Virginia and sounded like the Gospel Keynotes? I will listen to other songs.

Great song! Not the guys that backed Mahalia in '68, though. And most probably not the Drayton Singers at all. If you have songtitles/more footage of this concert, I can research it further.

The singer looks to have aged a lot in a few years from their live "I'm feelin' it" performamce..
