1970 Buick GSX Prototype Show Car Muscle Car Of The Week Episode 284 Video V8TV
Interview With Owner Brad Conley: • Muscle Car and Corvett...
Most of us have a particular car that left a mark on us, and this Muscle Car Of The Week left a burnout on host Kevin Oeste’s brain like a Buick 455 burning bias ply tires across a slick parking lot. This week, Oeste is united with a childhood dream car, seeing the 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1 “Prototype” show car in person for the first time at the 2018 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago. It was one of many special moments from the MCACN show, and a great example of why all muscle car fans should attend this amazing event. Special thanks to car owner Brad Conley for the personal tour of the GSX.

what a wonderfull story !! in the summer of 1974 i was less than 2 years old i saw my father's new used car at work. i still remember to this day the white color and red taillights of the 1964 buick skylark custom sports wagon was burned into my eye. i grew up outside the usa but through my father i got the american v8 virus. i have seen and experienced things with cars that are unique, that i never even dreamed of.

The 1970 Buick GSX is also my dream. I am only 20 and I found this car in one of my dad's magazines when I was 8. When I saw that GSX, I just fell in love. And today 12 years later, it still remains my dream car. Hopefully someday I will have one. I can totally relate to what you are feeling. Love your videos. Keep it up.

The GSX is at the top of my favorite Muscle car list. These cars have it all, looks, and performance. Buick should have used the engine turning on the interior more often, it adds a lot of class to the car. My Dad drove Buicks all of his life, and I guess I became a fan when I was young. His 53 Road Master had engine turned inserts on the dash.

Man, Buicks sure do look different these days. To have lived in the time where muscle cars were the big thing must've been just awesome. You also had great music and great television shows and great movies, guns were much cooler too. What a time in American history.

Those seats are wild and unmistakable and I think that’s awesome the owner let you sit in it. Probably my favorite Buick of all. We have good taste in cars.

that is one incredible looking car, it is a “gentleman’s muscle car” I remember hearing that line somewhere about Buick’s GSX, I had a 70 Monte Carlo in the early 80’s I think it road on the same chassis, i customized it as well, loved the GM long nose/short deck cars. Keep bringing these gems to light for us!

Im typically more of a Mopar/Ford guy.....but the Buick GS/GSX and Oldsmobile 442 were probably overall the nicest cars of the muscle car era. Both really fast and nice, comfortable cars to drive too. In my opinion, Chrysler built the best high performance drivelines, but GM cars had better fit and finish than both Mopar or Ford. Really I love all the muscle cars from that era regardless of the manufacturer

you know what would be hot is a leather jacket similar to the interior, plus having that car to match!speaking of rear ends, those bumper cut outs with the 442 trumpets is 1 of many cool touches that make it slick.that chin spoiler looks like a snow plow though, lol! 360 h.p. huh?lmao! what did the N.H.R.A. rate it at on the track? I'm glad to hear she's driven plenty, cuz just looking at them drives me nuts! I need to feel that rumbling under my seat, shifter in hand, wind in my hair and give me a nice lonely country road, with a full tank,of course. leaves you feeling like a kid again, grinning ear to ear! just rug it!!!▪☆☆☆▪

Beautiful car! I, got my '70BUICK GS in '76. Pops gave it to me for graduation. I,must admit, I was disappointed, I wanted a Trans Am. but, he felt that I would kill myself so, that's when the GS,came to be. well, I loaded up my 4 pals in it. It had a STAGE 1,4SPEED, a/c, 3.42:1 LIMITED SLIP. I can tell you I NEVER MISS THE TRANS-AM. Changed the fan to fiberglass, octane booster, & Performance Radials. of course the sound system too. That Buick never left me on the side of the road. MISS IT STILL TODAY. WHEN BETTER CARS WERE BUILT, BUICK BUILT THEM ☆☆☆☆

Now that is a bitchin ride. I always liked the Buicks. It started for me when my uncle had a 63 Riviera with the nail valve dual quad ride. The Stage 1 Buick's might not have been the fastest of all muscle cars.....but they were one of the faster ones and probably the nicest overall muscle car. Torque monsters that were very fast and also very comfortable to drive and ride in. Always really liked the more upscale muscle cars like the Buick GS/GSX, Oldsmobile 442, and Mercury Cougar and Cyclone Spoiler. I'm a Mopar guy but GM cars probably had the best overall build quality in those days. Ford and Chrysler kinda had spotty build quality as far as body panel fit, rattling windows, and stuff like that....but Mopar built the best high performance drivelines in my opinion and that's ultimately what a muscle car is all about
