1971 Amoco Commercial - Joe Sedelmaier Created- No Lead Gasoline - BP in the USA

6 жыл бұрынThis is a very earl Sedelmaier TV Commercial for Amoco. Amoco was the first company that I can recall in the USA that sold Lead Free gasoline. It was back as far as 1967. By 1971 most gasoline brands offered a lead free gas as many new automobiles required to due to emission equipment. BP which owns the Amoco Brand just opened up a dozen new Amoco Stations in the New York area. They are reviving the name. Even though Amoco hasn't been used in years as a brand name, it seems to have strong brand recognition with people.

I went there this weekend. Amaco's been relaunched by BP in the USA, there are dozens of Amaco stations now, several here in Virginia where I live.

Amoco served the East and West Coasts, and the South, and Standard served the Mid-West and the Rocky Mountain areas.

You are indeed correct about Amoco being the first company to sell unleaded gas in the US. I believe they may have even sold it several decades before 1967, perhaps even the '30s. The one thing you should change, however, is the title of the video. At the time this commercial was made, BP had absolutely nothing to do with Amoco. They did not merge until '98.

The BP is for "clicks", I'm not suggesting that BP had anything to do with Amaco in 1971, just referencing now that it's BP in the USA, but since I've posted this, BP did relaunch the Amaco Brand in the USA.
