This color promotional film is about the new full time four wheel drive Chevy trucks for 1975. This film, like others in made that year for Chevy vehicles, emphasizes the vehicle's economy and value, as well as its practical design. Copyright 1974.
Opening: 1975 Chevy Four Wheel Drive truck drives through water and on sand. Title: 1975 Chevy Four Wheel Drive Value (:06-:27). A four wheel drive pickup truck drives. Chevy's full time four wheel drive truck drives down a rocky road. Pickup truck drives through water past a pickup that's stuck in the water. Axel for the truck. Shift lever moves (:28-2:09). A four wheel drive pickup truck visits a farm. A four wheel drive pickup drives with hay in the back. Two men sit in the cab of a four wheel drive pickup truck. V8 engines are shown as are L6 engines. Engine specs are provided. A four wheel drive pickup truck drives on land and in some high water. Brakes, rear shock absorbers (2:10-4:16). Underneath a pickup truck. A four wheel drive Chevy truck, the Chevy Blazer drives over rocky terrain. Five people exit. The amount of space in the Blazer is detailed. 313,000 miles on my 2009 LTZ and I wouldn’t think of owning another . Chevy is American.

I really like the look of these but my personal favorite looking trucks of all time are the OBS 88-99 GMT400 trucks. Square with rounded off corners. Classic yet modern. Really a classic timeless design, wouldn't look too far or of place if we had never seen them before and were introduced today. But I do love these trucks, especially the upper level ones with all the cool 2 tone paint schemes. All the engine options they had in the early 70s was so awesome, you could really build any type of truck you wanted to fit your needs as long it was a regular cab ;) the crew cabs were around but rare and reserved mainly for fleet 3/4 tons and 1 ton duallys.

I got a brand new 1976 Chevy Blazer full time 4X4, 400 cubic engine when I was 16 years old in Montana..I paid $6400....I earned the money hooking logs and bumping knots on a logging crew.. It was the best 4X4 I have ever had, I miss that vehicle and the Montana I grew up in...

My dad installed the wiring harnesses in these trucks in Flint Michigan at the truck and bus plant in 1975, the year I was born. Just think, these exact trucks had a small part in buying my first Pampers. 👍

The best Chevrolet truck commercial I ever saw was in the 70's where a 4x4 was pulling several trailers of loaded logs...when the pull was started you could see the front end lift just a bit!!

That NP203 was a horse of a transfer case, but it suffered from chain stretch and sprocket wear. The chains would get loose enough to skip. They were brutal on front axle components also. 4 low fulltime would have been awesome for moving trailers around without the driveline bind of part time 4wd. I remember a many a magazine ads back in the 80's and 90's for part time conversion kits, for Chevy, Ford, and dodge fulltime units. I love these old videos though. Old iron rocks!

This is one of the reasons Land Rover with the 110 and 90 models in the 80s went with permanent 4x4 with a centre diff with lockable diff. The thing the cheapskates should have added was axle difflocks. Because good driving skill and terrain reading can only get you so far.

I had a 74 K5. Np 203-205 Transfer cases were great but a lot of wear and tear on it. I had to get mine rebuilt in 87.

I just aquired a 75 Chevy fulltime four wheel drive it has fourty seven thousand miles but the body is gone are uncle bought it new got it two years ago three fifty four hundred turbo old wood holler 👍

"There is no difference in fuel economy" it says on the screen but the man, that just swigged some gravel, said between continuos four wheel drive systems and conventional four wheel drive systems. That means it uses the same amount of fuel as if it were in four low the whole time! This was two years after the gas shortage so in the minds of people, they were still concerned but companies were still making gas guzzlers because they didn't care. They would just make the tanks on cars up to twenty gallons. The world economies switched their financial backing from gold to oil and the rest, as they say, is history. These old pep rally commercials, they probably had at dealers, are great. Nothing like hearing someone reassure you after you decided to spend a lot of money.

rust killed these good trucks in NYS bye 1980 most were ruined. Such beautiful paint and trim simple reliable. I got 400,000 out of my 77 c30 utility 350 4spd decent on fuel 15-18 mpg empty.

I had one of these 75 models in 3/4 ton form with full tm.4wd 14 bolt rearend and Dana 44 front end with 4;10 gear ratio Got 6-7 mpg. Put a part time conversion in the np 203, and lock, unlock hubs and could average 10-11mpg. And 13 plus on hwy.Full time was nice but, too much gas cost for me! Old Jeep Qaudra Trac system was as bad if not worse!

Once upon a time four wheel drive was an expensive option that would only be added to a truck if used off road. Now it’s a must have for every new car purchase.

True full-time 4WD. With a real center differential. Only seen today in the 4runner Limited, Lexus GX460/Landcruiser Prado, Toyota Landcruiser/Lexus LX and the Mercedes G-Wagon

I have one of the rare full time 4WD Tahoes with 4 Lo option (2005 Tahoe LT with Autoride suspension). It is amazing in the snow. It’s the Borg Warner 4482. It has full time 4WD (60:40 split) and the 4 Lo button that allows the center diff to lock it to 50:50 torque split. But it has no 2WD option. Sometimes I wish I had the standard transfer case. But, it’s a very unique setup for sure. It’s a similar transfer case to the Borg Warner in the Hummers (BW4484) but mine lacks the 4 Hi (locked center diff) option and the Super Low option some Hummers have (3 speed transfer case).

Ok, I will take one of each! I had a chance to buy a 74 at an estate sale that was in good condition, but with gas prices I decided to pass. Not that my 250K Ford is any better w/ mpg, but it is a little more refined and runs like a champ! I also test drove an 86 Bronco with a manual which would have been another fun project!

Loved those K5 blazers. Big mistake Chevy made by reintroducing the blazer as nothing more than a crossover. They should imitate Ford’s lead when they brought out the bronco...

My dad bought a new ‘74. By ‘78 the body was gone. My first vehicle was a mint 4 year-old ‘76 with 29k miles. Within 2 years my cab corners were gone and my box floor was rotted through. 😂😂😂

These were the days before the zinc bath treatment. My parents '73 Chevy Malibu wagon was rusty within 6 months of moving to east coast Florida 3 blocks from the ocean. I mean rust holes you could throw a cat through!

I did a lot of work on the cars and trucks of the 60's and 70's and the one 4 wheel drive that took the most work was this one with the full time 4 wheel drive. it tore up parts for no reason the axles were cheap and only used open diffs it's how they got around not needing to shift out of 4 wheel drive by only driving the left front and the right rear wheels. every one I knew who owned one had me put in spools in the back and a standard transfer case in the trucks just to save the front axle and drive shafts from wearing out all the time. they had a great engine and transmission but absolutely shit axles with a straight thru 2 speed case for the front wheels. you could also get as an option the front lock outs but the drive shafts still turned unless you put in a different transfer case .

The 4 low unlocked centre option is cool. Not many vehicles have it these days. I can see it being handy on a boat ramp where you have a hard surface and need the centre unlocked for easy steering, but you also want the torque of the low transfer gear.

Engines using leaded gas and no cats in 75?? I didn't even know they could get away with that....maybe because they were talking 3/4 ton+ trucks so they were exempt from some of the emissions regulations? Either way I'm sure they had to be unleaded/catalytic converter motors in CA. If anyone knows any more info on this let me know, thanks in advance.

unleaded fuel wasnt banned until 96, but was largely phased out prior to that date. and yes california had specific emissions models for their market. The owners manual i have for the 1976 year of chevrolet pickups expressly specifies to use unleaded fuel and against the use of leaded.
