@Illya Kuryakin In Agassi's book he talks about it, I believe it was her hamstring and it got worse at her next tournament which is when she decided to retire from tennis....I totally agree with its just haters.

She's always getting let down by her male doubles partners... in the Olympics, mid 00s Wimbledon, Gimelstob. I wish she'd find the right fit.

Gimelstob played poorly and over played at times but in all fairness Venus was too static at the net and he was trying to over-compensate. Even if you never poach you've got to make your opponents think you can or will to keep them honest. And to be fair to Venus the chemistry was not there between her Gimelstob like it is when she's partnered with her sister. Watch the match again and see how many times both Mac and Graf moved across the net when they had the opportunity and how many times Venus poached, the difference is quite evident.

Nah- ya just seein what ya want to see. He would dip on em if he didnt want to be there. You can always find some grass to play on with or without a partner! Tennis is cool like that. Allows individuals who are awesome grab a partner and topspin serve a few aces to laugh their way on through!!

John has spoken about this a number of times,he said he said to Steffi that he thought they could win and that he really wanted to win the mixed championship, and wanted to make sure that she wouldn't pull out as had done other times and according to John she assured him she wouldn't- He was very angry when she did,and went off about her in the locker room in front of Agassi who then revealed to John that they were dating.

@@jmnny85 i never cared for mac while he played, because of his tantrums. but i am in 100% agreement with him here. when you promise to do something, you do it. no excuses. graf should not have entered the mixed, if she wasnt able to give it her all. that is juvenile behavior. sorta reminds me of juveniles, when they promise to do something, until something better comes along. graf showed her tremendous immaturity AND lack of integrity

@@jimmybrice6360 of course Mac was totally in the right. He asked her for assurance she would not pull out - he knew she did things like that. At that age, he gets in shape, prepares, and plays great - is very close to another slam title.... and she screwed him over.

It was pretty unfair towards her partner. If you don't plan on pulling through, don't enter the competition. I mean, it's not that her reaching the singles final came as a surprise or anything.

@@fundhund62What came as a surprise was A) that she would have had to play her mixed doubles semi late in the evening on the day before her singles final (due to a scrambled tournament schedule because of many rain days) and B) that she developed a thigh injury during the second tournament week (she played the final heavily bandaged). McEnroe would have done the same. This old dude should have been thankful that the Tennis Queen allowed him to stand in the spotlight again after such a long time.

@Max E there was a reason that graf did not come to the net in singles play. she wasnt very good. in no way does she compare to mcenroe, as a doubles player. i am guessing your comment about showering is that lots of female tennis players are lesbian. i dont know how that fits into this discussion ? playing tennis doubles does not require any off-court activity. i dont recall much about sabatini, but she may have been good at the net. so i dont know if she was a weak doubles player or not ? at her prime, navratilova was the best female doubles player that i have seen.
