Can you put a turbo on my 95 Ranger 2.3 Automatic? ;) I'm in SE Michigan, love my truck just wish it was faster. I understand it's just a 4 cylinder, and it is my daily driver/work truck I do love the gas mileage, so I'm not looking into injectors, fuel cells ... I'm just wanting to add a turbo to it if that's possible without all the other mods and cutting any holes in my fenders as the truck is very clean.

Well unfortunately you would need to do injectors if you were adding a turbo. Also you would need some type of engine control module (ecu) to be able to change how the engine works with the new turbo. It can definitely be done but its not cheap or quick. I appreciate you watching!

Do you have a roundabout idea how much for turbo kit, Injectors, and ECU plus labor a place would charge? $3,000 Trust me I am way past the point of worrying whether the truck is worth putting that type of money into it. Maybe cheaper just putting a 302 in it?

I would say it would depend on if its a carburetor 302 or fuel injected. Fuel injected would still need same as doing a turbo but you would also have to change transmission and possibly drive shaft (etc) i believe adding just a turbo would be "cheaper" but less hp than a carb or efi 302. As far as cost i have no idea.. the whole reason i decided to try it myself. I have very little knowledge about all of this and im learning as i go. Best advice i could give you is join all the turbo 2.3 groups on social media. There is a ton of support and there are some grat ppl out there with tons of knowledge. Im always down to help answer any questions i can. And depending on which way you go you definitely would be without your daily for a bit. Good shop could add a turbo and injectors in a week or so id guess. It took me 3 months to do my truck from start to finish doing it myself during covid. I hope you join the turbo 2.3 world but it is an expensive hobby.. could ls swap it for cheaper but who wants to do that.. lol

Thank you for the advice but I finally did figure out what I had done. But I decided to swap out the 5 speed for a C4 with a trans brake. Stay tuned it will be going on a engine dyno and back in the truck in the next couple months. Thank you for watching!!

I can help I raced in mini modified 2.3 pinto engine 30 years cheap 50 plus hp singalong plug head shaved 80 thousand 2 barrel Motorcraft 350 cmf factory 88 header or a long tub2 header 88 sv9 mustang cam or 89 roller cam put a dime under each lifimters match port intake and head bigger valves if can afford the machine shop work are rod bolts kieth black floating pistons that should get you close to 200 to hp plus put (dam forget Nam) anyway imit goes in-between oil pan eng8ne valve plsprings if have the 480 for a stage 2 solid lif5 cam be best but hydrolic good to now your at 250 hp and truck should fly

@@Hoppysjunkyardrally any time by the way chevy 202 valves the biggest can 7se but they are permitted leith for small journalists cams with big lift you can turn stock b9ttom end up to 6400 safely put are rod bolt 7800 1980 turbo pistons are forge flat top a windage tra along will give you 20 to 25 hp floating wrist pins give you 25 hp alone have crank cut to low side get flywheel from a 1.9 tempo cut down to 11 pounds stock pinto or rangers flywheel weights 22 pounds on average any questions ask

@@nickfay2359 we turned 120 to 130 mph on back stretch in 2 gear half mile qnd 3/8 mile 5rack super late models turned fastest 132 sl9west 110 and we had 8 inch wide tired they ran 13 inch wide I got a couple 13 wide tires rim 1 time at practice no super late m9del could touch me

@Flatr8_official yup that's exactly what I'm doin. Lol that's how I'm going to learn how to tune. My boss will map it on the dyno and teach me how. While it may seem rowdy it really wasn't very impressive. Butt dyno says maybe 200hp.. thats why I have went with a stage 3 ported Bo port head and his 2.5 cam.. also adding a C4 with a trans brake different header and a new slightly bigger turbo. It's a 87 mustang 2.3 non turbo. No forged internals. It was rebuilt and I bought it off marketplace. It had been rebuilt for about 5 year's before I got it and it had never been started. Possibly buying rods and pistons before it gets mapped on the engine dyno. Thanks for watching I appreciate it
