None of this is okay, Jess. You are right to advocate for yourself. And of course any symptom is going to trigger you because now you’re experiencing hyper vigilance. You are seen, you are supported by us, and know that you are in our prayers. Love to you, friend. Wish I could give you a big hug.

This is UNACCEPTABLE mam. Im 67, i was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 in nov of 2022, then cervical cancer stage 4 in Dec. Of 2022. I had external and internal radiation for the most aggressive stage 4 cervical cancer. Im still to have my breast surgery soon and its now 2024. The cervical pain was excruciating. Im so blessed to have had the most amazing team of specialist in the Nashville, TN area. YOU MUST be your own best advocate! Speak up, say something! This is your life honey. Ill be praying for you.

Hi Jessica!! I am going to add my 2 cents to that. My husband had been waiting since July of 2023 to be seen by a doctor at a very well known cancer hospital here in Texas, we have good insurance ,and they've had taken testing and appointments very slow. So far 8 months has passed and he is going to start radiation later this month. We drive 71/2 hrs one way, and we are not the only ones. We met a very nice man and drives all the way from Arkansas, he's like us , in the same boat, we pay for gasoline, hotels, food and the excessive parking fees. And I agree, this health system is a joke.

system isn't broken at all. I know multiple people who got cancer diagnoses and were seen immediately. Her experience is the exception, not the rule. The healthcare system in the US is leaps and bounds better than socialist countries, just ask someone in England or Canada. Mind you, I know people born and raised in both places, and they say how frustrating socialized medicine is and how long it takes to get referrals and see specialist. We're talking years in some cases, unless you go private and pay out of pocket, which defeats the whole purpose of paying a sh*t ton of taxes into the system.

Such a strong woman! This a so frustrating for me to watch this and I’m 56 yr old father of two adult children. This system is a sham, the last designed incident 3 1/2 years ago has purged many professional staff in many important areas causing a devastating void In especially the medical field. The people still in this system unfortunately were complicit or remain due to duress. My prayers are for all humanity, especially the children, I hope the evil of this world face the consequences for their malice actions.🙏

One of the best things we did when dealing with cancer in my family was getting a referral to MD Anderson in Houston. It took significant financial resources for all the traveling for appointments but the scheduling of appointments and tests was very on the ball. Do not stop advocating for yourself! You are doing great.

I no longer see a local gastroenterologist, and instead travel almost five hours to see my team at Duke. This is after multiple trips to local gastros, trips to Mayo, Johns Hopkins, USC, etc. I finally have a team at Duke who now see me every three months, or sooner if I need them. Advocating for yourself is so important. Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself, what you need. Sending you a bunch of healing hugs! 🙏

I'm sorry you're having these problems. My husband has been a stage 4 cancer patient (in remission) with the Mayo Clinic-Rochester for the past 2 1/2 years. We switched to them after a frustrating experience with a cancer center in our community. While Mayo is a 2 hour drive for us, it's worth it to receive stellar care and customer service. With his initial appointment, he was seen by an oncologist within a week of our call and this was in the thick of COVID. We drove down and had two days of appointments with consultations, scans and bloodwork. From there, they had a plan. The place is so efficient and they've never disappointed us.

You will 1000000% get better treatment in this terrible, piss poor, unjust system we call "healthcare" with your husband, take him to whatever you can, have him advocate for you if you are unable to--my mother is unquestionably still alive, fighting stage 4 very aggressive lymphoma because of my father and his relentless presence and willingness to leverage his positional power as a man in a world that runs on split second decisions, stereotypes and assumptions. Sending love, strength and power from my mama heart to yours.

I SO UNDERSTAND that fear when diagnosed with cancer. I would be working and just stop and say “I have cancer” and I felt so betrayed by my body. It was doing something on its own and nothing I could do would stop it. I ended up having a full hysterectomy and then had to wait for a follow up meeting with the doctor (a couple weeks later) to let me know the stage I had and that I didn’t need chemo or radiation. Thank you God but it is so very difficult, scary and lonely when this word “CANCER” is referring to yourself. My prayers are with you for healing, strength and a great outcome🙏🏻.

How does the US see itself as the leading nation of the 'free world' and yet every other major player on the western and Southern and Eastern continents offers free healthcare. Its absolutely insane to me the mad architecture of bureaucracy that's been built up in the states all to make it SEEM rational that treatment should be complex, hard fought and expensive. It's inexcusable.

So many people slip through the cracks, and thanks to the ridiculously out of control prices for healthcare, people without insurance cant even get the appropriate testing unless they can lay down a Grand or more first. I had a similar thing happen to me. I found a lump in my breast in January of 2023. Called my GP right away. He made an appt for me in 4 days. Took a month to get an ultra sound and mammogram. When the results came back it was cancer. The day I saw my GP he said call this surgeon to make an appt. So I did. I had to wait 6 weeks to see the surgeon. When I got there he asked me 3 times why i was there. I told him 3 times I had a cancerous tumor in my breast. Finally he said, but I don't do breasts.I lost it. I was crying and asked him if he got the results from my tests and he said yes. I told him so you knew why I was coming and I feel like I have a ticking time bomb inside of me and you let me wait 6 weeks and I am back to square one. He told me it's in God's Hands.

So sorry you were treated this way. I'd switch doctors, quick if at all possible. I have a general practitioner at Mayo Clinic and just to see her it is a 4 month wait. (and she canceled 3 of my appts last year for her personal reasons). For that reason, I use a local GP in my small town for immediate care. I can get in to see him next day or at least within the week. If I can't get in quick enough to see him, I go to a care center/urgent care where I just have to pay my co-pay....anything to stay out of the ER. The only reason I keep the GP at Mayo is because if something big is wrong, I can use Mayo Clinic hospital and have priority since one of their doctors is my GP.

My sister was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer 9 years ago, and is still alive. Her oncologist has told her that there is a new drug trial now that just requires taking a pill, and it is another miracle drug. Since immunotherapy came on the scene a few years back, they have made great strides and "stage 4" cancers are not as scary as they used to be. Praying that you will be able to get excellent treatment and hear the "cure" word. The oncologists are incredibly busy now, and I am constantly hearing of people I know being diagnosed with various cancers, but hang in there and once you are in they system, it will be much easier.

I have never put a comment in for anybody's video until now. What Jessica is going through and experiencing is no lie. Unfortunately, I had the same exact experience in 2018 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I also experienced every one of her complaints regarding the medical system. I was so disenchanted. And shocked. And hurt. I ended up giving up on the medical system and turned down chemo and radiation and all the other drugs they wanted to give me because I did not feel that they had my best interest at heart. The reason I have chosen to put this comment in is to put people on notice so that they are not blindsided if this happens to them. When one has been given a cancer diagnosis, it makes one feel extremely vulnerable. And then, to make matters worse, you do have to be your own advocate because they don't care about you. You are just a number in their system. They say they care, but their actions show that they don't. My heart goes out to you, Jessica. Stay strong. Continue to be your own advocate. Continue to educate yourself in regards to cancer. There are many things you can do to help boost your immune system and help your body fight your cancer. I highly recommend Jane McClellan's book on "How to starve cancer without starving yourself." I wish you all the best in your journey, and I hope that you do find peace.

I wish that every person from the U.S could receive the medical care other countries get for free. You’re doing so great, praying for breakthrough and full restoration!

The “free” healthcare that other countries get is anything but free. You pay for it with taxes and if you think 2 months is a long time to wait to see a doctor then how about over 8 months to get an MRI? How about waiting over 4hrs for an ambulance after you call them? Healthcare throughout the world is broken, it’s not just the U.S. It’s all about the money these days and it’s really a disgrace.

@@Fishflorida59 Americans have healthcare - many have good healthcare. About 90% of us have it through our employer. Of the 10% that don’t, half are young people who do not even want to get it through their employer - they would rather use money on fun things & take their chances. The 5% that simply cannot afford even an Obama policy - have other issues.

@@Fishflorida59 They pay for it in taxes, but it's still MUCH less individually than what our individual financial burden is for healthcare in the US. There's no competition. The reason wait times are much lower in the US is because so many Americans simply don't receive healthcare because they can't afford it. Less people receiving care = lower wait times. Waiting 8 months for an MRI compared to not getting an MRI at all - those are the two extremes we're talking about here, and I know which extreme I prefer. Americans don't want to call ambulances because they're going to get a $500 bill in the mail...and God forbid you have to be air-lifted by helicopter. That's tens of THOUSANDS. So, yes, our ambulances come quickly, because a lot of us are afraid to call them and end up in debt. I work in healthcare, and during the start of the pandemic, I witnessed countless Covid patients arriving in Ubers to our ER (endangering those drivers' lives and increasing the spread of the virus) because they couldn't afford the ambulance bill that would come later if they called. Not exactly something to be proud of. Granted, the problems that exist in these countries with universal healthcare ARE major problems, but the average person in those countries has better access to healthcare than the average person in the US, and that's accounting for wait times. Our healthcare is of a higher quality, and we produce the majority of advancements in medicine, but how much good does it do for Americans when we can just barely access these things?

No one likes to acknowledge the crappy care they get for "free." I was so glad to come back to the USA and not be subject to the NHS anymore. Being a patient sucks everywhere, but a tiny bit less in the US@@Fishflorida59

I am so hurt. I am hurting with you. But you have NO idea how much of the encouragement you have been for me. I have followed you since Spain. When I was going through the worst postpartum anxiety and depression I felt encourage by your videos and your testimony with postpartum depression. Now I feel heard because even though I have no cancer I am struggling with hard thing physically , mentally and financially. As in order to be well physically we need resources and I don’t have much of that right now as a stay at home mom. Honestly feel unfair that this is happening to you, but at the same time, we can look at Job in the Bible and think WOW that was devastating… I think God allow those who he loves go through hard seasons because we never grow in life as much as when we go through something very traumatic and painful. I trust the good Lord will heal you and you will use this testimony to bring others to him! I also pray for strength to while walking in the valley. You are amazing! And you are not alone

I am a 3 time survivor. I encourage you to get a new oncologist. They should NOT take so long, and you need better care! Good for you for driving over there. I feel for you. This is wrong.
