Guys, if you are seeing this for the second time, I had to re-upload it to my channel because I received a notice for using copyrighted background music on the first video and I am trying to keep every video free of that.
This is how I fixed the issues with my Honda CBR600RR that I previously identified on another video. I replaced all four ignition coils and spark plugs on my Honda CBR600RR and that fixed all of the idling, surging, missing, about to die out issues I was getting on low RPMs. I was also noticing surging and lack of power on higher RPMs prior to the change.
Thanks for watching and please comment on what you think.

Thanks I’m I have a 2003 CBR 600 RR. I’m ok with fixing my bike. I love my bike. I bot it 3 years ago 13000 miles on it. At first I was having the work done on the bike Buy a mechanic. Cost me lots of money. Most of the work I can do myself if I watch videos like this. My bike looks new now. Runs great. I put about 12,000 miles on it per year. Now I try to do all the work on my bike myself. Unless I have a serious issue. I changed the fairings from black to gold and black. New chain and sprocket‘s made it much quicker. I love the quickness. I don’t need the top and speed. My bike ride lines at 170 MPR. I am replacing many parts from the stock color to shiny gold. I love my bike and I really appreciate you guys showing me how to work on it. Thank you very much

This problem was common than I thought. I went with this route and got lucky. The reason I say that is because I have friends with the 03-04s that had to also keep troubleshooting afterwards since the problem came back. The other fixes are the stator, rectifier, fuel filter, and fuel pump. Some just dealt with it by bumping up the idle. I hope yours are the coils or plugs like mine. It is worth changing them anyway especially if you haven’t done it before or it has been a long time since. Be patient brother, I love this bike too much to give up on it too!

@@justinoutwest8894 My recommendation is to start with the basics if you haven’t already. Ground, battery health, and charging systems. One of my bikes had this issue before and it was a failed rectifier. Well, it was failing and having issues maintaining voltage at high rpm. Bench check it and replace with OEM or Denso only. I had bad luck with other manufacturers when it comes to electronics.

according to honda service manual you don't have to disconnect radiator hoses, only remove bolts slide it over and drop it down to give some space.

Just curious as to why you didn't use the original OEM sparkplug socket to do this since it's made to do this easier... I'm sure it would be easier if you have magnetic sparkplug sockets so you're not fighting the boot to come off... Also, what are you using to talk while you're riding and recording?
@StylishGreaseMonkey

Gosh this was a few years back and I’ve sold the bike since. Loved this bike but I had to leave it behind. I continue to ride my Harley though. I think I used the Purple Panda Lav mic to a canon T7i. I no longer use that setup. I now use the ZV1 from Sony with a Rode Mic Go II which is is super awesome. I use the purple panda on my helmet connected to a Go Pro.

I have a question, my spark plugs aparently blew out and made a total mess. My question is, because the threads where the spark plugs fit have burnt out, could I change the part of where the spark plugs go into (also don't know what that part is called, head gasket or something) or is it better to change the whole engine or take my mechanic's advice and send it to get rethreaded? sorry if my question is confusing, I'm so new in the motorcycle world.
@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey 2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t seen that happened yet (spark plug blow out). But if that’s really what happened and you have the 03-04 then I would recommend you to pull out the valve cover and see if you can extract the rest of the spark plugs (threaded part) from the heads without pulling out the heads. If the blowout is isolated to the spark plugs only and it didn’t destroy anything else around it then you should be able to put the valve cover back in with a new gasket and the rest back in. If the blow out destroyed other things like the heads then you’re going to have to consider a full rebuild or a motor change. I’m only making assessments based on the information you’ve provided and it seems you already have a mechanic helping you. These motors are high rev machines and I often took mine close to the red line so I am surprised that you’ve had a blow out. There has to be something that caused it so ask what your mechanic think it is before you put it back together.

PLEASE HELP Hey, I have a 2006 Cbr600rr and its been misfiring randomly. It mostly does it when the bike is hot, but sometimes when its cold and generally in low RPM. I changed the spark plugs, coils, did a fluid wash, gas stabilizer, oil change, checked the connections and related electrical stuff. When I put the new coils in, I made sure that the strips were all the way in. Any idea what could be causing it to still misfire?
@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey 2 жыл бұрын
I find that the rectifier eventually goes bad on these things and causes misfires and bad idle. The injectors wants a healthy and steady voltage/amps. Make sure your battery is healthy/new. I know you’ve already changed the things I may be thinking next. I learned to do these things from cheap to expensive vice the other way around. Good luck on troubleshooting it and let me know once it goes back to normal. Don’t forget to make sure your connections/ground is tight and clean.

Why are you removing the radiator? That's a waste of coolant. You should remove the tank cover and air box to do this job and you need to blow out your plug holes before removing the plugs so you don't drop debris into the cylinder.

@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, oh gosh this was awhile back. The spark plugs I purchased have an additional tip that I had to unscrew to expose the actual tip of the plugs. This allowed the coil to fit and be snug. Hope this helps!

@@StylishGreaseMonkey so with the stock coils whats the approach just push in as hard as i can?
@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey 2 жыл бұрын
@@ImChrisKardiac I had to look up what I ordered to remember what I did. I ordered the Autolite XS4302 spark plugs and I removed the larger tip by unscrewing them and installing a smaller tip (I think I used the one I took off). I would recommend to take a spark plug off and mock it to the coils to make sure it is sliding correctly inside the coils. I had to use some form of leverage to push them in to the coil pockets because it is hard to do it by hand/fingers. I actually broke one of the coils because I made the mistake of putting pressure (with what I was using as leverage) on the plastic plug housing. I think I found some painters stick laying around and used that as leverage. Just make sure you use the top of the coil not the plastic plug housing. Also, don’t go crazy with it, if it’s in it’s in…

can you provide a list of tools and what you use on the socket extension?
@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey 2 жыл бұрын
Aside from the normal set of tools (screwdrivers, pliers, ratchets), I used a 3/8 imch spark plug socket. This has a rubber boot inside to grab the spark plugs when you pull them out. The extensions are a combination of half inch, one and a one and a half. You’ll have to work a combination and different angles to get it in and out. The spark plugs are gapped pretty close to the required.080-.090 but I always check so you might want to have one of those also. You can get them from O’Reilly’s or other auto parts store (or Amazon). Hope this helps you. Be patient with it.

What where your problems before you changed I have 04 600rr it starts up as 6 seconds pass the idle drops low then it shuts off... any clue for me would be helpful?
@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey 3 жыл бұрын
My issues were that the bike would idle erratic and sometimes die. This was a helpful thing to do but the problem came back. The real fix was when I changed the regular/rectifier and a brand new battery. You have to be patient because it could be anything really. Here’s what I usually do for issues like yours and mine: - check your battery (if it’s older than a year I recommend a change). An old battery can cause issues with the fuel regulators. - make sure all your ground are solid including your battery post - check all fuses - check for wires frayed or cut - check all your vacuum lines I usually do all of the above first before I start to troubleshoot on the ignition system, fuel system, and sensors. If what I’m getting from your post that your bike actually starts and tries to idle then I would recommend (after you do the above) to check your rectifier/regulator. This is cheap so if you haven’t replaced it before, I would. Make sure the battery is good (not just holding a charge good but “good”). I would go to your fuel system check as well (fuel pump maybe). My bike is all original and untouched. I have no other persons to work on her and no one has hacked into the wires or parts. This could add to the difficulties of trouble shooting. Good luck, be patient.
