When I was little we had a neighbor who reviewed cars. He would come home in Ferraris and corvettes and all sorts of fancy stuff. But one day he came home in one of these. My dad asked him how he likes it, and he responds by ripping a block and a half long burnout and says: "it's got a small traction problem"

Come to think of it, I could imagine this setting another record for production vehicles - the fastest burnout. The highest speed at which a vehicle can spin the tires on dry pavement. This probably has the highest ratio of horsepower to weight on the drive wheels of any production vehicle, and I'm sure doesn't have particularly exotic high traction tires. And we all know that spoiler don't do shit, it's only there to say "You aren't supposed to use this 'truck' as a truck."

It sounded great, and I'll tell ya.... that thing could move. I would be getting on the highway and people would automatically pull out to pass me as soon as we got on the highway (because, don't want to be stuck behind the RV... fair enough) but then they'd fall back behind me, because I could accelerate faster than them and get up to cruise barely after clearing the merge. Of course, it also got 10MPG. Didn't matter if I was driving fast, driving slow, fully loaded, pulling a trailer.... always 10mpg.

This is the same formula Chevy used to create the 454SS, but with actual effort involved. Not just the V10 out of the 2500, but the Viper V10. An actual 6-speed manual. Actual suspension work to make it handle. Ford had to slap a blower on its 5.4 and still couldn't get within hailing distance of this thing. Total beast!

Sure, but Ford never had to try hard to outsell Dodge n Chevy, so that's the reason why Ford always uses smaller engines vs those other 2.. Example 4.6L 2v vs 5.7L n the 5.0L vs the 6.2 n 6.4L.. Low compression engines vs higher compression engines.. Now the Coyote uses higher compression but back then Ford didn't.. i think sales trend caused these changes, these 3 car makers get together n decide how they plan on moving forward.. Probly why they got rid of the other brands, less to negotiate..

The V10 from the Viper is from the 2500. It's a changed 5.9 with 2 more cylinders and sports car tuning. And the Lightning destroys this thing 0 to 100. And the 454 SS is muscle. This is sport.

But what was pretty cool was the picture of a burnout it did, it left behind a ball of rubber 11 inches in diameter.

I test drove a new Tundra back in 07. About 100 mph is what it would do. We gobbled so much fuel during the test drive, we had to go to the gas station to put a couple gallons in. Gas was much cheaper then though.

Only Mr. Regular and the review of the SRT0 truck can make me think of the guys I knew who bought the V-10 in 1 ton 4X4 duelly versions for farming/construction. (They would tow a stock trailer or construction equipment like a Kenworth) and Socratic logic at the same time. Good Monday morning!

I can vouch for the limiter on the older 6.2 SVT Raptor as mine was removed when tuned many many moons ago. I've had it up to 120 in mid-west Mexico, but pushing it faster brings concerns for the integrity of the aftermarket 37" K02 tires and the driveshaft's balance. Potential failures I don't care to examine.

This would be another reason the record might not ever be beat, similar to the Hayabusa's record. Early '2000s Dodge (and even Dodge now) are the sort that would rather have you sign waivers and include a meeting with an estate lawyer in the purchase price than put any sort of limiter on their over-the-top madness. Other companies like Ford, Tesla, and so on would try to hold a more "sane" reputation. The limiters could be disabled and go faster than this one, but - like post-Hayabusa motorcycles - once that's done it's not "production" but "modified," thus leaving the "production" crown untouched.

Keep in mind, trucks are limited from the factory based on the tires they are fitted with, that 98 mph governor on your 15 silverado goes away with the click of a button, and wouldn't you know it, 140 on the highway, going uphill
@jblyon2
@jblyon2 Жыл бұрын
Yup, the same is true for most cars sold today. My car is limited to 130MPH...the speed rating on the factory tires. Trucks just tend to come with tires with relatively low speed ratings so the electronic limiter is much more restrictive.

A buddy of mine's sister had a boyfriend back in like 2008 that had one of these monstrosities. I had a '78 El Camino at the time with a heads/cam/11:1 pistons L33 aluminum 5.3 and a T56 with a 3.89:1 9" and a bunch of suspension stuff and other goodies. We raced, and I won, but barely. We let each other drive each other's rigs and raced again, and I can't imagine how it was that close, it was downright dangerous, that thing was all over the place until the top of third. Just a crazy machine, super fun.

@@Rescinded_Rainman The V8 Supercar ace cranked out a maximum speed of 277.16km/h in the stock-standard Maloo, but his entry in the Guiness World Record books is a two-way average to eliminate any wind assistance. Still, it was easily better than the previous mark of 248.78km/h set by a Dodge Ram SR-T with an 8.3-litre V10 motor in 2004. Chris Sheedy from Guiness World Record was present to monitor and certify the record attempt, which was for the Fastest Production Pick- up.

Which is the radial powered trainer biplane used in ww2, i can say that your description is accurate. J3's are smooth and its a wonderful plane. But steermans are smoother, rawer if thats even a word, more powerful, and viscerally engaging. Its a different animal and i love it.
