It's funny because I'm a car enthusiast and would LOVE to own that Camry! The reliability and potential is umatched in those early 2000 Toyotas. 20k miles on a 2004 is definitely catching lightening on a bottle. Your friend could sell that car for like 10 grand and people would pay for it.

@@janehyden1652 I wouldn't let my '99 Camry with 336k miles on it go for less then 4k, runs and drives too good. I would have a hard time replacing it with something as good for under 8k lol... I have only owned it since 2000! So I know how it's been maintained ;-)

@Ms Elite I have been fortunate with a 2000 sienna I have. It hasn't had the paint problem. I have seen some camrys with paint peeling from this generation. I wonder if it is specific to the 02-06 models. The cars themselves have been trouble free from anyone with which I have talked.

Myself, approaching retirement, can appreciate a car like this. Need a cheap commuter from Iowa to Florida where we have purchased a vacation/retirement home. Not really a fan of all the touchscreen stuff, but a car for these journeys will require AC, CC, a decent radio and creature comforts, reasonably priced tires, good mpg and reliability. I have been eyeing Camrys lately for this reason but still need my 4x4 Tacoma for my work commute in the northern Iowa winter. Actually considering a 4 cylinder engine due to easy maintenance but haven't driven any yet. As long as it can maintain 70-75 on the interstate it'll work.

Do maintenance and you will not spend much anytime soon 2003 330k three parts failed all after 250k knock sensor, pun hole in radiator, alternator. 330,000 miles less than 1000 in parts and labor. Now wear items tires belts hoses oil and filters brakes etc. Every thing works still all electrical switches motors sun roof all 100% great.

I had a misfire about a month ago, but that was because the valve cover gasket had never been replaced and oil was covering the ignition coil. I replaced both the gasket and spark plugs in about an hour and a half and it’s been running like new ever since
