For future reference, inch pounds can be devided by 12 to find the ft/lb conversion. So your Tensioner pulley would be 21 ft/lb

Yes, thank you for bringing that up. in/lb would be more precise and the scale on my specific torque wrench.

Great Job best video I have seen on alternator belt tension and idler pulley. I too keep old parts incase of an emergency. I found no other video for the tension pulley

Best video I saw on alternator replacement. The belt diagram was really helpful. Other videos I saw did not show an automatic belt tensioner which confused me alot .

Thanks! Looks easy enough. Getting an odd squeal at startup but its very intermittent & mostly in cold temperatures. Always goes away after a few minutes. 02' TJ, 125k miles

Thanks for watching. Try changing the belt first. Clean all the pulleys with degreaser too. You can test the pulleys for play/noise with the belt off as well.

Thanks man! Great instructions. Replacing alternator and stereo as its old and charging in the 15-16 volt range which I'm thinking the regulator in the alternator. I decided to replace the whole thing for a brand new one and the video helped a lot. Thanks!!

Pulley's won't have anything to do with temp. Nothing at all. The torques sound fine for the hdwr. Without a TQ. wrench always go snugly tight then a 1/4 to 1/3 turn. Try your hand at it with your TQ wrenches. Things that can effect cooling. Thermostat cheap and easy to do, Have you tried pulling over when its hot and shutting it off to check the lockup of the fan clutch? That would rule out the clutch. Water pump shouldn't be leaking out the bottom, it means the seal is shot the impellers don't really wear out. Maybe disconnect the return coolant line from the heater with the heater on. Water should jet out especially as you rev the engine. Another test for the fan clutch. Start it up cold with 550 cord holding the fan from turning and watch to see if it locks up as the engine warms up. Good video, well put together and well edited, wish I knew how and had a better camera. Keep on turning wrenches for yourself. Now go call dodge and see what they charge for that job in man hours. You saved a lot of money.

Thanks for the advice. You are right it was definitely the fan clutch. And maybe a bit to do with the water pump too. As I find out in the fan clutch WP video. Thanks for watching.

The last thing I forgot was a blockage in a passage. Yep fan clutch all the way and maybe some water pump. Now you don't have to worry about that for a while and peace of mind is priceless. You can test the thermostat on the stove top in a pot of water with a thermometer that has the range. Check some of the web pages for your engine on FaceBook. Ask the question what is the best stat to run. Should be a 180 I am thinking. Also some 6 cyl. jeep engines need the coolant system burped. I am a RamCharger guy but, I am working on a jeep and this was helpful. I am going to do the tensioner and belt later. The pulley had no more ball bearings in it. Inner race fell off in my hand. Neat stuff. Jeep on.

Question, when I turn my AC off I start to get a squeal all the time. But it’s very quiet though and only when the engines hot. When I turn the AC on it’s only when I rev it up. I’ve replaced fan clutch, water pump, and probably next both the idles and tension arm. Once that’s done I’m praying it’s not the throw out bearing.
@Waveshank
@Waveshank Жыл бұрын
It could also be part of the compressor assembly like the clutch in the compressor pulley. The clutch could be expanding when hot. Idk Does the center part stop completely when ac it off? If it was the TOB it would mostly likely alway make a sound no matter what was on or off. The other pulleys are relatively cheap and easy to do and should be replaced eventually anyways.
