@@curtisnstacey Just downloaded a manual from ebay. Over 2300 pages but no reference to engine overhaul 😂. Do you remember who you bought it from or does your manual also have the 12.7 version. If so do you want to sell me a copy. Thanks. Love the videos Scratch that. It would appear that the search should be Detroit 60 series not Freightliner Columbia 😂

@@eby6114 LOL. yea Detroit 60 series. the manual does not state anything about the overhaul. you have to go in order. for example: go to the manual and it'll tell you how to change pistons. from there it'll say remove head and refer to chapter blah blah blah, then remove injectors refer to chapter blah blah. thats how i done it. i spend countless hours every night studying each section i had to do in order. DONT SKIP ANYTHING. and use the items it says use, example: folks use motor oil on the head bolts when installing, the book says use the detroit crap that goes on the bolts it was like $80 for that little can. little things like that. i left no stone unturned. if you need help i'll do the best i can. just ask questions and i'll get to it.

i'll have to look again, but i think my truck has 1.3 as well. lol. mine still ran excellent just the water in the oil. if you havent seen part 1 you should see all the coolant i drained out of the oil pan on video. ouch!

as far as the egr delete ive been thnking of that "ugly fix" since its just a plug n play type thing

@@curtisnstacey don't do that, it kinda messes the fuel, ie makes it run a little lean, it'll work but not the best fix. I pulled all EGR stuff off, replaced exhaust manifold, added Borg Warner turbo, and sent my ECM to Leon....truck is now an absolute beast, added close to .5 mpg too.

I been using the ugly fix for years. I never knew it makes it run lean. I hooked the dealer engine scanner up and then I hooked the factory oil in also. And the only thing that changed was the the braometric sensor pressure. It Went from 4 to 18 with the ugly fox plugged in and the turbo was open to 100% availability. Normally the turbo is set at 80 percent availability. That’s why it coughs like it does. The 14 liter is choking. With the ugly fix it opens up the turbo and closes the egr flap. Works great if you ask me. But do you have exact info as to how it makes it run lean? Does it change the mapping ? Does it change some setting in the ecm other then what I saw when I hooked the dealer computer up??? Maybe I missed something ??

i was told if your one tooth out it wont run right.... i was told that several times before i started this. im not a mechanic. maybe your right. i would have been to afraid to try it

@@curtisnstacey id be afraid to try it also. After I tore my western Star apart, I found block damage and had to take it to dealer to make sure it gets done right. I had them set it to factory timing. No warranty otherwise.

You gotta be extra careful when buying trucks with over 1 million miles. I did the same thing as your trying to do and it bit me in the ass. The truck ran great but coolant was very slowly getting into the oil and that's something you can't spot just by looking or driving it. The only sure way is to drop the oil pan and pressurize the coolant system and see if any coolant comes down from the bottom end. Just be careful it happened to me and i had to do this because i couldn't afford a shop rebuild and the seller lied to me. If you can get some sort of warranty, at least 90 days maybe you'll be ok. IF you can do that. Again, just be careful buddy, there are some sneaky human beings out there.

You don't need a book, you're gonna learn way more just watching these kind of videos on KZfaq, thank God there a whole bunch of them cause when it comes to owning your own truck you better learn how to fix it, at least minor repairs
