Agree this is just general/routine maintenance. Big Bills are when you choose to spend couple of thousand £ on your beloved RR to keep it on the road. Reliability is in the eyes of the beholder. Also agree I cannot imagine owning another make/model of vehicle. Keep up the good work and very informative videos, regards.

Interesting update, Really Nice looking Range Rover and with your know how, at least you don’t have to pay JLR dealer prices, and it’s just general maintenance in the great scheme of things.

I agree. Lovely cars and worth every penny. I also have the 4.4 TDV8 . My aux belt went and took half the engine with it haha. £1500 luckily covered by warranty. Other than that, an alternator, inlet manifold and a set of brake pipes. In just over 2 years not bad. Very complex and expensive cars, but really nothing else that comes close.

Useful update. Parts prices were not too bad considering.

I think you got off lightly there pal, can you imagine the bill if you took it to a Land Rover dealership? Ker-ching! It's absolutely shocking that a part on a premium car can basically snap in two like that, 40K on the clock is breaking in milage as far as I'm concerned. Kudos to you though for keeping a smile on your face, you don't buy one of those old boats if you are not prepared for an eye watering bill or two on the way. Comes with the territory. Big expensive car, big expensive bills!

Same advice for the 3.6 tdv8, when my alternator failed, I checked the idler and tensioner pulley’s, all had some play ranging from bad to slight... anything over 70k miles and the idlers, tensioner and belts should be replaced as a service item before a failure. 👍

Preventative maintenance is the way to go . Had mine over a year and I love my RR 4.4 had full oil changes done engine, gearbox, diffs you will feel the difference once there done. Had power steering fluid change, coolant change, brake fluid and full set of brakes my idea is I want to enjoy driving. Things to look out for low coolant warning with no sign of water loss Suspect float inside expansion tank it absorbs water over time and fails just change the tank. Exhaust temperature sensor fault it comes up as EGR but its not this is a pain of a job how I know just done it .
@oldskoolmotors28023 жыл бұрын
You heard anything about turbo oil return pipe needing replacing? For a Modified item
@Mac_F875 ай бұрын
Next job on my list is doing the left exhaust temperature sensor. Doesn’t seem too bad, tight space for sure. I’ll be dousing it in Kroil rust remover for a week before had.

I enjoyed that. Totally agree on "why this at 40k miles?". Is it the engineer's original specs at fault or just the suppliers?. Your comments on owning LRs and RRs in the past, at your age, have me thinking I chose the wrong career!. I'm a retired school teacher, double your age. At your age I was living in Lancs, 2 kids, and teaching secondary school in Liverpool. I could just about pay the mortgage and commuted in a beat up Escort, Capri, Metro, etc. Am I envious?. Well, I would have loved a TD V8 but that time has gone. I digress. Thank you for the advice and illustrations. I have a 4x4 (not Landrover) and noted your comments about worn steering bushes etc. So I'll buy a set .

Thank you for this update. I have a 2010 HSE LUX 5.0. Bought it with 50k miles so your pulley story has me thinking to check mine. This is my first rover so while it leaves me anxious, I do love it. I just fitted 2” lift kit (Johnson rods) and 32” WildPeaks all terrain tires. It is awesome. I paid $165 for the lift rods and installed in about 30 minutes. There are 2.5” lift rods by Proud Rhino and these run $68. I’m shorter so I went w 2” haha

It’s not a Rover, its a Range Rover. Rover is a now defunct British manufacturer. If you need to shorten it, call it a Rangie which at least differentiates it from a Rover.

Great Video ! ….. I am so tempted to buy the same as you have 4.4 TDi, I am 52 & disabled, need the comfort & could do with the extra space too for my mobility scooter, Plus the fact i have always wanted a RR. I have a Audi SQ5 atm which is a 3.0 TDi & a fantastic drive. What do think mate ?

@muzinkosi6683 жыл бұрын
Nice video mate, I’m also an LR fan & owner, it’s probably not a good idea to change only one set of tires, you risk damaging your drivetrain due to different tire diameter on new and old tires, your car might also have an overactive traction system as it will detect tire slipping as front and rear will move at different rotation speed. So it might be advisable to change all 4 at the same time. Just a thought.......
@Fosgen3 жыл бұрын
You're perdectly right. On 4x4 you must replace all four tyres at once. While having full spare, surprise, you need to replace 5 tyres at once. I do it for years on my 4x4. This is the way.
@johnisherwood81953 жыл бұрын
careful changing only two tyres. It will put a strain on the drivetrain due to differing rolling radius. if you want a good recommendation of tyre for light off road use check out Cooper
@johnisherwood81953 жыл бұрын
oh - and check out web for Coopers as you can spread terms at 4x4tyres and get them fitted locally to you for about £20 each
@Mac_F875 ай бұрын
It’s not a permanent 4WD system to no need to do 4 tyres at a time.

They do cost a lot in maintenance. (old or new) I owned a RR classic for 6 years and then bought a P38 that I have now owned for 9 years. Not cheap, but I have no intention of parting with it.

I’ve just got a bluetooth gizmo that fits on my iPod lead so now my iphone 11 streams music perfectly and wirelessly. I’ve got a 2011 TDV8 vogue se it’s done 60k miles. Mines on Pirelli scorpions. There are two types of scorpions summer and all season and maybe even a winter. Mine are the summer. The all season have LR on the sidewall. I’ve been tempted to get Cooper all terrain tyres but I never go off road ! These cars cost about £16k to £21k with a low mileage so there are other options: only the S class 350d offers similar comfort and refinement for the same price. I struggled to like a SUV as much. I think out of the Germans the Merc ML is most comfortable whereas the X5 and Cayenne are firmer and more sporty. I’ve never liked the Q7. I think the L322 has a nice image now. It’s classy and understated and classic. The other big SUVS especially the newer more expensive L405 and the newer sport are more in your face and a bit gangland ! 😆The X5 is a bit underworld too!😆 Gangsters wouldn’t be seen in an older shape L322 which is why I like them! The lead and voltage converter was doing my head in on my iphone as it wouldn’t stretch enough anywhere and there is nowhere to put it but now I’ve got the bkuetooth gizmo it’s great being able to tuck it away and be able to leave the phone in my pocket or properly wedged into the cup holder. I’m having a nightmare with squeaky brakes! Any ideas?
@marksoutherton88883 жыл бұрын
I agree totaly with what you say about the newer Land Rovers looking Ganster like. They will soon switch back to the box shape when they realise that the only people that like them are 17 year old wanna be Gansters but haven't got enough pocket money in their piggy banks to buy one.
@stephenroot10133 жыл бұрын
Can I enquire - what was the Bluetooth gizmo you refer to? I have the same L322 and agree about the short cable. Would like to use your alternative. Thanks

Fair opinion , but maintained properly there are no problems . You have to do it . Then funnily enough there are no real problems to be had . Plus buying right in the first place is key to success. In fact it's necessary to coin a phrase !
