Literrally just died on me while driving. Drove about 5 miles then noticed it started to get to the floor on the first pump but held pressure if I stopped and pumped. Had me thinking I lost a pad or something to justify the bleeding you described to a T. Thank you for this video, helped me out 2yrs after you posted. Now I can get a replacement and be less concerned about a crazy expensive purchase.

I wish I found this sooner. Been to at least six different shops and out over 2k with issue still happening. I can’t imagine what a shop would cost for this repair. Dealership(s) were zero help.
@stevestv38522 жыл бұрын
Glad to be of some help, it's a little tricky to do the repair, but it can be done and you're right about repair shop cost. Hope you can get it done. Brakes work perfect after this repair is done.

Thanks, the pump is hard to source. Found on eBay, worked well for about 3-4 year, now pedal back down to floor. All else new. ABS activates just fine but not a situation for short legs. Great video and hidden gem of information for finding the real pedal fade problem.

Excellent video... now to find out where I can get just the pump!
@stevestv3852 Жыл бұрын
I found it on Ebay and it was Guaranteed. Look for salvage yards.
@markruth77864 ай бұрын
This was very helpful. I swapped out the pump today and it seems to be working better now. Having said that: how did you figure this out while not knowing that you'd need to bleed the brakes after performing a repair that obviously would require the brake system to be bled???

I'd say it is in the ABS pump, it's not releasing the fluid. Thanks for watching.

With the abs pump and module removed on the push start model. steering lock has engaged is this normal when abs unit is removed from the vehicle? Thanks fellas

In all honesty, I'm not sure, Anyone out there know about Push button start symptom?

What is a good source for the pump? All I see is the dealer or the used market.
@stevestv3852 Жыл бұрын
I was unable at the time to find a new one , unless from the dealer. So, I ordered a used one on good ol" Ebay. I was lucky to find a good dealer who guarrenteed it to operate properly with a 30 day warrantee. It has been over a year since I installed the used pump and it has been just fine ( Knock wood) If you want I'll look up the auto recycling yard I bought it from. Good luck on your repair.

I have a 2016 with a pedal with a similar problem, it hasn't been the end of the world but i just changed my breaks, rotors, and rear calipers and it seems way more noticeable now😂 Do you think even though this is advice for earlier years do you think this might work for me too?
@stevestv385213 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching, and yes your vehicle would fall into the same category. If your pedal is doing the same thing, then this should solve it.

Dear god, can’t believe I didn’t think of this. Is it in the same location for a 2011 fiesta?
@stevestv3852 Жыл бұрын
Yes I do believe it is, Good luck and thank you for tuning in.

I kinda have the opposite problem. When I tried flushing my brake fluid, I couldn't get any fluid to come out. Does the ABS module have anything to do with it. I did have the battery disconnected.

found needed the car to be running to bleed properly.

Does the abs still works even if one of the solenoids is stuck open?
@stevestv3852 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you will still have ABS and brakes, but the peddle will be soft and slip some before the brakes take hold. A bit of a problem if you need to "Jack" on your brakes..... still operable but not the safest.
@SamVieiraGuitar Жыл бұрын
@@stevestv3852 I also have hill assist and traction control working fine... I replaced the abs module with a used one.. and the symptoms are the same and nothing has changed... is it possible that I picked up another bad abs module? Thanks for quick reply.
@stevestv3852 Жыл бұрын
@@SamVieiraGuitar If you have changed the ABS module, then that is not what needed replacement ..... you need to change the ABS pump, which is connected to the module. you will see this explained in beginning of video. also if it was the pump you changed then you need to bleed brakes once you have installed the replacement pump and full pedal will return. if not and the pump was used then chances are 50/50 it could be bad also.

@@stevestv3852 sorry need explaining,I replaced the whole abs unit, and yes, did a lot of bleeding with the diagnostic tool and nothing changed. Thanks man, like you said im ready to set my car on fire hahaha

I have a similar problem. I've just bled the brakes and it stops the car but feels sloppy. the pedal continues to travel when fully compressed.
