Having done a clutch change on a Toyota Corolla on the ground, I can empathise with your situation.The weight of them transmissions is no joke and having to turn them at an angle,while installing them, needs Houdini.Doing a repeat is not too bad, but a first time can be very challenging.Doing a great job and have no doubt you'll be a winner.

I had four repairs on this transmission in four years. Failed into neutral two of those times. I got the "new" clutch even. These cars should be removed from the road. But, I'm very curious to watch you dig in.

Our ford focus had the same problem, but our warranty covered it. I guess its a common problem with the transmission, that oil gets past a seal. great video.

However I’m in the process of putting the transmission back in I have it up in there with bell housing bolts finger tight I can’t figure out how to align the the studs back to the flywheel? I painted the triangle bolt hole if you would please tell me how to align the studs into the flywheel it’s the same transmission set up 2016 Fiesta Se Automatic

Glad i got the 5 speed manual focus its a great car zero problems 40k on it so far. It is a 2016 much better than the 2003 focus i had got 200k on that one.

Lots of problems with Ford dual clutch transmissions, 2014 Focus se clutch pack replaced twice already and is having the issue again, also have a 2012 and transmission is slipping.

yup i fixed the the problem after 4 clutches iny my 2014 focus under warranty i took the pos to the VW dealer they paid off the pos and gave me 500$ on a 2019 jetta

First of all let me make it clear that I am not (or at least didn't use to be) a Ford hater. When I was was younger I drove, hot rodded and raced small block Fords. 260,289,289 Hypo and a variety of 302's. All great solid cars that were simple to maintain and repair. Unfortunately the newer Furds are often unreliable and the dealers either can not or will not repair them. They have no problem taking your money and if the car doesn't make it home from the shop they will happily tow it back to the shop and do a few hundred perhaps a thousand dollars worth of work that doesn't solve the problem. They typically claim that the repairs are not covered by warranty. Lemon laws are a joke. When you try to make a claim they simply say that something different was wrong each time. The Furd Powersh*t transmission is a perfect example of this. Unless you are a masochistic aficionado be very careful before wasting your money on a Ford.

In Australia consumer laws require Ford to cover it under warranty for at least 7 years because it's a know concern.

It's the tuning. There's a guy named Tom, his company is Focus power. He cures shudder for a lot of people. He's tuned hundreds of them and has even taken several of these apart. I have his tune, and I'm at 81k on my 2016. Either Ford insists it needs to shift like a torque converter, or this whole thing was planned obsolescence. There's no way they don't know. If a tune can solve the issue, they knew all along. The Renault Clio Sport has the same transmission and isn't plaged with these issues.

Because I rotated the flywheel counter-clockwise (like from the top to the back), because it was the easy way to turn using an angled mini pry bar between the bell housing and the teeth on the flywheel/flexplate. Damn

I have a 2016 Fiesta with 24k miles on it currently, I drive a lot LOL. Anyway, how many miles did this Fiesta have before the clutches were replaced? So far my car has been flawless, but my previous 2015 Ford Focus was a nightmare with the DCT.

Even though P0700 code is triggered, Ford dealership claimed that the TCM warranty doesn't cover P287B. In other words, no correlation. Agree or disagree?

TBH if the transmission is a manual with the electronic selector/actuator, there's no point in draining the liquid (unless it got external cooler).

Most seal/clutch failures are due to overheating because the Driver using the brake to creep in traffic like an automatic with a torque converter or the TCM fails. When shudder first starts run a few full throttle back to back runs on a highway ramp from 1st gear to clean off normal clutch powder wear.

Gettag working with ford could have done better. Nothing wrong with the wet clutch powershift.

There's actually class action law suit against ford right now for this transmission.

We bought our 2014 BMax in 2017. I was told the clutch had been replaced once. It has now been replaced again under the used car 12 month warranty. They tried the software upgrade but it made no difference. When it works it is fine. Just fingers crossed it doesn't go again.

You cannot polish a turd. The powershit is not fixable. There are multiple class action lawsuits underway in the US, and Australia. Slipping, shuddering, and fault code failure are common and dangerous.

Is this car even worth fixing? I would imagine the repair cost would exceed the value of this car.

I have a Ford fiesta 2011 and Its not working anymore because the dashboard says transmission malfunction. I don’t much about cars but a year ago I brought my car to Ford dealer in chula vista where I bought the car. They fix the trottle thats what they told me. 6 months later the car is stalling when you are driving. I spend almost a 1k for that. I’m not sure if I want to spend another money for this car. It’s expensive and they are not giving you any warranty for the repair they did.

Wow, that tear down really sucked arse. Remind me never to buy a car with a Dual Clutch PDK, DSG, DPS, or any other transmission with three letters... Or front wheel drive.

your doing way to much un necessary work. pull the axles without taking the struts loose the axles will come out. then drop the oil pan to get to the clutch bolts. then remove the rest of the bolts. bingo bango . then remove the clutch pack . clean then dust out and you would be surprised you fixed the problem.

You can tame that dual clutch for people that drive the Fiesta & Focus in D all the time. Its called letting your trany computer lear powershifting. Take that girl on a country back road & let that trany learn powershifting by comming to a dead stop & stomping on the accelerator 5x untill you reach 75 mph.....do this 5x & that bs shutter might go away.....but remember your driving a manual control by a computer.....yes when you put it in S it still has to learn you so dont be a liberal about it
