For the people that are saying they miss this Gracie… Remember, this was when everyone started to expect perfection out of her. It baffles me that she can still make a mistake this performance wasn’t perfect and still win when she looks incredibly shocked. If you look closely, She spends an awful lot of time with her hands covered over her ears. At the time, I thought why is she blocking all this out. But the more I look back at it and it her expression she seems almost scared of being that perfect even though she has a smile on her face. Let’s not forget that this year is the year that her international debut was at the Olympics and not only did she skate clean but she helped the US when a team bronze metal. If this is the debut everyone wanted then they got it. Kudos to Gracie for knowing when to step out and step back. It is so great to see her genuinely love every single second that she’s out there now. Although I know she’d probably like an Olympic spot or any other type of metals as a Cab to her come back, I hope people remember that she already has accomplished so much and just allow her to enjoy wherever this journey takes her. Gracie I am so proud of you regardless of the outcome for coming back and competing for only you and taking us your audience along for your ride. Best of luck this year!

as someone with an eating distorder, it's so bittersweet to watch this performance. i find myself coming back to it over and over again because she looks so happy and proud of herself. but now knowing that she was suffering from an eating disorder the whole time - it's heartbreaking. all of the time and effort spent practicing, while probably being constantly hounded by eating disorder thoughts... i can't even imagine. it makes me so happy that she has returned to skating - it doesn't matter if she ever wins another medal or title again, i think her pure strength just to come back at all is admirable. she'll always be my favorite of all time.

I think it's because she pays attention to her fans. She loves them and they love her for loving them. She goes out of her way to collect the gifts they throw where others will ignore them. She's also very emotive, and people love to see big smiles and pumped up celebrations. It's refreshing to see how these professional athletes are just as human as us. :)

The young skaters like Bradie, Alyssa, and Mariah, Karen Chen can learn from her... courage is doing the BEST you can at something you love, no matter what Medal you earn, or don’t earn.... Gracie has one of the most satisfying air positions and rotation speed to her jumps I've ever seen. Some of the ladies now are great but no one's jumps scratch the itch on my brain like her's did lol. A lot of the ladies now, especially the Russian girls, always look out of control and sloppy in the air. It's even more obvious now that I've watched some of Gracie's old programs again.

But even here, her first lutz was tilted in the air and her second lutz was landed a bit awkwardly. Most of the other jumps had very little height. The jump that did have really good height was the triple flip which she fell out of. I just watched her 2021 Cranberry Long program, and while this program is overall greatly superior, in that program her first triple lutz was better than anything here, and her 2nd double axel was better than here. In this program she did have a very nice fluidity, and very good energy at the end. And as the comentator said, she emoted and even smiled.

So few ladies will acheive this level of technique and artistry. Having Frank Carroll as her coach obviously helped to instill this kind of talent in her.
