2019 Kramer Baretta Special..Wait..What? We Are Confused?

This is a little bit of an enigma. We received our 2019 Kramer Baretta Special in the mail the other day and we aren't sure what's going on. All reports say this guitar should be a maple body with maple neck. But this 2019 Kramer Baretta Special has a Mahogany body and Pau Ferro Neck. We double checked and the serial number is most certainly from 2019s so we don't know what happened. Is ours a one off guitar? Is the model not actually made with Maple? Did they just use left over wood for some of the guitars? Comment what you think happened.
Regardless, this is our demo of the New 2019 Kramer Baretta Special and we compare it to the Kramer Baretta Vintage.

This same guy already made me buy my Original white Baretta special, now I’m gonna get the blue one as a backup. I use these live with the tremolo and everything! Just WD40 the nut and saddles and these things can dive just as good as Floyd’s, only downside is no pulling it back. Absolutely love Kramer. The 80’s been coming back with BC Rich, Kramer, Ibanez Genesis series, Dean, all the great brands

I recently picked up a Baretta Special through FB Marketplace, it also has that strange Pau Ferro/Rosewood hybrid neck. I bought it for 150 which is a steal considering the owner before the guy I bought it from replaced the pickup with a Seymour Duncan Nazgul, as well as replacing the bridge with a pretty slick Wilkinson bridge. The best guitar you can get for the price. It’s crazy they aren’t more sought after.

Had one in the '80s. Just bought the "vintage white" - just like the one I had in the '80s. Change out the hardware to black. LOVE it!

I modded my black Baretta Special recently. Installed an SD TB4, a tone knob, a mini-toggle to split the coil and another mini-toggle kill switch(copper shielding in cavity also). Now I have plenty of tonal options. Also installed Fender USA stock tuners because the original tuners I thought sucked! Also, replaced the cheap bridge with a black, GFS bridge with brass block.

Ever since we lost the guitar legend EVH / there has been a serious run on all things Baretta or Parts to build a Kramer type guitar / I tried to buy one each of these and before everything sold out again I was able get a Ruby Red $ 699 Baretta I don’t know what difference is between a 1984 I won in a battle of the bands back in the day and this but other than strings / this new kramer has been awesome straight out of the box / I prefer over Evh Wolfgang I own

I purchased the Barretta Special. I was sorry I bought it at first. It will not stay in tune. I changed to locking tuners and at that I was happy. Extra $65 bucks and it is ok. Tremolo is also cheap. Just bolted on a Wilkinson vintage and it fit all but one screw hole. easy fix. Used a dowel and glue then re drilled the last hole. Volume pod is also lacking. Ordered one that is also a kill switch. Still waiting to receive. I am having fun. It will play well but in comparison of my EVH Wolfgang s\Special there is no comparison no matter what you do. Still I had to have 2 guitars. One is just not enough.

Trem can do diving fine if you lub the nut and bridge and add locking tuners. And the nut may need to be spread a little on the G. After that, it's in tune always for me with heavy trem diving.

I bought the Baretta Special and setup the tremolo slightly floating and greased up the nut and saddles with a lubricant/graphite mix and I can do all the divebombs I want and still keep it in tune. But just to verify, this is an incredible guitar no matter what, but especially at the price point?? It's a no brainer. A total winner.

Great vid showing the Kramer brand. I'm holding off buying a Kramer, cause I want to see the prices on the 2019 import BC Richs. I have my eye on a Stealth because Epiphone/Kramer won't reissue the 85 (pointy) Voyager.

Yeah, I would like these one too. Terrorize Aljon Go and other Kramer reps via facebook, youtube, twitter etc. - if they see the demand, they may actually release them? caleb prodtoins someone bought this specific guitar we have a few in our store that are maple neck. We can’t guarantee you’ll get maple anywhere Else.

I’ve done this before, if you upgrade the first one to match the upper end one your total cost will be greater and if you aren’t an expert you may damage and ruin your guitar. Companies are not stupid instruments are priced right.

That’s what I’ve been saying, unless you’re a luthier or you are experienced working on guitars, you’re gonna have a hard time doing everything right. You gotta replace the term with a Floyd rose 1000 series, then install the Seymour Duncan jbs, then install the locking not so thing thing will stay in tune. So if you wanted it to have the same gear it would cost you almost as much or maybe more if you had someone else do it. Not to mention Jackson soloist Slx dx is the same price or more than the Kramer baretta vintage, however it comes with a Floyd rose special and comes with a licensed by seymour Duncan pickup. People don’t realize what A good deal the Kramer is for 6-700 bucks.

I preordered one, in the Purple. Interesting fact also that when I did preorder, Purple was *nowhere* to be found, it was saying "Ruby Red" Pau Ferro board? Will have to see about that....was looking forward to the Maple

I got a purple one, it has a maple board. It has a nice grain pattern to it. Overall this guitar is super solid, I definitely recommend it.

Yes my local guitar store finally got the Purple one in, Maple fretboard, so light, but so beefy in tone! We all couldnt believe the bang for your buck. I just pre-ordered another one in Purple, should be here Halloween, beginning of November. Stays in tune so well

I fixed the trem on it by realigning the springs and it now stays in tune during dive bombs and stuff

I just got a Baretta Special and it’s a really nice guitar. It sounds KILLER thrust my Marshall Code 100, BUT...this thing will not stay in tune to save my life! I have tightened everything down, put graphite in the nut slots, etc. The G string is the worst. I have only had it for 3 days, so we will see if it changes, but I am going to need to do something with it. I can’t gig or even rehearse with a guitar that will not stay in tune, and this is with no tremolo use.

try getting some roller saddles for the bridge, the schaller vintage trem has those, I have good experience with it. Usually a well cut nut, lubricated, and few windings on the posts do the trick for me.

The fretboard wood changes depending on the colour you order. I think only the red & purple are maple, the rest are rosewood/pau ferro.

When guitar makers specify the neck material, they are not necessarily describing the fingerboard. Most mahogany and maple necks typically have either a rosewood or maple fingerboard. Looks like you have a pau ferro fingerboard on a maple or mahogany neck on that blue Baretta. I have owned and still own a bunch of Kramers, all American and Japanese made instruments spanning 1983-1991. Most of the early Baretta bodies were made out of maple, which sustains really well but which is very heavy and can be dead sounding and too bright. Kramer also used alder and some models like the Nightswan are made out of mahogany, which in my opinion is one of the best sounding tone woods. That blue one you got there sounds great. Those are amazing for the price.

Iam goona buy the 179.00 and pop a floyd on it and a lock nut . that wayci can get the vintage styke berreta for under 600.bucks .

These are great for metal. Solid Mahogany Body tuners are not bad if you don't use the tremelo. Take out the pickup unless you wanna sound just like Van Halen . I put in a SD Black Winter. This thing will rip your face off now. Sustain for days and the harmonics are killer.

It’s all mechanics and physics, a 6 screw bridge can do anything a 2 point bridge can do. They will feel different, 2 points on 2 posts is smoother.

I like $179 way better than $699, but, to get this guitar , you want the whole experience, ie- whammy versus traditional strat bridge.

Well the fretboard on your 2019..is dark..the maple neck is lighter color..I heard the darker model was $179, and the maple were or are $199.

I own 3 Kramer focus 211s lefties but Iam thinking on giving them up,,great sounding guitars but I called Gibson/Kramer and NO 2019 lefty models to be released,,,what a way to treat the left handed fan base,,,,Iam going to endorse a new company in the future

Made in Indonesia too, and these were supposed to be made in China. I'm guessing they're using up old stock with 2019 colours first before switching over.

There's a huge difference . Cone on people...if there wasn't ...why would there be a 500 difference...The maple body on the vintage has awesome sustain. ..better electronics better bridge ..it's a BETTER instrument. ..if u want an ibanez gio buy the 180..if you want a decent guitar ...spend the money

honestly i think they are the exact same guitar . just one has a floyd the other does not. so basicl the baretta specialis the vintage just wih outt the floyd cheaper to program the C&C onw program but with difrent options i have a special and the way the vintage bridgge saddles sit well thwey are just about the right hight as were a top mounted floyd would sit. and iam gonna mod the hell out of it thinkin Theater of pain Kramer.

Because Kramer is going for the nostalgic crowd and the single humbucker was very popular back in the day. You can always put a push-pull pot in and coil tap it.

The Baretta Vintage guitars are maple body. If you saw the whole video you can see in the advertisement for these Baretta Special guitars they were supposed to be Maple for 2019. Go to one minute and 45 seconds in and right under the purple "Baretta Special" wording Kramer clearly states "maple body and neck" - Eric

Where's the original Floyd? Bookmatched maple body? Another pos trying to sap the name of a great guitar. You can have my '84 with a Jackson custom shop neck, compound radius, quartersawn neck and fretboard etc. for $300,000. Don't think it's worth it? Buy an old Les Paul for the same money and stick it in your bank vault, 'cause if you actually play it my Baretta will make it sound like a comparative toy. The "new" Barettas? The guitar industry is just trying to survive based on old names. Dark times indeed. Kids, go for quality not moniker. And, be good. Mom Knows best.
