Soap making video for 2020 KZfaq Soap Collaboration - Wonderful Water (Lily Pond) hosed by Renee Cormalis from Soaps for Love. This design requires a portrayal of water, 2 distinct layers with different techniques.
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
I am honoured to be invited into the soap collaboration again and I am excited for what everyone else will make for this theme! For this collaboration, I wanted to do a design that of a pond with leaves and lilies on top. I want to show how beautiful plants and life can thrive in wonderful waters of the pond!
The colourants I used in this video were:
White- Kaolin Clay
Yellow/Orange - Tumeric
Green - Spirulina + activated charcoal
Blue - Indigo + spirulina + activated charcoal
Brown - Cocoa Powder + Coffee grounds
Essential oil blend for leaves and lilies: Basil, Sweet funnel and Rosemary
Essential oil blend for the pond: Lemon, Lemongrass and Peppermint

I love how this soap turned out to be. Even though the flowers I created were not lily-like but the contrast between the flowers with the leaves and the pond water definitely help to portray our dependency on water!
