In this video, I will try to spend less than $20 to add a $12.99 super cheap auto bed leveling sensor, a $5.5 filament sensor, other free printable upgrades, and compile the latest Marlin 2.0.7.2 firmware for the Ender- Pro and try to make this printer work even better.

Another great video, tank you. The way you tackle such a complicated topic as compiling Marlin is fantastic. I have seen other videos on the topic, but would end up being confused after seeing them. But your video is easy to follow, and you explain what each change does. Fantastic work.

Great video, thanks. I am completely new to 3d printing, having just bought and Ender 5 Pro. I have been looking for a reasonable auto bed leveler for a month or so. I am now convinced to go your route and also add filament detection. Although I am comfortable with code and config files I would have struggled with the requirements for this. Your detailed and straightforward presentation of all the required process was amazing and I am now confident to go ahead and buy the hardware along with making the firmware changes, as long as I book mark your video. Many thanks.

If someone says your videos are good, he is not telling the truth. Your videos are actually fantastic. To the point, well thought through, accurate, and very well explained. You make compiling Marlin "idiot-proof". And even a bit entertaining because of the confidence you show. I would like to see some "before and after" prints and I want your thoughts on improving this printer even further. I know it is possible but I like the way you think and do. Thank you very much.

If your BLTouch is not working right and just sits there failing to home the Z axis, it may be because you have the new connector wiring harness. The instructions on Marlin in this video should only be used for BLTouch wiring done exactly as shown in the video. The new BLTouch connector connects to a different connector on the motherboard and that makes a huge difference. The line about the “Z min probe uses z min endstop pin” that is enabled here should not be enabled, instead the “use probe for z homing” should be enabled. See the video on the Ender 3 Pro Marlin extra features + filament sensor + 3D / BLTouch on this same channel. It is about one month after this video.

(I apologize in advance for my English) Excellent video! this worked for me, BUT! I have an Ender 5 (Regular, not Pro), but with a few upgrades, like the silent board with 4.2.7 fw, a capricorn tube, alluminum extruder, 3D Touch, among other things. I followed every single step in this video, but when I tried to print an object, the z-axis had a problem. The 3DTouch worked compensating the leveling of the bed while printing, but for some reason the z- axis did not step down while switching from one layer to another, this problem became a bad headache for me. So while repeating your video over and over again, I noticed that since I made some upgrades to my printer, I could say that i do not have the regular version anymore, but rather the Pro version. So I switched from the Ender 5 fw to the Ender 5 Pro fw, followed your steps one more time, upgrade the fw on my printer, made a printing test and it worked like a charm! the results were more than great, almost perfect :D. I'm sharing my experience with this video in case that there is someone that's having the same issue that i had, don´t give up and always relay on the community ;) Fantastic work Aurora Tech, thanks a lot for your outstanding tutorials. Greetings from Chile.

Error: BLTOUCH_SET_5V_MODE is not compatible with the Z_MIN_PIN. I tried the 2.0.7.2, but also the newest version of Marlin with its configurations but i could not fix this compiling error. I'm just wondering something ... Why did you connect to the z limit port? On that kind of board, you can use the 5 pin connector. I did it like that and works flawlessly. Z endsensor has to be disconnected too but there is no real reason to use that port.

Ya think it's normal that my Ender 5 Pro I got few days ago, shipped with a 1.1.5 mainboard?? That's 8 bit right? I couldn't even install the BLtouch with these instructions.. EDIT: ok I read online that it is still possible to receive older stock with 8 bit boards. That figures, as I got this on sale for 270€ (about 320 bucks) from Creality Europe shop, and nowhere there does it promise that the board is 32-bit. So I got that going for me, which is not nice. I guess I gotta invest extra to get a replacement board.. I suppose there are benefits for having 32 bit??

Sadly my Ender 5 Pro became completely useless although it was entirely and perfectly working upgraded to CR-Touch with RUNout sensor and Bugfixed Marlin 2.1.x version, when I decided to just remove the glass hotbed plate and replace it with the Twotrees magnetic plate. Re-Calibrating went perfectly and everything worked fine and an object was nicely printed. But after my Ender 5 Pro(blem) printer was switched off after the calibration first was stored and powered back on it behaved very erratic and the bedleveling didn't work anymore as expected because the Z-height was wrong. (Maybe because there apparently is no eeprom file on the SD card anymore after the new firmware was made and installed?). And when trying to adjust the Z-offset the nozzle crashed and also destroyed my brandnew 30 euros Twotrees plate. Nowhere is a correct answer given on how to solve this very annoying Ender 5 Pro problem. Which also started giving E1 heater reset problems while trying to print with PETG filament at 255 degrees Celsius. About 4 days ago before I had replaced the glass Creality plate everything worked without any worries and as a sunshine! Now I became so frustated after hours of trying to solve the issue that I had completely disassembled my useless Creality firmware unsupported Ender5 Pro(blem) printer that I had put everything back in its box. And when there is no clear solution to this problem, Creality never will be my 3D printer brand anymore! And I am very sure that many other frustrated Creality Ender 5 Pro buyers encountered the same issue that made them cursing Creality for their extremely bad and useless support!
@1science100
@1science100 Жыл бұрын
I finally solved the extremely difficult to find Z height bed level problems with my Ender 5 Pro! I noticed that bedleveling only worked when I put a thin about 0.3mm sheet of paper under the probe of my CR-Touch! But just raising the bed with about that height of 0.3mm never helped! But by loosening both screws that hold CR-touch and nozzle fan holder cap and repositioning the CR-touch as low as possible and thightening the screws afterwards completely solved this crazymaking problem! So I never knew but sadly it is possible to mount the CR-Touch a little bit too high after your Ender printer never behaves normal anymore after that!

@AuroraTech

If you can print only with retraction off, your nozzle or something inside the heated block is still clogged or the tip of your Bowden tube is melted inside the hotend. @AuroraTech
@AuroraTech 3 жыл бұрын
Can you move the Z-Axis up and down manually using the LCD menu? If you can ONLY move the bed down(away from the nozzle) but not up, you may need to adjust the endstop_inverting inside configuration.h, as the end stop is sending a false signal to the board so it assumes it's always triggered so it won't let you move closer to the nozzle. Search for Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_INVERTING, change the value to true or false to invert the current logic. Please try this first and see if it works.

Or you may download the firmware that I compiled in this video and see if this works on your printer, please adjust your Z-offset as mine was set to -1.5mm. auroratechchannel.com/download/EP08.zip (Use it at your own risk) My Ender-5 Pro is using a v4.2.2 motherboard. The manufacturer may change the hardware from time to time without notice, even you purchased the exact same printer, there is a chance that the hardware may not be the exact same, the firmware works fine with my printer, but I may not able to guarantee it also works with yours. You may also take a look of my configuration.h and configuration_adv.h: auroratechchannel.com/download/EP08-Config.zip Hope this information can help.

Are you using the same Creality v4.2.2 motherboard with TMC2208 stepper drivers? If the bed can only move away from the nozzle(down) but not up, that means the end stop is triggered all the time. You may also try: #define Z_MIN_PROBE_ENDSTOP_INVERTING false (or true) //#define MIN_SOFTWARE_ENDSTOPS (comment out) //#define MAX_SOFTWARE_ENDSTOPS (comment out) If this still not work, you can email you configuration.h and configuration_adv.h to auroratechchannel@gmail.com I will compile your firmware and upload to my Ender-5 Pro to test.

Hi, I have a Ender 5 Pro with Creality 4.2.2. 32 bit board. I have watched your video numerous times and it is very helpful however, after a successful build the file is created as a internet based .bin file and a non internet based .elf file. I have rebooted and tried several times on a clean slate with no success on uploading the firmware on the printer. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Let's try this: Download the official Creality firmware and try to upload, if it works, the problem is your bin file, if not, the problem may be the bootloader of the motherboard.

@@AuroraTech Thank you so much for your response. I have tried this over and over and it's not working. I am thinking the problem could be my computer is not recognizing the bin file. It keeps converting it to a notepad file but .bin? Is there a way to make a correction within the computer?

Actually, it's difficult to troubleshoot the machine if I have no physical access to it, in many cases, you also need some extra spare parts for testing.
