When I was in the hospital from a keto acidosis coma, they fed me oatmeal, mac and cheese, and of course, pudding. My blood sugars were over 1,000 when I went into a coma for 4 days and had to stay in the hospital for 10 days. I couldn't feel my legs, and I kept throwing up the food from my blood sugars being constantly high. They just told me to keep injecting insulin. Those 10 days got me into a deeper depression. What kept me going was reading the bible. It took me 6 years after my coma to find keto and fasting. I don't have to take rapid acting insulin anymore, and I can figure skate again (I was a professional figure skater). Thank you, Jesus!

Remember for the future that the hospital CANNOT make you eat anything. You CAN demand low to zero carb foods.

Completely agree w the "eat nothing sweet!" Every time I think I can have just 1 piece of something sweet...it spirals me into a few months of fighting sweets..

I went off keto/carnivore this past winter because I was playing with sour dough recipes( I don't even crave bread, so I thought I was safe) but I was trying each new recipe and it caught up with me...15 lbs overnight is what it felt like...I'm still fighting.

A storm blew a huge elm down across my driveway. I couldn't clean it all up myself, but I did haul off several yard carts of tree limbs to my compost pile. Proud of myself. I also had neighbors who said that they would clean up the tree. I told them they were the answer to my prayers. God can use anyone he wants to help his people.

Joe and Rachel about the animals you desire....have you thought about who will be looking after the ranch when you're traveling? I am asking from my experience. I always have to have someone stopping in, watering, feeding, etc. Or I travel alone so my husband stays home or vise a versa and that is not as much fun. I grew up on a farm and we did not get to travel as kids. I'm down to 8 chickens and 10 quail, and when they're gone, I'm not replacing them. I can't wait to subscribe to the renovation channel. My husband and our boys have a concrete and construction company, and I love watching dreams come true. Good luck in all your adventures. Sue

Just now coming back to the video since I lost power when my unwelcomed guest Hurricane Beryl was here. Now I can say that Glad that Joe's mom had someone there to advocate for her. I have been lately trying to advocate for myself. It's not easy. I am finally getting the care I need through the VA.

When my husband was in the hospital they would feed him all kinds of carbs and he was a diabetic his numbers were so high they would not let him go home until they were down so I took over ordering food for him I put him on keto he was able to come home in two days numbers were normal

I wanted to tell you what this meant to me. I've missed many of your videos because I've been unable to watch, but someone mentioned this on your fb page. I'm having my colon removed next week. The shakes they gave me to drink are 100% junk. I refused them and also the carb loading drink for prep. I'm type 2 diabetic but have kept my A1C at 5.2 consistently because of following your advice and this lifestyle. I honestly did not know what to do as this is what they are going to be giving me on my tray post surgery. So now I know what to do. Thank you. God bless you, and God keep your mother, Joe. I know I have a rough road ahead, but if I can, with this information I will make it. If not, I'm still good because I know where my home is. Thank you. ❤️🙏❤️

I am lucky that I didn’t need a”special “ diet when I had knee replacement and appendicitis. My hospital let me order hard boiled eggs and bacon for any meal. I could also order roast beef and sliced turkey breast without any bread. My hospital food was great.

Nothing made me more insane than the nurses throwing away the inopened atkins shakes (i brought keto chow but wanted shelf stable) and giving him ensure! Then i brought REAL food and told them what he ate, (asked them to chart it) sugar free yogurt, tuna salad, ect. I HAD to go work and they would yell at him that he HAD to eat pancakes and brownies. It still makes me cry. Not to mention the statins (noone gave permission) and blood pressure lowering medicines when he was at 85/50. He would have died if I wasnt there as much as my incredible work allowed.

I have been having problems. Probably wouldn't have found the stones in my bladder or kidney if not for the hernia. I went in today and talking about the apple cider vinegar and the response even though he didn't say it. It was like I was stupid. Then he suggested flomax to help with urinary problems and when I asked for a natural remedy he said there wasn't one. Not sure what to do with that since I will be going there later to get the stones blasted with a laser.

I am lucky that I worked at a hospital That had a fairly extensive menu for patients and many options in the cafeteria for staff and visitors. People could eat as healthy or unhealthy as they wanted to. Often times I would give my diabetics suggestions where they could order a lot more food since they were on carbohydrate restrictions and would complain that they could hardly get any food. Unless they were also on a cardiac diet, I would usually tell them to just order double portions of meats and get salads and green veggies.

Gotta say that raising your own beef is the hardest animal for me personally. Calves just really are the sweetest and then you have them nearly two years before its time to butcher. If you do not believe me, just go to a county fair and watch the kids with tears in their eyes as they are getting ready to take their steers into the auction ring to sell them. Pigs are awesome a lil harder to get that close to and grow much faster! So so tasty bacon! hehe. We pretty much raised everything growing up and it was all good. .. . Small animal auctions, my father learned not to take me after I talked him into buying one lot of rabbits. Because in that lot was an angora rabbit. He got to butcher all but my Mister Lancelot. He would follow me around as I feed and watered the animals after school. I miss having the animals.. I wish you guys all the best in your property future... and get the pigs!

For Keto Chow ice cream using the Creami, I use 5T of melted butter. Spin on Lite ice cream, twice. I end up with zero icy bits. Not even around the container wall. Perfection! Oh, I also add additional Redmond’s Real Salt when I’m mixing up the shake to start with. It seems to enhance the flavor a bit.
