Fun Facts about this song: 1. Named one of the most important metal songs of the last 10 years 2. Member of Korn snuck on stage to play in the band when Baby Metal performed this song at a festival 3. The Red Hot Chili Peppers joined them on stage and performed this song with them. 4. Metallica likes to sing and dance with Baby Metal back stage at festivals to this song. In a recent interview Corey Taylor of Slipknot was asked who he listened to at home and he said "BabyMetal"

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝️ The BABYMETAL members are aware that "What the Heck?" is a common first reaction. They compare this to how they felt when they were first introduced to metal music when they began the group. That's one reason some of their early videos went viral. They look at this as a way of getting their foot in the door. 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is their most popular music video (well over 100 million views). It's also the only song they've performed on US television (The Colbert Show). Su often gets the crowd to sing along in live performances of this song. They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. Not all at the same time though. : ) Su has corrected interviewers who had the idea this song is about eating disorders, or anything like that. It's just about wanting chocolate, but being a little concerned that it's fattening. No deep meaning to this one. Many of their other songs have deeper lyrics, this is one of the "poppier" ones.

I was on the barrier on the Moa side for that concert. Remember the fight scene during 'Akatsuki'? And Su's 'Kagerou' solo back when it was known as 'Tattoo'. So good.

The lyrics talk about girls struggling with the pressure to maintain their figures, or as Nakamoto Suzuka aka Su Metal explained, "[The lyrics of the song are] about girls and women who love to eat chocolate. Another great reaction. At 2:12 is the moment that is a definition of Kawaii (Cute) Metal - adorable and cute mixed with slammin' Metal riffs. It's a moment that causes a lot of confusion at first but you'll probably start singing it the first time you see a bar of chocolate after you've watched it!

love your video :) both of you are so cute if you wanna see more of new babymetal (ca. from last year) check out "Starlight", "Shine" or "DA DA DANCE". Su-metal (lead singer) has a great voice and it really shows. if you wanna see the more extreme side of the band and the girls, listen to/watch "BABYMETAL DEATH" and "IN THE NAME OF"

Nice reaction, it seems you needed some of their more unique and unusual songs before seeing them play the more regular metal songs like Road of Resistance so you could get used to the idea of three girls singing and dancing to it. If I'm right 'Catch Me If You Can' from this same show (Legend 1997 at Makuhari Messe) might be a good choice for your next one - or for something more recent 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' or 'Oh! Majinai' are out of the ordinary.

Grannies-there are a number of videos of the girls that aren't music videos. The 3 girls went to a school called Sakura Gakuin. It is part school/part TV show. One of the most endearing parts is that the two younger girls, Yui and Moa, were inseperable when they were 10-15. Closer than sisters, but still they both loved Su (Suzuka) a lot also. When Suzuka graduated Moa gave a tear filled speech about how much she loved Su. It is heart rendering to watch.

Funny that you did not like a Road of a Resistance when that performance is a banger. It was probably mostly the shock that turned you off, that happens a lot with Chocolate when it is a first listen. I am glad though that you give your honest opinion.

They were around 14 or 15 when this was filmed. I can't Imagine the amount of time they have to spend rehearsing to get to this level of performance. Every move is practiced even when they do interviews to the very small details, but the did grew up doing this so at the point of this video they had been doing it for 4 or 5 years so by now they are professionals.

I was in my early 50's when I went to see them at Wembley and was thinking hmmm I'm going to be the oldest one there and am going to look out of place....I couldn't have been more wrong, all ages from 16 to 70, metalheads, rock fans, pop fans, and we all had a fantastic time

Found Babymetal in 2018 and they stole my heart. I am 52 and a long time rocker. These kids are simply amazing, especially live. I have been to one of their concerts and it was excellent. These young ladies have been doing this for 10 years already and they are in their early 20's, so we have many years of Babymetal ahead of us. I highly recommend Karate official video next.

Great reaction again! As you can probably tell by now, BABYMETAL are not the kind of band where every song sounds the same. Although this one was heavy as well, it was completely different from e.g. "Road of Resistance", putting more emphasis on the kawaii (cute) side of their Kawaii Metal. Gimmie chocolate preformed on Jimmy Kimmel (or Fallon) was my first babymetal experience. I didn't blink for the entire 3+ minutes of the song, and my first reaction was kinda like acdc granny's face.."what the fuck was THAT??" then I saw they're live at Wembley concert on KZfaq and now I don't listen to ANY other band. Becoming a fan, a TRUE babymetal fan, is almost like having a religious experience. It changes you deep down forever and your a better person for it.

One funny little part is when Yui and Moa are doing the DA DA DA DA DA part around her Su looks exasperated and annoyed. That is part of the song choreography as much as anything else. The girls are incredibly professional all of their facial expressions are part of the act.

In Japan they are MASSIVE!!!! In fact all metal is huge there, I was fortunate enough to go there and see Black Sabbath and Slipknot (among many many other bands) for Ozzfest Japan 2013. Such a unique experience.

Just FYI, technically you're falling down the "foxhole" (as opposed to the rabbit hole.) BABYMETAL has a whole lore behind the band, much of which has to do with the Fox God - who supposedly gave them their divine calling to unite humanity through metal music as well various other commandments and missions. There's a lot of worthwhile stuff to see and hear with this band, so best of luck and much fun if you continue your BABYMETAL journey. Oh, by the way, the hand sign they are always throwing up is called the "kitsune," which means "fox" in Japanese. It's not the typical metal horns that metalheads typically make - the two middle fingers and thumb are extended instead of curled under so that it looks like a fox head.

It is funny that this song really got you hooked because it is normally the first song most people watch as a reaction and it generally leads to a "WTF did I just watch?!" reaction, then most people watch "Road of Resistance" as a palette cleanser. You seem to be the opposite. Lots of great suggestions for more BABYMETAL here, so I won't make any myself. Keep them coming!!

Gimme Cocolate is "just" a fun song about wanting to eat chocolate but being worried about weight BUT the instrumentals are sooo metal, those guitars are so low tuned, I believe that's drop E or drop Hell hehe... As far as I know this girls were trained from like ~8 years old age to be idols and perform on stage. So for most of their live they been on stage.

I love the fact you guys love BABYMETAL! I feel in love with their band as soon as I heard them so I am glad you guys did the same. I am always trying to discover other J-Rock bands. I found one recently that has been around for a little while. Since you responded to BABYMETAL already try watching J-Rock band "BRATS". Try my favorite songs from them like "Doudatte yokatta," "Ms. Downer," and "Unfair." "No more, No More" is a good song too. I think that one is a song that they are more known for.

Yes. Gimme Chocolate is one of their older songs like road of resistance, yuimetal was in the band when they wrote the songs. Pa pa ya was written last year I believe; yuimetal left the band before Pa pa ya's album

Gimme Chocolate is from their first album just called "Babymetal". Road of Residence if from their second album called "Metal Resistance". Babymetal was created while they were part of the Idol group "Sakura Gakuin", and was actually a part of Sakura Gakuin to begin with. Babymetal was such a huge unexpected success to Amuse which is the management company that manages Sakura Gakuin, that they choose to let the girls continue with Babymetal after they outgrew Sakura Gakuin. And Babymetal has since been a it's own band, and is no longer a part of Sakura Gakuin. Which is a good thing, because Su, Yui and Moa is the people that has made Babymetal what it is today. It would not have been the same if they had just passed the barton to the next members of Sakura Gakuin.

I know Nana King said they were adorable at the end, but you can tell from her expressions watching the girls that she thinks they are absolutely friggin adorable! They should bear in mind the age difference in this video and PA PA YA, the girls were 14-16 in the Gimmie Chocolate video, and 21 and 19 in the PA PA YA video, They are 22 and Moametal is 21 in few days ) plus one of the members, Yuimetal, has been gone from the group for 3 years, so they are now a duo with a third dancer as backup. ( Su-Metal is the lead vocalist ) They are a group that are well worth the deep dive into their music because they are absolutely unique.
